I've been searching for the appropriate passage in my copy of Shadow Over Santa Susanna, but haven't found it yet (must be a different edition than Decan Blue's--and it doesn't have an index, dang it)...when I do I'll post it...

And Steganosaurus, as a gesture of good will and a peace offering, you're welcome to raid my library anytime.

GreatieMartin: you know, I don't think it's as simple as a one-to-one identification. I mean, yeah, Manson identifies with Bruno, and probably used similar manipulative techniques, but my guess is that there's something even bigger at stake...

Yeah, check out the Omega sign on his costume.

Did you know that the higher levels of the Process Church organized into a subgroup called Omega?

Just a coinkydink, I'm sure....

GreatieM: no, I'm sorry, I don't have it on pdf, only old-fashioned hardcover. It's available, though, at Amazon for pretty cheap...

PS: I'm tired, too. Smile

Quote:
Giordano Bruno is a small lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon, just beyond the northeastern limb. At this location it lies in an area that can be viewed during a favorable libration, although at such times the area is viewed from the side and not much detail can be seen.

kk is talking about the moon and then I happened on this.

So this is on Untermuyer's blog:

Quote:

Winter's people watching
as I sail from season's four
to join some crazy ladies
in a game upon the shore
None of them with broken wings
but still refuse to fly
so with sweetness on my lips
I smile a last goodbye

so if anyone hears about a suicide of a forty something woman of artistic temperament, do let
me know.

Meanwhile, according to KK the men are heading here:

Other talk of changing names and being reborn into new identities. Another hiatus coming?

Untermuyer had this a little earlier.

Quote:
Crossed ideas & twisted fear
Chosen channels of a million tears
Strains the mind night after night
And the price ain't really right

Snake oils on the boil
And the master pitch is in a coil

They once had a code & they called it Morse
And it could not stop the flying horse

Hai guyz, sekrit codes!!!!

Oh well, nevermind.

Dear friends. I had wondered if the quantum typewriter text was some kind of coil code but I messed around with it and got nothing. Maybe it really was just random utterances from the land of chance. Haven't seen anything Morse like and I figure you mean Pegasus but not sure where that gets me either. Or maybe you mean Morse code as telegraph as getting replaced by more modern message transport. Lot 49 etc.

yawn. Hopefully I will get time to look at these things when I am not so tired.

Original lyrics of brainwash
Quote:

There once was a colt and they called it Morris
And it could not stop the flying horse
Thoroughbred on the wings of reason
Past the sky..the masterpiece of freedom
Brainwash ...

Probably should stop reading this stuff as having direct content.

colt? Morris?

I would give the song a listen & see what you think

Lot of these lyric pages are pretty sketchy at best

Especially Steely Dan

...besides, Morris was a cat.

Little snippet about Kid Charlemagne:
Quote:

This is a tough song to decipher..as are many Steely Dan Songs. Its about Stanley Owsley III, a chemist who was well-known in the San Francisco drug culture. He made millions of tablets of strong LSD in his day, and then dissapeared. Key points: "Just by chance you crossed the diamond with the Pearl..you turned it on the world..thats when you turned the world around" And..."All your low-rent friends are dead..life can be very strange...those test-tubes and the scales, just get em all out of here.....is their gas in the car? Yes, there is gas in the car. I think the people down the hall, know who you are.." Its a great lyric, although hidden..like most-all of their lyrics.

There is a whole scene in Last Statue that revolves around this story.

From Untermeyer:
Quote:
Mizar-5
Be born again my friend–won't you sign in stranger?

Googling around to try to understand that--turns out its a quote from a Steely Dan song, "Sign in Stranger", about a sci-fi land called Mizar-5 where people shed old identities and put on new ones...

Also found this: http://www.chrisbell.co.nz/mizar5/pages/1
The Boom on Mizar-5, a rather noir-ish short web-story by Christopher Bell

What's most interesting about that is that the story comes complete with a list of "Recommended Listening"--all Steely Dan/Donald Fagan/Walter Becker tracks.

Quote:

Book Of Liars WALTER BECKER '11 Tracks of Whack'
Sign In Stranger STEELY DAN 'Alive In America'
I.G.Y. DONALD FAGEN 'The Nightfly' Warner Bros
Glamour Profession STEELY DAN 'Citizen Dan'

Guess there's a precedent for The Last Statue, after all....
