I've posted my experience this morning with the 09:05 axon here. Yes, it sucked.

The locations in MA have gone hot! McBee Enterprises!!???!!!

In case you haven't noticed, the two spots in MA - blip (06:19) and jersey (06:51) have gone hot.

Interesting bit ... both phones has three 7s in the number. Coincidence?

We had 6 people show up at both locations.
Myself, a friend of mine, Matt Q (from the blog comments), his girlfriend, grimcat, and his brother.

Both locations were INSIDE a McDonalds. One was a payphone, the other was a company phone. Neither were accessable to the public. When we asked the manager at both locations about calls, they confirmed they werte getting odd calls. We explained what was going on, and asked them if they would answer in a certain way for us. Fortunately they both said yes. and both answered the calls correctly.

Now here is the really interesting thing. On my way home My friend and I stopped at a McDonalds for lunch (completely separate location) and low and BEEhold, the top of the receipt said McBee Enterprise....

McBEE --- sorry if this is a trout but has anyone else noticed that calls are in McDonalds locations - or that McDonalds receipts state McBee at the top.
My wife noticed the receipt.

I don't have access to a scanner now, but I'll get a hold of one and scan in the image.

So - any of those cold axon's located near a McDonalds? If so, go inside and ask the supervisor or manager really nicely if they have been getting calls.

--------------------------------------

And for reference, neither location were at the exact coordinates listed, but the phone number listed in the payphone-directory.org were both exactly correct. Do some matching with the coords and the addresses listed on that site - if they match up, and the phone numbers have three 7's in the number, try calling the number and asking nicely where they are, and if they have been getting odd calls.

------------------------------------

Thanks,
Alderaad

9:23am site is inside Seattle Central Community College. Unfortunately it is summer hours, and the building is padlocked Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It does open at 7am the other days, so it should be doable. However, the time and location is not one I can personally get.

10:38am was a total bust. The coordinates are for a small apartment complex, which is locked to nonresidents. There are a few payphones within 1 block, but they either don't ring or don't accept incoming calls. There are a ton of phones up and down the street 2-3 blocks away, but most don't accept calls or dont ring. We waited at the closest one (2 blocks away) but it didn't ring at 10:38. At this point we have NO CLUE about this location, and no desire to investigate further. Unless some more leads come up, it will stay cold.

Murdock, it might very well be that "quite" payphone. I wish I could make it to that phone, but, due to other reasons, I am unable to make it there. Glad that others are trying to get that axon though.

I went to the "Troy" 13:19 PDT 33.850229 -117.998190 site. I meet up with 3 others.
We were at the the pay phone at the south end of the Movieland Wax Museum. The pay phones were tested and they could get calls. In fact one phone got a call wrong number about 10 min. before the set time, but not call came at the time or for 12 min. afterward.
We could have been at the wrong phones and maybe we should be across the street?
The gps point on the map shows it being South of the Wax museum. There is a motel Hometown Inn near this point on the map, but no pay phone, the address is 7777 Beach Blvd.
Just south of the Hometown Inn is a closed Spoons Grill & Bar with a fence around it and this spot seems to dead on to the gps coordinates.

It is dead on.

My map said that the spot would be .5 miles from the 91 off-ramp. When I got off, my milage said <blahblah>.7

It hit .2 when it got to the Spoons. And I said, "Fie fie FIE! Fie onna stick even!"

But there are other phones very near that spot that do ring.

Come to Po Folks! The power of Axons compels you!

This is the location I tried this morning and failed. Here are more details and a map of the immediate area. There is a phone just to the north beside a parking lot. The phone does not ring when called. There is a phone just to the west outside a restaurant, but it does not ring when called either. Another phone nearby is outgoing only. The other phones are all up and down along Broadway, and this is getting pretty far from the coords. Most don't ring or are outgoing only. I also noticed one phone while I was driving by about 3 blocks to the south on the east side of a park. It was in use so I didn't stop to test it. That would be a nice location, but it is quite far from the location, so unlikely.

Most likely it is one of the 2 phones that do not ring. Anyone who tries this location again may wish to attempt random pickups during the 10:38 minute. Also, you might be able to distinguish one very quiet audible "click" when the phone is supposed to be ringing.

I did not have time to attempt this location today, but when I went back for the 17:55 axon, I scoped this out. I have identified 4 likely phones that should be covered. Attached is a map indicating the phone locations. There are also phones 2 blocks south and more farther north, but let's hope we dont have to travel that far.

I was just getting ready to say the same thing darkphan.

Crisko-

Using geocode, I plugged in the address for the Layton Hills Mall, and matched the GPS coordinates exactly. The phone is in the Layton Hills Mall.

I would put up a map, but I am not sure if the kind people at Geocode would like that.
