The Watchmen maybe? Are we ust talking to a video game and comic nerd?

Of course , there is quite a blurry line between games, comics and movies.

Watchman was all three, as was Batman especially as it relates to this since there was a recent launch of Batman Arkham Asylum. The Asylum was a sizable part of Batman Begins.

edit:grammer and spelling (man where is spellcheck on this thing?)

So I sent an email to addy on site:

Quote:
Wow! I came across your site and am very intrigued.... I would love to know how you do that with your wallet... I usually go to bed with $5 in my wallet and wake up with $1... and what's the deal with the Minnesota thing? Anyways... Thanks for sharing!

And got this:

Quote:
Thank you, friend!

Secrets are best lured when starved.

So I sent a reply:

Quote:
And The Starving are best lured in Secret..... Just kidding my friend! I look forward to updates on your site... where did the name Hatshoe come from? I've never heard of it before...

[edit - let's save the spoiler code for puzzle solves and tv/movies/book plot points. Email responses are something you are sharing in uF so no need to spoiler, just keep doing the quote function and it's perfect. Thanks kona]

Gotcha! Thanks Kona! Was going the safer than sorry route.

If you remember, i believe it was whitecross who figured out that 'hatshoe.org' may be an anagram of 'Sheogorath', a God from the Elder Scrolls series of games. Since then, the PM has added more Elder Scrolls references so it looks to be a correct deduction. It looks as though he's adding clues when we solve them, so maybe we need to go back and look at what we have to get more. I can't see any stegged images or anagrams, but that alternate text on 'Tan' is quite interesting, and the writing itself is really weird!

Here is some food for thought.

The third sentance in "Station" is missing some words. They are:
Know
at
a

If you anagram those you come up with Katanow which is apperantly ancient Greek for I understand, observe well, I percive or I learn

http://www.learnancientgreek.com/GREEK_VERBS.PDF

Now there is also an 's' that is part of the word 'works' that too is not included in the 3rd sentance so if you throw that into the anagram you get "A Snow Kat" which is a vehicle used to move snow around like to groom ski slopes. Certainly a snow kat in winter in Minnesota could be responsible for the deaths of 3 postal workers however I too could find no mention of it or by any method either.

Just something to nibble on, they don't seem right but I thought I might save someone wth a simialr thought the work.

BTW< he does add "ses" to gas in the seond sentance but then takes them away in the third so I didn't consider them.

Edit: Also the s version also anagrams to "ask wotan" which is another name for Odin but seems even less like a fit.

Also something I didn't know until now is that Scribblenauts mentioned in "fishing rod" is a game for nintendo DS. You can type in thousands of words to use to solve puzzles.

Does anyone know if the quote "There is no terror but the freedom from illusion" is a quote from a known video game source? The reason I ask is because if you search for it you find only one hit on Google. I was a little reluctant to post this because that hit is a twitter account from (what appears to be) a real life individual. If you go to their account (I won't post a link just to obfuscate a tiny amount) you will see posts referencing Sheogorath as well. Which makes it seem like too much of a coincidence. The reason I was reluctant is because it seems like that points towards this being that person's work and if it's the PM and they don't want people to know who they are I didn't really want to "out" them. OTOH I found this with a simple web search so I'm sure others will as well... of course it could be a coincidence but it seems like a big one.

Hmm, well I can't find that quote as a whole anywhere else. I don't know the reference off the top of my head but I'll keep thinking, odd that it would appear in both places and ONLY those.

I agree, it seems to have reached a general stand still. I haven't been able to find the twitter account that quotes "There is no terror but the freedom from illusion," can anyone else?

Three new categories are up.... 'Dog Lady' 'Natural' and 'Recipe'. Recipe is something pretty crazy and dangerous... and it's the first that has been cut off at the bottom of the page...

So new to this and read over the hatshoe.org and noticed that this guy has a lot of trouble spelling......could that be intentional as a clue or just part of his rambling?

Oddly, the Google search result that I was referencing is now gone...however, the page that was on that search result is still there, and still contains that quote.

The reason I say it seems to be a real life individual is because they have non-trivial twitter history extending back over a year, and they have a deviantart webpage linked through their account that has non-trivial amounts of (what appears to be) real-life content, along with a set of real-life friends. That would be a lot of work to go through just to set up a fictional persona for a game. But if it isn't a fictional persona, if it really is the PM, why make it so easy to find him/her? That quote is a dead giveaway. I'm left feeling like either a) that quote is from a video game, and that's why 2 unrelated people used it, b) it's just an incredible coincidence (and I don't believe in them when it comes to ARGs :] ), c) that really is the PM and he doesn't mind if we know who he is, d) that really is the PM and he just made a mistake. I'm not posting the account name in case it's "d", but I'd be happy to send the link to anyone who PMs me.

I'm starting to lean back towards "a", that maybe it's a quote, possibly from Elder Scrolls. Does anybody know? I'm not playing through the entire game to find out. Wink

I'm still wondering about the message in the code for 'Door Unlock' about the 'first few batches being a smokescreen'. It seems the only thing that really pointing to a puzzle... I would assume that he's talking about some of his messages... but I dont seem to be 'astute' enough to figure it out... hehe..

I sent this email on Saturday and got the reply below this afternoon. Just those words nothing else.

Weird Movie

Good day my friend,

I saw on your site that you recently saw Batman Begins. I thought it was pretty good. Other than thinking it weird, did you like it. Speaking of that, you seem to be a gamer so have you had a chance to play the new Arkham Asylum game? My son played it, he is more of the console player in the house, he really liked it but thought it was a little weird especially the part where you have to fight drugged.

I also saw your remarks on Daggerfall vs Morrowwind which is more of what I play. I played both and I agree somewhat. My only "problem" with Daggerfall was the scale it was, lol, too big. I kinda got lost in it. Morrowwind was easier to focus on the main quest which I like 'cause it feels like you are progessing. I guess I'm just weird that way. Smile

Ric

You are kind, sir.

Sort of an odd response, I thought, since it made no reference to the email.

I'm guessing the 'smokescreen' he's talking about is the entries. Maybe he's just saying they are there to throw people off while the ones he has posted recently are the real clues.

In the code of 'Recipe' there is a message, "How many offenders and what are their names?" A new clue much? Is it referring to these postal workers that were killed or is that a red herring for the reasons described above?

I don't think we should get caught up on the Twitter account, let's keep it in mind but not focus on it too hard. I have only fully played Oblivion in the Elder Scrolls series and have never finished Daggerfall or Morrowind, never played the others. I wouldn't kow if the quote found on the Twitter account is a quote from any of the others but I don't recall it being in Oblivion.

Also, don't know if anyone saw this in the code for the 'Sleepwalk' entry but there's another piece of text, "I hate to hide code within code, but I have. Every document is a piece of the whole". So, that's not great info, but what we seem to be looking at is a whole journal of some sort.

I'm going to keep pumping the PM for details and try to look over the pages again, see what I can find.

I agree there are just too many lines in the 4 games let alone every game to remember that one line. It's not a tag line or I'm sure it would have been a result of some search.

edit:for clarity
