[META/SPEC] ILB after Halo2 Release? There has been some discussion of the ILB mystery to not be directly related to Halo2, and that it's either related to another game that has something to do with the Halo-verse (a spin-off, if you will) or it's simply another game entirely unrelated to a "real game." Some people have mentioned that it may be ill-timed if it has to do with a spin-off game, as the other game may be confused with or over-shadowed by Halo2. Also, there hasn't been any real firm evidence that this has anything to do with Halo2. So perhaps ILB will continue regardless of when Halo2 is released?

Prolly not. BPs like ILB usually end before the game its promoting comes out. Unlike AI, Halo2 won't need this around to get attention.

I meant directly with Halo2. Maybe this isn't directly related to Halo2. It obviously deals with the Halo mythos, but maybe it has nothing to do with Halo2 .

I agree that its not *directly* connected to H2, but thats not what I quoted with the dot-dot-dot-whose-name-I-can't-currently remember.
We do know, however, know that the events of ILB match up pretty well with the Halo mythos, so we know it has something to do with Halo 2 - Halo 2 is part of the Halo mythos.
Perhaps I misinterpreted what you said as yet another "this has nothing to do with Halo". if so, my apologies.

Getting to your other point (which I'm not sure why I didn't get to in my previous post...)

I was trying to say that maybe ILB isn't meant to promote Halo2 and that it is either meant to promote another game based on the Halo mythos or it's a completely standalone game by itself. Following either of these possibilities means that ILB may continue well after Halo2 is released.
(This is meant to clarify, not start an argument )

I'd be pretty ticked off if this wound up having NOTHING to do with H2.
Unless there's something I'm missing, there's a gap in how the Covenant find Earth at the end of Halo. As speculated here, we're "living through it", bringing the Convenant to Earth ourselves accidentally.
Now, if this ILB thing winds up being something ELSE, I'd feel like I wasted my time.

The gap is closed by the books, but i do think this game is gonna help people who havent read the books out.

I think it would be pretty odd and misleading to have "www.ilovebees.com" in the theatrical trailer for Halo 2 if it didn't have anything do to with the game.
But, that being said, there are signs that point to a winter 2005 release of Xbox 2. I don't think Msoft would want to release its new console without its most prized franchise as a release game.

No it isn't. I went out and bought them a week ago to get a better grasp of this ARG and there is zero, zip, nadda that suggests how the Covenant found earth. There was a device that attached itself to Iriquis, or however it is spelled, "on its way out of Reach", but the last place that ship appears in the books is at Halo itself. The spy device never made it to earth. There is also no evidence to suggest in the books that the Covenant found other information or that such a device attached to any other ship that may have led them to earth.

Well, the Covenant spy device didn't have to see earth to let them know that Earth was nearby. Earlier in The Fall of Reach , there was a paragraph that said "Reach was practically at earth's doorstep." Presumably, the Covenant knew this and didn't have to look far for Earth as long as they knew where Reach was.

If this has nothing to do with Halo2, then why did www.ilovebees.com show up in the theatrical trailer? There are definite ties to it. Even if ILB ends in November, we've still got 2 months of fun, fun, FUN.

I understand what you're saying, but there are people that seem to think that this whole ILB thing has nothing to do with MS, Bungie, Halo, or my pet bird (ok, maybe not my bird). I'm wondering why they'd think that.

That's a hell of a presumption. How would the Covenant know that? And remember, space is vast. "Practically at earth's doorstep" is a relative term.
There is absolutely nothing in the books that shows how the Covenant found earth. That is something that has always been at the back of my mind throughout this. It is not explained at all.

Um. No, I think. As far as I know the only human ship to appear at Halo was The Pillar of Autumn . It might be possible to confuse the Iroqouis with the Autumn , as both were under the command of Keyes. But, when Keyes was assigned to the new mission, he surrendered control of the Iroquois .
Thus, the Iroquois could've shown up at Earth, or been destroyed at Reach, or something else.

There's enough close-enough-to-explanations to not need to spell it out. You got the Spy Drone Thing, which would inevitably go to either Earth or Reach in this situation. You got the incomplete implementation of the Cole Protocol on Reach when it fell. You got Forerunner crystals that, when translated into co-ords, locate planets.
And, there's an AI that seems to be heavilly corrupted by Cov influence, building axons on Earth.
Really, though, there's no need to know. They know.
