possible discovery...

i am on a cruel beauty anagrams to:

Nautical Bayou Mere

A "mere" is a lake or a pond.

So it anagrams to three water related terms.

Ok, I went to listen to the "video" and thought I heard piano in the background. So, I recorded the audio and amplified the regions between the voice.

There is definitely some music in the background behind the phrases.
I doubt there is enough to identify it though...

Also, I moved the pitch down 30% or so, to make the voice easier to understand.

I really think its saying "I am on a FULL beauty."

Take a listen and see what you think...

Maybe we don't need to identify the music. Maybe all we need to know is what notes are being played?

Working on it. I have this Japanese freeware called wavetone that tells the notes of things I import. But I gotta rip the audio again. Why did they make it so hard on a Mac? Sad

I was thinking about it being "full." A full beauty? As in a full moon?

Anyway. I tried my best but the sound file just wasn't loud enough for me to get it as accurate as I'd like. If someone would like to jack up the sound WITHOUT changing the tone, that would be great. (wav format)

I got these notes (did the best I could) with the original sound file.

D# A# D#

D# E D#

A# G# F D

I think there's one more note in the last one, because I heard it on what mmdoogie posted, but I can't hear it at all on the regular file. And the tone is off in the file mmdoogie posted, and I got a completely different set of letters. But that's from an altered file so I didn't go on that.

I've been listening to the sound clip again and I'm pretty sure that some of the 'notes' are actually chords so working out the name of the note might not work.

and just making sure. did anyone here post on the messed up! site as 'Ron Méliès'?
because I'm having no luck with finding any other videos on different sites.

I've been looking for this video on other sites but couldn't find it anywhere. I guess we should keep looking

The only thing I found is that George Melies was a French filmmaker who directed Le Voyage Dans La Lune (The Trip to the Moon)

I still think at least part of the answer lies in the other links. Consider the clue from "S":
Quote:
Around the world the struggle builds. We count on those around us to spell it out as the big pond grows deeper everyday.

There are many fish in the sea so that not all are caught in the fisherman's net.

I think that we're supposed to be indexing something - i.e., using numbers to count into something and that spells out the next step. I've tried several things, but no luck yet...I just think the wording of the clue is too big a coincidence.

I also wonder if the "many fish in the sea" line is at least partially a clue to us that we aren't "catching" everything...

i always took the "fishermans net" thing to mean that there are so many of us that the sect cant stop us all. but now thinkin about it it could also be meaning that there r so many clues we are not catching them all. i see what you mean.

and the pond he keep referring too still bothers me. what exactly is this big pond he speaks of?

i desided to check out the tie between the french (since lune is french for moon) and the big pond and i came up with a movie form the 1920's which

"provided Chevalier with his first American hit song "Livin' in the Sunlight, Lovin' in the Moonlight"

everything keeps beinging us back to the moon. but what about the moon! im gettin frustrated.

Yeah, the "big pond" is bugging me, too. Actually, all the parts I can't ascribe some meaning to are bugging me. "Around the world the struggle builds" could mean that we need to anagram something, or ROT it. But I'm at a total loss for "the big pond grows deeper every day."

I really think all the numbers in the links are important - the more I work on it, the more I think "There are many fish in the sea so that not all are caught in the fisherman's net" means that the links without numbers are red herrings (they are the "many fish" so that the Sect can't catch all the clues). But that could just be confirmation bias on my part.

the "around the world" part bothers me too. it seems unnecessary which usually means its a clue.

ok thinkin out loud here. that comment on the "messed up" video makes me think that that video is the key, seeing as if the comment is IG then it would be made where they want us to look.

now shadow says they saw seig's face, and the comment allude to other videos. could there be a hint somewhere to another version of the same video but one thats not "messed up"? a version where there is actual video?

Okay, I'm going to summarize what I've done, in case there is something here and I just can't see it.

Taking the links in the comments that have obvious numbers, we have:
West8 (Sep 30 post)
Apollo 14 (Sep 30 post)
Famous5 (Oct 4 post)
20Bees (Oct 7 post)
Plan9 (Oct 7 post)

Using a simple number substitution, that's HNETI. I've tried ROT-ing and anagramming, and so far all I can get is "THINE" which...leads me nowhere as far as I can tell (well, it leads to an OOG blog at blogspot, but other than that nothing). Because the posts appear on the site in reverse chronological order, I also tried TIEHN...nothing.

I then tried using the numbers to index various things in various ways, taking each result and ROT-ing it and looking for obvious anagrams. I also plugged each string into a blogspot address. I got nothing, but here is what I did and what it got me. I also tried both chronological order and read-order for all of them, but I am listing in chronological order. There may be some mistakes here, too.

Counting letters, including the Title of the post, ignoring spaces: DHTAO
The same, counting spaces: EFTEF
Counting letters, starting after the title, ignoring spaces: DWGSH
The same, counting spaces: IEGL_ (the last one landed on a space)
Counting letters in the associated comment, ignoring spaces: ENOEO
The same, counting spaces: NLMPA
Counting words in the post, skipping the title: their of night the and
Counting words, beginning in the title: Demons in the the air
Counting words in the associated comment: thought not is beautiful ages

Where I used the words, I tried a google search for the resultant string of words, tried putting them into a blog title, and then used the first letter of each word to do everything I mentioned above (ROT, anagram, etc).

"Demons in the the air" is exciting...but I can't make it lead anywhere. It did make me notice that the October 4 post (where the first "the" comes from) actually says "Tonight is the the night that Lune reveals all" with a double "the" -- but I don't know if it means anything- it could just be a mistake.
