to clear things up, that was the original list of axons, before they were grouped. Please search before posting, and if anything, this is the wrong thread. But thanks for trying.

How did you even know the McDonald's phone was your target? And does this suggest that Melissa (hello PMs!) is harassing random private individuals around the country???

I wish she'd call ME.

Driving all over Orange County is a lot of gas. Very Happy

At least I know my phone exists, rings, and accepts incoming calls. Very Happy

Maybe I'm rather new to say this but...

What are you talking about? He merely expressed some frustration, and said he understood that you were new, but it's a pain in that patoot that people don't seem to be using search tool. (Or that there's just so much content on here that it can be tricky to use the search tool.) He didn't call you names, he didn't insult you or use any abusive language, he didn't slap you with a fish. I didn't see any anger there at all, much less anger directed specifically at you. I thought it was very well put. So, as a friend of mine likes to say, "Have a Twinkie, and smile."

Oh... And if you're trying to be ironic with your sig... It would work better if it was, "I could never have inhibitions!"

16:03, Burbank, California

I took another stab at the 16:03 meditape coordinate in Burbank, California this afternoon. I opted to watch the four pay phones on the third floor of the Burbank Media Center, since I recalled something about somebody using one of them back on Tuesday. Two of the phones were occupied -- one by a couple of small children whose mother refused to stop them from playing around with the phone Cursing -- and the other two did not ring. Sigh. Perhaps I'll be able to try again tomorrow.

On the other hand, I finally went around afterwards and called all of the phones, and verified that seven of the eight definitely ring for incoming calls, albeit quietly. I couldn't verify the eighth, because the telephone number was obliterated. Someone had handwritten another number over it, but it didn't have the same (818) 239-14xx pattern as the other seven. (I tried calling it anyway, of course, just to be thorough, and ended up disturbing some poor person somewhere else.) Although I can't tell whether that phone rings for an incoming call, I can verify that it was not occupied and did not ring back on Tuesday.

17:55 emergency is now HOT.

I arrived about 45 minutes early to case the joint. The coordinates resolve to a residential neighborhood, and right on top of someone's house. I walked around the entire city block and checked both sides of the street in the process. On the opposite corner of the block, across the street was a little convenience store with 2 payphones out front that both accepted incoming calls and audibly rang (one on the north side, and one on the east). Unfortunately I would not be able to cover both of these. Then I took a walk in the other directions from the coords and located only one other possible phone. It was in the opposite direction as the other 2. I decided I would cover the 2, and maybe run back and forth between them listening for rings. Meanwhile I sat in my car and jotted notes about the phones.

Round about T-15 minutes I got out to head that way, and ran into another beekeeper. We were comparing notes when 2 more showed up. Hooray, we could cover every phone now!

I headed down to cover my initial 2 phones, and we ended up covering them both. I chose the one facing the city block that the coords pointed to. Lo and behold, it rang at the appointed time! I had to give the Operator password. After saying Operator, there was about a 5 second pause, and then I was told it was verified and the emergency WAV played. After passing the phone around to the rest of the mini-seattle crew, we parted ways.

While I was there, I went to scope out the other 2 nearby locations that are still cold. I will post my detailed findings shortly.

so two axons are hot without us ever having done something?

As someone mentioned on another thread, this isn't the only team of Beekeepers out there. It may have been that another group got them.

15:19 UNC Charlotte axon 35.305783, -80.734667

A group of us traveled to the UNCC axon today. (35.305783, -80.734667 15:19 PDT) It is located in Halton arena in the lobby. It was activated by another visitor who said he was from Chapel Hill.

This is an easy site to get to, although parking is limited. There are two pay phones in the building and the correct one is by the western entrance. (The correct phone does NOT have an email station next to it.) I don't know why no one had activated this axon. It was in a nice area and easy to get to.

Here is a map of the campus that will be helpful to anyone else visitng this site:

http://search.uncc.edu/maps/pdf/09.26.03_CampusMap.pdf.

Directions to campus are available here:

One amusing note: Since there were two phones, we set up a triangle with one person near each phone and a third in the middle to signal to the one whose phone did not ring. My poor husband was in the middle and he was standing there looking back and forth between each of us when he was approached by the building manager. The manager inquired if he was "there for the game." My husband then attempted to explain what he was doing there and why he looked like he was at a tennis match. "Well, there's this game called Halo 2 and as a marketing gimmick they are asking people to answer pay phones across the country... and my wife is there and my friend is over there..." At some point in the conversation the man's eyes glazed over as he apparently concluded we were crazy but harmless.

By the way, an odd coincidence at the "emergency" axon we activated. As you know, this WAV is about the police station burning down. The telephone that activated this axon was across the street from a fire department, and within one block of a police station. Have there been any other axons whose locations were relevant to the file they unlocked? Were the WAVs that took place in a restaurant activated by phones found in restaurants?

Cal302-

Which phone did you identify as the correct phone? I was at the AMC theaters on Friday.

See my original post for my findings.

I will try and be at this location later today.

So, if it's still cold, I plan on checking the Indianapolis axon Monday (school should get out in time). My school is...like...3 blocks away from it! Wednesday, at lunch, I went to the Burger King that is...in that shopping center probably at about 9:27. Figures. Didn't see a bunch of beekeepers, but then again, I didn't know it was there...or else I would have been there!

Anybody else planning on showing?

-Sno

PS: The map points to it most likely being at Kinko's...that doesn't accept incoming calls. I just tried calling it..."disconnected." I'll be taking 2 others out there and we'll try everything we can!

one of the Hey_Soilder axons was inside an Waffle place (waffle hut / house) cant remember. I figured it was inside due to all the people on the boardwalk, it might of been impossible to get an open line on any outside payphone on the strip. (Virginia Beach)

There were two trucks outside of the AMC where the phone is located, two BEE trucks. One guy who came out, I talked to him, he said he Loved Bees very much and loves video games, especially that one Halo one.

What day were you there? Saturday? Were you the guy with his mom and sister? I saw the trucks too.

About McBee..I found this:

"McBee Enterprises operates a McDonald's Restaurant franchise in West Bridgewater"

So that may be why it said McBee Enterprises on top of the receipt ..Also, this could have some meaning or it could be coincidence

Guilty activated!!!!!! AXON HOT!

Here's my story.

This morning at 8:00, my brother (we'll call him Redfox) departed for the Axon on his bike (about an 8 mile ride). We were going to meet up at the Axon around 10:30. Me and my other brother (we'll call him Bluejay) left at around 10:10. We arrived at the rendevous point with minutes to spare. To our horror, there was no payphone at rendevous point!

Plan B was to go to a community college down the road that Redfox had scouted earlier. It was the only other place with payphones in the area. With only about a minute to get there, we humped it over to college (I've never seen my brother ride his bike so fast, lol). We pulled up to the college with literally seconds to spare and saw a payphone out in the open. Me and Bluejay jumped out and ran to the payphone. I spotted Redfox about 30 feet down the road booking it to another payphone. A few seconds later, we heard Redfox bellowing out, "GUYS, GUYS, IT'S OVER HERE!!!". Without a second thought, I ran down to meet him, turned the corner, and saw telephone in hand. He had a big grin on his face, and it was obvious that he was listening to "The Operator". I jumped back up the steps and waved Bluejay over.

Redfox said the password, and after he was done listening, he said repeat. After Bluejay had listened, he handed the phone to me. I listened, and when prompted to "continue" or "repeat", said continue. This was followed by a woman saying "I love bees" over and over.

After that we hung around for a little bit, talking and feeling good about ourselves.

While Bluejay and Redfox talked, I started looking for the clues that almost ALWAYS connect the payphone to "ilovebees" or Halo. And that's when I saw it. In the corner of the ceiling, above the payphone, a nest of "Bees". A NEST of BEES!

That my friends is what I call a well thought out ARG.

MISSION SUCCESSFUL! Guilty 48.795015 -122.493547 IS HOT!

P.S. The rendevous that we originally thought to be the Axon was none other than Dairy QUEEN. Coincedence? Five minutes walk from the college? I don't think so.

We'll be hitting 48.738078 -122.486114 Emergency later today. Wish us luck.

Ghost, Redfox and Bluejay,

Out.

P.P.S. A BIG thanks to all you guys! We wouldn't have been able to do it without your help! Very Happy
