EMAIL: To webmaster at Ash Grove Park

I sent this to the webmaster at AGP:
Hello,
>
> I have always been interested in cemetaries and the names on the gravestones.
> I would like to offer my assistance, if needed, to help organize the

Here is the reply I just got:

webmasterSPLATashgrovepark.com wrote:

Ursulla,

Thank you for your offer my dear, but I think I've got a handle on everything.
I should be able to post the list and map soon, but you must forgive me, I'm
having trouble catching up on things after travelling abroad.

Sincerely,

D.P. Hunter

And here is the reply I just sent. I know the site is registered to a Desire Hunter, but.... Hopefully we will get some answers:

Hello Mr., Ms. Hunter....How should I address you? I don't wish to be rude.

Travelling abroad? Where did you go? How long were you gone? I am glad you made it home safe with all the craziness in the world.

There have been some strange things happening regarding your site. A few weeks ago it was a "real" Park; With rides, food, games... even two carousels. I know someone who says he was there with his family on February 14th. Maybe you know them. Dale, Diana, and Meaghan Sprague. Unfortunately for Mr.Sprague, he lost his wife and daughter coming home from Ash Grove Park. It was a very sad accident. He is trying to prove that your memorial Park was once a site for a "carnival type park". Can you offer any insight? Some are saying that your Park is a gateway to other dimensions. Crazy huh? I would like to believe there really are gateways to other worlds. I find it fascinating. I would like to know what path my life may have taken...

By the way, I have been trying to find out the meaning behind the name "Early's Crossing". There doesn't seem to be a body of water anywhere near there at the present time. I have a map from 1984 and I see an intermittent stream from a lake that is to the north. It seems to have been called Stop the Jade Run. Any correlation?

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Ursulla

Any other questions that need to be asked?

Dear Ms. Glick,

My sincere aplogies for any troubles you may have had with our website.

I have been overseas for the last month, doing research for an upcoming
book
I'm writing about Ash Grove Park. The AGP cemetery website has been in
the
works for a while and just recently moved from one server to another,
and
it appears things with this server move may have gotten mucked up a bit
in my
absence. I know nothing of an amusement park, but perhaps some wires
got
crossed somewhere, figuratively and literally speaking. Perhaps there
was a
mix-up with the name server or perhaps it was hackers playing around. I
will
check with my hosting company.

As for specific stories about Ash Grove Park cemetery and its history,
I'm
reluctant to share much of what my research has uncovered until my book
is
published. I'm sure you can understand. I will be posting the
internment list
and map soon, so never fear!

In any case, thank you for your interest.

Sincerely,

D.P. Hunter

Our mysterious webmaster is a he. Here is his reply to me.

Dear Miss Fitz,

You may call me Mr., as I am quite definitely of the male persuasion. I
apologize for the ambiguity, but I've learned to protect my online privacy as
much as possible. The name I use, Desire Hunter, is my nom de plume, if you
will. You see, I am somewhat of an aspiring writer, as well as an amateur
historian and cemetery afficianado. I am in fact writing a book about Ash Grove
Park cemetery.

I have indeed been made aware of the strange goings on with the AGP cemetery
website. These occurances happened whilst I was overseas, so they were quite
out of my control, unfortunately. You see, I have been in Europe for the past
month or so, researching some of the names and histories I have found at the
AGP cemetery. Upon my return, my inbox was filled with messages asking about an
apparent amusement park, along with questions about this Dale Sprague whom you
mentioned.

It is all rather odd. I had previously never heard of Dale Sprague until i
received these emails, including one from Mr. Sprague himself. Nor do I have
any knowledge about an Ash Grove Park carnival and have no idea why people
received e-mails from its "webmaster" whilst I was away. You see, the AGP
cemetery website has been in the works for a while and just recently moved from
one server to another. Perhaps there was a mix-up with the mail server or
perhaps it was hackers mucking about. I am in the process of inquiring with the
hosting company.

Therefore I'm afraid I have no information that can help you in this regard,
nor Mr. Sprague in his most unfortunate situation. My condolences go out to him
in his time of grief. Let me assure you, as I assured him, that Ash Grove Park
is nothing more than a country cemetery, from my observation. It has
fascinating historical value, but is not a carnival, despite Mr. Sprague's
recollection. I am at a loss to help explain any of this.

Indeed, I do consider Ash Grove Park a gateway to another world, but probably
not in the same way as you. It is here that humanity is ushered into eternity,
as it is with every other cemetery all over the world.

I hope this answers some of your questions. Sorry I can not be of more help.

Sincerely,

D.P. Hunter

I posted the following request to the webmasterSPLATashgrovepark.com:

Quote:
Dear Sir/Madam:

As an amateur genealogist, I was excited to discover your website for
the Ash Grove Park Cemetery. Like yourself, I have often spent days,
even weeks, perusing old headstones for the historical information they
contain. It is a fascinating hobby that brings one closer to their past.

My reason for writing is that I have been researching a branch of my
family (great-grandmother on my mother's side) that may have lived in
the Early's Crossing area. The family name was "Sprauge". While I am
unsure when they settled there, my grandmother (rest her soul) told me
that they left the area shortly after my great-grandfather returned
from WWI. While I certainly don't want to pressure you, I'd be very
appreciative if you could look through your records to determine if any
members of my family are buried at Ash Grove Park.

I also note the one of the photos on the website has the name "Bowers".
This is a minor interest as they may be related to my family through
marriage. It is, however, so common a name that there may be no
relation at all. The photo was too small to read the dates on the
stone. Perhaps you can look at your copy and provide that information.

Many thanks to you for providing this wonderful website. It is people
like yourself who rescue these obscure places from oblivion, and share
this information with the world. My thanks in advance for your
consideration.

I received the following reply today:

Quote:
Dear Mr. Long,

Thank you for your interest in Ash Grove Park. At the present time, I am unable to answer specific queries about particular individuals, due to an incredible backlog of work that has piled up due to my being overseas on a research trip.

However, I will be posting an internment list along with a map on the Ash Grove Park website soon. I hope you will find these to be helpful.

Sincerely,

D.P. Hunter

I wonder if the "D.P." stands for Deceased Person...

Odd to be hunting desires in a graveyard.

I don't hunt for my desires in the graveyard. Too much effort to dig up the bodies if you know what I mean.

My email is bit like the others but perhaps this is some use to posting it.

Dear Mr. Geist,

Thank you very much for your offer of help with the Ash Grove Park
cemetery
site and its history, along with the kind words about the site
itself. However
at this time, despite being a little behind on catching up on some
things due
to a recent trip overseas, I think I have everything well in hand.

I am in the midst of writing a book about the cemetery's history, so
I can not
share too many of my findings at this time. Once this book is
published
however, I will be happy to discuss anything in it. As far as sneak
peeks go,
I'm afraid you'll have to wait to read the book! Smile

However, you will perhaps be interested to know that I will be
posting the Ash
Grove Park interment list and map soon. I hope these items will prove
useful.

Sincerely,

D.P. Hunter

P.S. Have you considered becoming a writer about this subject
yourself? With a
name like Geist, it would be very apropos

Here is another email I sent to Mr. Hunter.

Hello again Mr. Hunter,

I just wanted to know if there is another phone number where you can be reached. It seems the (201) number is not working. It is also an area code for Hackensack, NJ which is quite a ways away.

Also, I did not know that a cemetery could be in a state park/forest. It seems to be located in Lebanon State Forest. Or is there another Upper Mill Road in Burlington County New Jersey with the zip code of 08088?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks again.

Ursulla

Following the last e-mail from D.P. hunter, I replied:

D.P. Hunter (is it Mr. or Ms.?)

Thank you for your reply. It is indeed very strange
this confusion between the Ash Grove Park cemetery
website and the Ash Grove Park amusement park website.
However, since your website is definitely there and
the other website seems to have disappeared into the
ether, I guess I will not trouble myself further about
it.

In the meantime, I will definitely look forward to
your book and the interesting information I am sure it
will contain. I also would be interested in seeing the
internment list and map whenever they are up.

I have one more question regarding one of the pictures
on the web site. I will understand if there is
information you want to keep to yourself for your book
if you need to, but just in case you have any light to
shed: can you tell me anything about the fourth
headstone image, the one that looks almost like the
rocks at Stonehenge in miniature? How old is it? Why
is it in that particular form? Who is buried there? I
have not seen a headstone like that in the cemetaries
I have visited. it looks very old, but since it is in
America, I guess there is a limit to how old it could
be.

Thank you, and best wishes in completing your book,

Katie

Here is his latest reply to me:

Quote:
My Dear Ms. Glick,

I aplogize for the tardiness in my reply. Emails have been piling up
rather
quickly on me as of late.

Indeed, I have found evidence of somebody wreaking a little havoc on my
website while I was away in Europe. That could explain the emails
certain
individuals may have received from somebody claiming he was someone
named
Bowers. If I were to venture a guess, I'd say the name was chosen from
one of
the photographs on the Ash Grove Park site.

I can not for the life if me venture a guess as to who or why this was
done.

I am very flattered that you would like to read my book. In the
meantime, I
have posted the internment list and cemetery diagram. I hope that you
find
them to be the wealth of fascinating information that they have been to
me. I
do have a few little tidbits I might be able to share at some point,
but for
the most part, I'd like to keep things to myself until the book is
published.

Sincerely,

(Mr.) D.P. Hunter

So not much except that the "tidbits" he may release sounds promising. Smile

emails to webmaster@ashgrovepark

Kona asked that I post my emails with DP Hunter.
I had emailed DP Hunter last week and heard from him yesterday and then again this morning. The most recent email is at the bottom.
I guess he's used to talking to dead people. Smile
For anyone not familiar with Search4E, Owen McCleery was an ingame character who published True Crime novels. He was killed off in the game in November of last year.

>>> > Quoting Owen McCleery <zombieman@deadman.com>:
Hi,

Wow, you're writing a book, I can't wait to read it. I love to hear
about the people who settled this great country of ours. I hope you include plenty
of the stories you wrote about on the web site. You know the ones about
all the strange and supernatural happenings at Ash Grove Park, those kind of
stories are my favorite. My great aunt who was born in the late 1800's used to keep
me entertained as a child with tales of ghosts and the supernatural. She was a true
believer. Personally I think she was a witch, but she would never admit that to anybody.

I have something of a mystery you might want to include in your book. Did you
know the Interment list and the maze layout you put up on the website contained a
message? It is a rather cryptic message too. Perhaps you can shed some light on its
meaning. Here is the message:

The path between worlds
Lies in the power of belief
The nine who exist here and beyond
With them in hand the way revealed

Do you have any idea of its meaning? Do you know who the nine might be?

Have you found out anymore about the Garden of Pears? I'm hoping you
will share anything you have now, rather than making me wait for your book. Think
of it as a "Quid Pro Quo" thing, but time is of essence. I will explain at a later
time why it is so important, but please be assured it may be a matter of life and
death. If I come up with anything else that you could include in your book I will
pass that information on to you without delay. I am begging you to please do me
the same courtesy.

Thank you,
Owen McCleery

It seems odd, many people are wishing me to reveal information about
things, when I have said clearly that I'm not really at liberty to relate what
my research has uncovered due to the publishing of my book.

I find it odd that so many people want more information, but are unwilling to
wait for the publication of the book. Some have even gone so far as to pressure me
to reveal things by making it seem as if it were a 'matter of life or death.' I
find this very difficult to believe, and very insulting. I don't take kindly to this
sort of extortion attempt.

As a matter of professional courtesy, I'm sure you can understand why I would
not want to share information with another author such as yourself. Why would I
release my hard-earned research results prematurely? So as to read about it in
someone else's book or on someone else's website, perhaps? Your reputation precedes
you, sir.

I think not.

Sincerely,
D.P. Hunter

My Dear Sir,

Are you meaning to tell me that the publishing company True Crime Press means
nothing to you? A simple Google search yields
http://truecrimepress.com/tcpind.html,
which tells me that you have not been
forthcoming in your communications with me.

I have had dozens of emails from people telling me that I 'need to give them
further information' as it's very important, a matter of life and death, etc.
etc. So many people wanting me to give them information from my book before it

is published, and it turns out one of them is indeed a book publisher in
disguise?

Poppycock!

I am not in this for the money, sir. I am merely trying to protect myself.
Plagiarism is plagiarism, and as a publisher, you should know that. Forgive me

if you take offense, but I would sooner have a Merlot with salmon than ever
share any of my information with the likes of you! If you think that you or
your cohorts could possibly have information that I would find helpful, or
didn't already have myself, then you're sadly mistaken.

Good day sir,
