Actually, I parsed that third frame as an arm, bent at the elbow, ending in a hand carrying a briefcase.

I doubt that's a briefcase. He hasn't carried one before, or in any other Slenderman works, and he certainly doesn't have briefcases with hands on the bottom. It really looks like a limb ending in a roughly-formed hand. Mid-transformation from tentacle to hand.

SM

At first I thought he was some kind of agent from CIA or FBI or something...just some white bald dude with a suit. Entry #7 is probably the best we've seen of SM, and I think he looks like he does not have....human arms?

has anyone noticed anything having to do with the number 7. it seems to be showing up alot. maybe there is something being missed in video 7. most of the binary codes comes out as 7 if im not mistaken. maybe this can help us find something. maybe TTA knows were over looking something important.

I'm sure that I'm just re-stating the obvious, but Advocate is TTA's 7th response. It's from the same shoot that they were doing in J's 7th post. The binary for the description translates to 7 (which I think is probs only related to the fact that this is his 7th response).

What's our slender-sighting total at these days?

Only the last four digits of the description translates to 7. The full description translates to 55.

Hmm. He may have a less-humanish appearance than originally thought.

@baronvoncakeman [or whatever]: Looking at those three pictures, it looks like his head is hanging down, like he's staring at his feet, but the next picture has him full-on staring at Alex. It seems like his head does another of those crazy head-jerks like in Entry 1, where he suddenly snaps his attention to Alex in less than a frame.

Wow, I hate this acronym for its status as the one of the most overused, annoying and meaningless words today, but seriously, lol @ SM carrying a briefcase. What d'you suppose he'd carry in there? The laptop he uses to access the interwebz? Maybe an iPod? Hmm, maybe he has a day job and uses it to carry his paperwork.

Mehetabel, you made my fucking night. Seriously. I love you.

Dudes, okay, are you serious? SM was created on the Something Awful forums. In other words, expressly not real. It was just a made-up urban legend. For fun. I'd say it's much more likely that SM in Marble Hornets is a combination of a real-life actor and a puppet than anything else.

Within the frames that Incedio took shots of, we don't actually see the character moving. Makes me think that that particular shot was a puppet, as in entry 7, where again he didn't move, and had odd-looking arms. In entry 14, his arms just looked stiff and his legs looked normal, more like an actor with a mask who is attempting to make his arms look fairly tentacle-like.

Also, I don't know, his head always looked quite perfectly featureless to me. Too much so to really look human, which has kinda been the case since the original images showed up.

He's a great character, and we love him, but really, in the end it's a fun piece of fiction.

I'm not quite sure why or how such a character inspires such reactions in people, though. But that's kinda what I got caught up in all this to find out.

It would be no hard task to put attach a pair of twisted-up coat hangers to a mannequin's arms and through a the middle finger on a pair of gloves to give the appearance of tentacle-like, formless arms, such as the one in Entry 13. We know it's fake, but you kind of have to go about it as if it's real.

Yes, I suppose so, though I was more responding to Incedio speculating on what could have caused those effects.

It is rather more fun to treat him as though he's real, isn't it? Kinda makes me want to hold a ritual to invoke him and set him on this woman who...let's just say kind of ruined my week for me.

But I digress.

00110111 Translated to decimal (it's literal numerical value) is 55, you then take that decimal number and apply it to the ASCII character code which translates it into 7.

Alright, so, 7.

What about it?

Gosh, I feel like marathoning the SAW movies to work on my lateral thinking.

I had typed some stuff out, but Wikipedia is far more concise than me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7_%28number%29#In_religion

Voila, Wikipedia to the rescue.

If MH does indeed have Christian undertones, I suppose we could start there. I say that's our best bet, because of allusions to the ark, flood, etc.

In the flood canonized in Judaism? Maybe we could find something in there.

One thing I thought that was somewhat interesting was the use of sevens in the book of Revelation. Sadly, I'm by no means a biblical scholar, so do what you will with this.
