Is *this* really the place to be doing campaigning though? Unfiction is out of game and the only people you're "reaching" are the 10 or so of us playing here
Even if I were to read any of the "political debate" going on, whether in jest or not, mudslinging certainly isn't going to get MY vote here, as it doesn't in the real world.

I was thinking the same thing... being a 'candidate' puts you in-game, and 'campaigning' here for an in-game election is sort of against uf policy. I would suggest all candidates put up a website, start a blog, set up a facebook page, make use of twitter, etc. etc. if you want to continue to get your message out. Aim for a bigger audience! And if you want to draw the attention of people here, put links to that material in your signature.
Regarding the tone (and this is the last thing I'll say on the matter)- when a friendly debate of policy and practice deteriorates into picking apart grammar and spelling in an internet slap-fight, the participants in that slap-fight just aren't proving themselves to be worthy of world leadership. I'm sorry for singling anyone out, but it was getting petty fast.

No i agree guys, I appologize to tim if this came across as personal I was just having fun. I did debate and public speaking for several years, and I love a good argument (especially over something as non-sensical as this). I saw your introduction and ran with it. I really wish that there would've been a debate section of this election, but obviously the semantics would've been way too much. Once again, sorry tim if you found this personal, all in good fun mate. good luck to all, and i will go ahead and take tim's advice:

You are giving away my best ideas . I'm sorry you didn't get to be a finalist, but I'm glad I'm not up against you.
You'll find I've been developing my own little ARG side story for my campaign:

In case you are interested, the Ambassador program is open again. From the picture it looks like you get a shirt:

And this is the start of the second week of the election. Voting appears to have dropped off quite a bit. Voting once per day is difficult, but I encourage all of you to consider voting at least once a week to show support for the viral, no matter who your favorite candidate is.

Sorry man, that sign up screen hasn't changed. That is always how you and others signed up for hte ambassador program. But no worries, keep voting and one should be chosen shortly.

Are you sure?... if you sign in there are new videos from Barbara including an Elist More Ambassadors video. This seems like new material to me, but maybe they just swapped out some of Soren for Barbara.
Add that to the fact that the IHC tweeted that they were going to expand the program, I'm pretty sure this is a new drive:

How can you tell that voting has dropped off, are there counters somewhere? The only time i really spend on the ihc's website is to vote so i haven't seen one if there is one. anywho good luck all and I agree whole-heartedly with gdesignr, I would like you vote for me, but whether or not you do, just vote, show sony that arg's are the way to promote their movies so that hopefully we can get more down the road.

Yes, when you vote the email you get to confirm your vote has your vote id number at the end of the URL.

Contestant Tim S Candidate for "Leader of the Post-2012 World" Hi,
My name is Tim S and I am one of the 11 candidates for "Leader of the Post-2012 World".
The campaign video speech posted below was a response to the question:
"The IHC is working to ensure the survival of humanity after the predicted cataclysmic events of Dec. 21, 2012. This disaster will have tremendous impact on our governmental institutions and infrastructure. Therefore the world after 2012 will call for bold vision and strong leadership. If you were elected leader of the post-2012 world, name the 3 things you would immediately do and why. "
Assuming the IHC is doing what it claims, the chances of humanity surviving are already being maximized. But what is being done to maximize the number of survivors?
This is what I would begin doing IMMEDIATELY if elected:

Election coming to an end!!1 Hello again everyone! With the election coming to an end this tuesday at 3 p.m Pacific 6 p.m. eastern (and just so that i dont leave anyone out, that is 4 p.m. mountain, 5 p.m central, and whatever timezone arizona has decided to be in this month, dj knows what I'm talking about.) I just wanted to come in here and try to rally one big final push for votes. This has been a very long process, seriously my wife and I were just saying the other night that it feels like I have been going on and voting for years, not just a month. I know that it is a lot to ask of people who have no true incentive of their own to go and vote everyday for someone that they don't even know to help them win a trip to mexico; but let me say thank you to all of you who have no real life connection to any of us in the final 11 who have gone and voted as much as you have been able to. Whether or not you have been voting for me, you have been voting and I feel that whoever ends up winning will really have earned it. I figure that most of us have roughly the same number of friends and family that we have been pestering and getting to vote everyday, and so unless one of the final 11 has like 100 frat brothers that you've been able to remind to vote everday, than most likely the winner will have been the person who got most of the casual observers to vote for them with their campaign materials. Hopefully you have considered me worthy.
Anyway I was just coming on here to try to remind all of you unforums members and 2012 followers to go on and vote for just 3 more days. Whether voting for me or for one of the other candidates just go on and vote!!!
Thanks again for all support and votes

I'd like to echo what phantomjester said. There are only 2 more days left to vote, and I encourage everyone to vote for their candidate of choice.
When you vote you receive an email that has a confirmation link in it. That link has a number at the end of it which appears to be your vote number. Tracking those numbers over the past month reveals the following graph. The first peak is when the IHC sent out an email about the election and all of the candidates started campaigning. The second peak is when Sony Pictures sent out an email and included information about the 2012 movie, which brought people to the contest. The nearly flat line after that is the daily grind of the loyal repeat voters a handful of new people. It does look like this contest has been dragging out a bit too long.
It should be interesting to see who wins as 60% of the votes seem to come from those daily voters. Help the contest end strong and vote today!
