[VIDEO] Entry #14 I didn't see anything about this and the timestamps are all before 6:00 PM. (Assuming I'm in the right zone.)

Entry #14
EDIT: My post says 5:40, so I'm in a different zone. Apologies if this has been posted, probably has been. I'll take it down if you guys wish.
I just want in on the action, huzzah.

The trailead's a pain to go through why shouldn't each entry have it's own thread? That's why we have a whole forum for Marble Hornets now.

I agree, but I read through all 52 pages anyway.
I don't ever want to seem like a straight up noob again.

Screw the Trailhead post.. there comes a time where it's better to organize the discussion on each video in each thread..
I say this:
This seems backwards... Like the first :53 seconds was actually after the tape log from :53 seconds to 1:25
So I'm thinking that Alex set up the Tape to watch the door while he slept. And clearly the person entering the room at the beginning is NOT Alex... but SM as many are calling him, but the person who's been following him. And then when the camcorder is knocked over... and Alex is attacked... after we see the result.
This is out of order.

That's an intriguing idea. I'm definitely getting some kind of strange vibe from that video as far as the timing of events goes, maybe that would explain it.

There is a weird blue flash on the screen for about 3-4 frames right when the camera changes direction at about :53. Am I the only one that is seeing this?

I see them too.
Not sure if they're anything or just reflections off something (dark room, I know, but things are being filmed which means equipment.)
I'll screen shot them anyway for you.

Looks like just a blue light from some electronic device, blurred by the motion of the camera. I don't think it has any significance at all.

What does seem significant is that Alex is just as bloody when he gets out of bed as he is at the end. If he'd just been attacked as the watcher entered the room and the camera is disturbed, then there would not be as much blood. Certainly, a large wound would have caused lots of bleeding, but not in long dribbles that have partially dried over a period of time.

Maybe it's not his blood?
(I don't really believe myself, so I say "relax" before someone yells at me.)

Just musing aloud here. Why does Alex leave his door open when he sleeps? In entry 11 I got the impression it was in conjunction with his landing light, so that he can see a silhouette if anyone appears at the top of the stairs. Would anyone entertain the idea that Alex, until entry 14, was not expecting to be attacked (Indeed, we're still not certain he was attacked)?
Other thoughts:
When the camera suddenly moves, it sounds like he leaps out of bed in shock, but there's no scream, no "WHO THE FUCK IS THAT", no bloody spurting noise, nothing that would suggest a man has been bopped on the head by a long-armed bandit. It's possible this stuff happens before the audio comes back, but it doesn't seem likely given how little time there is in between (incidentally, I'm practically certain the events happen as presented; there is no cut - if you look closely you can trace the way the camera angle changes with the lights on the opposite wall, and in the darkness you can see Alex's leg come out of the bed). Therefore, I'm more inclined to agree with the theory that the blood was already on his face when he went to bed. I'm no nurse though, so I don't know that it couldn't have just slipped quickly down his face. It's hard to say without knowing where on his head the wound is.
I feel like this video is a deliberate attempt (OOG sense) to debunk theories we've had, perhaps to get us on track. At one point some of us thought that the camera could help to keep SM at bay; that he could only be seen through digital means; that his presence or activity caused audio and visual distortion (though I concede there is visual tearing). I'm not very serious about this idea, by the way, just a bit deflated.
Also, and perhaps most importantly, I've been doing a thorough assessment of the relative gain levels in the right and left channels of audio. In totheark's videos, there is consistently 5-10dB higher average RMS power in the right channel. In the Entries that have sound (even entry 1) the right channel is always 4-10 dB louder. There is one exception, and that is program, in which both channels are almost precisely the same RMS loudness.
Given that we all agree the discrepancy is unusual, I think it's pretty fair to assume for the time being that totheark's videos were filmed on Alex's camera. That is for those of you that weren't already assuming that, anyway.

Someone should ask J if Alex took his camera with him.
