I would say run a still through gimp, and use every enhancement tool on it. Something is bound to show up.

Yo Maverick, nice avatar.

Adam Baldwin is such a nice dude in person.

Back on topic: I actually used cardboard and made a Grille for each set (ABC), and made two each for those sets using the 0's as holes, and then the -'s.

So, where should I start?

Well, I would try every batch of words with the cipher where 0 is the hole, and if it doesnt work, try it with the other cipher.

So, according to how grilles go... the 0 should show where holes go...

the only reason why i think that it should be the opposite is because there are WAY less letters that way and therefore way less repeats. i mean, with 0's as holes, we have BE 4 times in a row, plus 16 more letters. and that's for one repeat.

speaking of which, what is the significance of it repeating? i mean, 4 repeats would be enough, right? using twixbucket's terminology, we get ABCBABCB...

again, i got nothing. this one's pretty tough =/

by the way, what is a good program to use for video editing, specifically for viewing frame by frame?

also, twixbucket: your .wmv is too short, or at least for me it stops around the grid of zeros and dashes.

edit: and i forgot about
C
LO
SE
LY
this is intriguing, particularly since the first row has a MISSING letter whereas bleedmore has an extra one.

From what I can find out about grille codes, they are usually square. Peraphs closely and bleedmoore need to be to be combinded. Also another way of doing a grille code is is you can rotate the grille after every section of letters.

Thanks! I'd have loved to have gone to one of the Firefly panels when the show was still around to meet the cast.

Also, drew up some blank charts for all 12 possibilities. Document is attached, created in Open Office but formatted for Microsoft Word. I figure if everything is organized a bit then it might be easier to figure it out.

let's combine closely and bleed more into one.

CB LE

now, i tried taking the first 2 iterations of 0's and -'s to make a square like so

0000
0-00
-000
0-0-

and tried rotating it all around, but got gibberish.

also, not following your chart, maverick. what's with the ABC's?

There were three different grilles which were dubbed A, B, and C. The chart accommodates all the different possibilities as far as which set of letters lines up with which grille. I didn't know how they should be ordered, though, so I just left it in order with which set of letters came first.

We've got to be overlooking something. Something obvious.

What's the information we're 100% sure about from the other totheark vids? I've got the feeling if we start cross-referencing all these clues from all the vids we'll start seeing something.

GRILLES! .... Why none of us thought of this before I don't know why.

... ark, tell us what videos to combine.

The film reel type sound is a loop of exactly 1 second in length (exactly to a precision of 1ms). 31 Clicks per loop. Whoever it was suggesting the need for a timebase earlier, that's one. Playing with it made me think of the peculiar audio track from entry 1, which is also a loop but of white noise. However, that loop is about 0.9 seconds, and I've not been able to measure it precisely.

well, I guess one thing to notice is that a lot, if not every video, has something to do with water, or a reference to it. Second, he seems to like to distort audio very much. anyone else wanna add?

Bah, sorry for double posting like this, I'll sign up for an account after this post, but how about also applying it to the words that Alex had drawn out like

These Pines and things like that.
