This is probably nothing, but.. Is the background image on the marbehornets twitter page of any significance? It's a bare tree.. It does look like it could be just a default image, but it's also different from my own page, which has clouds. In any case, I'm expecting to react like this once someone responds: Embarassed

I thought the same thing as you, but it's nothing more than a default background image. When I made my twitter account it was one of the images you could pick from their lot.

He's known as Ce Gars on SA.

But most of you knew that.

I suppose the problem with the ARG is the inability of the maker to confirm that that's what it is. Ce Gars probably didn't expect such a following, otherwise I imagine he'd have taken more care to separate it from himself; so personally I don't think landmine is doing anything 'creepy' because if the alternate reality is truly well constructed then everything you try to find out should only lead you to in character information, really. If he'd been more prepared he probably would have created a new AIM account that would have been harder to link back to his real life.

I've been thinking about it, in entry 14 the narrator makes sure to let us know the tape was split by 32 minutes, which is very specific for something that has the qualifier "about" in front of it. So I'm thinking the next step will have something to do with a 32 bit encryption.

Lem ftw! This sounds promising.

Having some video editing experience myself, 32 minutes isn't all that specific when it comes down to it. When I'm in After Effects I often view the timeline in frames. Even when composing a regular video with no effects to create I often have the timeline of whatever program I'm using zoomed into seconds.

I'm sure thats true, but the fact its presented to us so plainly but without a drect hand off makes it seem like something this creator is trying to tell us. These guys are the type he hide clues in plain sight. Take a look at entry #7, the SM isn't there for a split second when the camera drops, or in the rearview mirror, he's just standing in the middle of the screen, but hidden just enough to where a lot of people don't catch him.

Plus the number 32 has a very specific place when it comes to classical mathematical encoding/decoding. Its a hunch, but it seems to fit with their style.

Hey been lurking the forums and such for a while seeing what other people had to say about marble hornets, and I finally decided to make an account so I can participate, so hey everybody!

In regards to numbers and their importance, does 86 hold any significance? On totheark's page it says that he has viewed videos 86 times. Either someone got bored who is part of the ARG and watched some youtube videos on the account, or it might be important. I know someone mentioned the "age" of totheark so I thought I should mention this. Besides age, the only other number that the creators can control are the number of videos being watched on the account.

The problem with that is that if they were to accidentally click on their own video, or if they clicked on another video without realizing that they were logged in, the number would be ruined and would be irreversible. It's probably them just looking at comments on their videos.

A good thought, but it hasn't always been 86. Last time I went looking for info in his profile is was forty something - he does actually watch videos.

Thanks for joining us!

Hi J,

I was just wondering if you happened to know Alex's middle name? I'm curious...

Cheers!

Not sure. It's not something people bring up very often.

What do you mean, you thought you were on to something? The question wasn't denied nor confirmed.

My question was based on the assumption that totheark's video views remained constant, at 86, from start to end. As said by Grooze as well as Maverick's (as well as the possibility I stated in my first post) that the person could accidentally view videos on that profile. So both those points basically shoot down the idea
