If you think it may be relevant, I would go with it. Right now, everyone is struggling to figure out even the most obscure answer to any of the brain busters we've been given. And, the best way to contact him would be through youtube. I have had conversations with him over youtube on multiple occasions.

i think 'still looking for a lead' is a clue that nobody has contacted him via youtube with anything of interest in a while.

please don't take this as an excuse to spam him with any idea you have and hope for a response. let's try to get back on track and think up something, actually do research on it, and not take stabs in the dark.

in other words, we need to get our shit together and figure something out. i'll take a look at some of the ideas people have mentioned lately that they haven't checked out on their own and hopefully respond with something useful.

also, i don't mean to point fingers or anything, but half of each page of this thread lately is 'hi, i'm new and here are my ideas,' and it's great that people have ideas, but perhaps if more research could be done by each person, more things can be done... rather than, 'what do you think about XXX' it would be more helpful if you said 'i reasearched XXX and i think there's something/nothing there.'

You make a valid point. Right now, it is too late for me to even THINK straight, let alone research. Tomorrow, I also will take a look at theories and ideas people have and see whether they lead to something or to a dead end.

We shouldn't be sending him ideas, should we? That seems kind of silly.

I've been following these events for awhile, and I have a theory I'm pursuing.

I'm assuming you still live in the same general area as Alex did. What I'd like to know is, has anyone in your area deployed to Iraq since Alex vanished? If so, was anyone killed in action? And finally, if you know, was anyone killed in action under unusual circumstances? You might not know that last one but I figured it was worth a shot.

It's part of a theory I have regarding why Alex was being stalked. Further questions may follow depending on your answers.

Guys, I just had another wild brainwave.

Building on what I said before.

What if Alex went to Iraq to escape SM, and was part of Matt's brigade? If no one knows where he went, maybe he enlisted. Perhaps under a false name. After all, what better way in his mind to escape SM then go to the other side of the world, and surround yourself with lots of guns and weapons in a situation where they're expected.

The J.A.F. blog seems to be indicating that it wasn't Matt who was researching SM. Maybe it was Alex. Maybe SM followed Alex to Iraq, decided enough with the cat-and-mouse game (his motivations are hazy ATM so we don't really know why at this time) and caused the bomb-and-tree-impalement incident. Matt was just the unlucky survivor, so SM came after him. It's another possible theory.

Am I insane?

Edit: [meta] It'd be an interesting twist if he felt safest in a war zone [/meta]
