Interesting to note that antarcticsun.usap.gov is dedicated to the United States Antarctic Program...

The PW has to be something personal to Moon... where can we learn more about him? Lucy's blog? He had a SLS pamphlet, and seems to have gained more "knowledge" of the Linian civilization than the average Antarctic peon. We're not going to get the PW from Lucy unless she stumbles upon more information from his office... unless she already has and we don't know it. Have to go back through her vids...

The other thing that I can't let go of is the possibility that there's something out there on the Macker Foundation... and Ben's parents. I wish Rand and Ben would update... like where have they been since May/June?

Reply to Jared

This may be too late. My thinking was that you (Caterpillar) should either ignore the question completely (later you can say you forgot because there were so many other things on your mind when you were writing. Or, you can tell him the truth, but point out that Lucy seemed to be trying to give out the hint - tell him exactly how you got it, apologize, but say that considering her public posts, your inability to contact Jared, Lizzie, or Matt, and the urgency of matters, you took the liberty. Point out that if you had not replied to what seemed like an obvious hint from Lucy, you would never have been able to contact him (Jared). You may also want to ask him if he understood the end of her video, and whether the "poster of [Niels Bohr] may have been another veiled clue to what is going on. Lastly, you may ask about Lizzie and Matt - if he has information about them, or contact information for him. Reiterate that Lucy's safety is your highest priority!

I'm so sorry this is so late - I've had to deal with the death of an old friend this week, and have had a lot of writing to do...

Latest to Jared...

Quote:
Jared... If you can contact Lucy in any form that may be considered URGENT, please do so ASAP. She needs to prepare herself for a forthcoming investigation involving Moon, and by association herself as well. They're [at least for the moment] calling it a "breach of conduct" investigation. She needs to ready herself for the shitstorm.

We've intercepted some communication from B. Littleton, leader of BSAI's "Blue Group" as follows:
_______________________________________________

We've been briefed on the subjects of our investigation. Both are members of the Green Group. Unfortunately that is about all I can say. The rest is highly classified. For our eyes only. I will say that both are in deep. The team includes myself, my colleague Dr. Clint, a man and a woman I am unfamiliar with, but who look serious, and young Zac Bruney,... who was dismissed from the blue group following an incident in April, but has apparently been reassigned elsewhere within the institution.
_______________________________________________

(Dr Clint is the leader of the "Yellow Group")

UPDATE on Moon's File...

I'm ashamed to say so.... especially after touting ourselves as worthy of the job.....but we're not having much luck with the remote server file. The primary hurdle is not having enough information on Moon himself. Lucy was on the right track with looking for something personal in those files she "borrowed" from his office. But out here, we have practically "zip" to go on.

She may be monitored too closely by Mr. Crest's investigative "team" to be of much assistance, but after taking the temperature of the "investigative water", let's see if maybe she can A) scan the files or B) have another peek into Moon's office. Do not let her take any risks, it's not worth something happening to her, and if she's still in possession of Moon's files..... tell her she had better find a good hiding place.

Fingers Xed

I saw that and thought it might lead to the PW. It's an image of Bonaparte Point... and I immediately thought "Aha!... PW = Napoleon!|

No love though.... Sad

What username are you using to access Moon's remote server?

Follow up from Jared to the email above. What do y'all think? *Is* there someplace she can go? Any way Rand or Ben could help? Do you think she could actually be in danger? I thought they'd just question her because of her association with Moon, but I did advise Jared to get her to hide the files she took from Moon's office. ...thoughts???

Wait, what? Jesus, what are they going to do to her? This better not have anything to do with what you guys are up to. Dammit, I knew this was a bad idea. We need to get her out of there. Where can she go? How long do we have?

Even if there was such a place - and I can't think of one - wouldn't it look as if she was involved in whatever Moon's up to? I'd say that'd be a bad move.

Maybe additionally point out to Jared & Lucy that, according to the BSAI site, Dr. Clint is "... interested in the mental instability of those living and working in Antarctica." and emphasize how important it is for Lucy to stay calm and composed, unless she wants him to take more interest in her than necessary - especially given her current condition. Also, knowing that flattery's the way to handle Littleton might help.

I told Jared we had a couple of days according to Littleton's statement that they've been stranded at HQ due to bad weather. His reply:

Quote:
I need more information about who you people are. I feel like there's something you're not telling me. If you want me to help you, I need all of your cards on the table.

Now it gets sticky. Maybe y'all can throw out some suggestions and we can come to a consensus about to say.... I'm not sure how we should approach this.

I think it's about time to tell Jared of rootsofatree so he can see/read for himself. After all it's only a Google-search for "Lucy Bastiana" away and sooner or later he'll discover it anyway.

Email to Jared:

Quote:
Well here is a site that may get you more of the answers you seek, and it's far easier than typing it all out - It's Fritz's blog... and Fritz is the fellow I mentioned who used to work for the SLS.... and most importantly, he asked for help.

One more thing.... if you read that blog, you'll know that we were able to access Lucy's private blog by hacking into your account, which is of course where we found your email address. I apologize for this, but it was a necessary evil, and one which was not taken lightly nor abused. Hopefully after reading Fritz's blog, you'll understand.

No news from Jared? At least he hasn't changed his password yet...

There's a new comment from Dr. Park on Lucy's blog: Park & Moon had an affair a while ago and she asks Lucy to keep quiet about it. Which gave me an idea for Moon's server:

There's lots of stuff to look into, including another password-protected "Secure Area". We'll be busy for a while. Smile

Lots of stuff in there.... that makes zero sense to me...lol.

Reply from Jared... not a happy camper:

Quote:
i've warned Lucy. but not to help you. i bet you want to get your filthy hands on those mnemonics or whatever. i bet you want to get your goddamn hands on something in that filestore. that's what this has all been about. i sent her all of that info and now she's knows too much, like that byrnes woman. she was just a tool to you. you never cared about her and now she's in shit and where are you? a world away. i just pray you're all crazy, that this is all paranoia and that she'll come home unchanged and put this all behind her.

if anything happens to her...

My reply:

Quote:
I understand your reticence to trust us, but quite honestly I have absolutely zero interest in the mnemonics, at this point anyway. You're right in that we don't know Lucy, and that prior to finding that she was in the path of trouble, she was simply an unknown woman with an "in" to further information on what the BSAI was up to. I'm not entirely sure that I trust the SLS either, but I do trust them more.... and I do trust Fritz.

We certainly have an interest in trying to figure out what secrets they are all trying to keep, what unknowns they are racing against each other for....

But our first and foremost concern at the moment is definitely Lucy's safety. For Lucy's sake alone, not mine or anyone else's.

You can choose to trust that or not, but remember - it is not I nor my comrades who put her in harm's way. That honor belongs to the BSAI and Dr. Wayne Moon. We found you, we contacted you, and we asked that you warn your friend of the impending danger in what she's been involved in [through no fault of her own]......... surely that's worth something?

And here's a question? Was there a way to figure out Wayne's password prior to Yoon's post? How were we supposed to get that? I don't recall anything that led me to believe she was any significant part of Moon's life.... but my memory is pretty crappy lately too.

Your patience is admirable, Caterpillar. I'd never manage to be as reasonable and polite with Jared as you are. Smile

I spent some time with Moon's trash-files and found some hidden text in 432.pdf (copy attached). Short version, the way I understand it:

The BSAI keeps their members/employees in the dark about Cognomi, Norene Byrnes and the Society for Linian studies. Moon found out about them anyway and first started his own research, then teamed up with Daniel Cooper to find out more. Moon delayed his and Lucy's project on purpose in order to gain more time for his own research. He got in touch with the BSAI's Orange Team, whose members live in an area not too far away from the Arctic station, and afterwards decided to leave for good because otherwise he would „risk bringing trouble upon the innocents around me no person with even a sliver of an idea of what i know is safe the only option is to run no goodbyes now an Orange Badge".

After leaving Antarctica Moon is now looking into the death of a BSAI member - "The Swede" - who died in Stockholm on October 12th, 1992. Apparently the Swede „got on the bad side" of the BSAI. Moon's friend, Daniel Cooper, will join him.

Some musings on Moon's musings....

The old book Moon saw and held, was likely one of the few copies of Cognomi's Linia in existence.

The lines from the book that Moon can recall translate to ".. .a more advanced civilization than ours, living isolated at the bottom of the world."

Lover Green Badge is Yoon Young.

Moon makes friends with Daniel Cooper.

Moon learned much about Norene Byrnes, including that she was likely murdered by BSAI.

The BSAI [with Moon's help] has developed a possible "key" to the Linian mnemonics that they have yet to apply, or yet to figure out how to apply.

Lyman Emery doesn't necessarily agree with Cooper's take on Norene's murder/death.

Norene's notes may be with the BSAI.

The Swede was a BSAI, but must have "stumbled" upon something because he was fired, blacklisted, and murdered. The Swede was likely the same man Yoon Young's father was searching for when he was "drowned". He was the one who gave the neighborhood boys the soccer ball that Yoon Young writes about to Moon in an email.

Quote:
Apparently a foreigner had given it to them. It seemed too strange a story for the boys to make up, but my father also knew that the only foreigners in that area were from the military base, and Americans don't play that sport. When he questioned them further the boys explained that they saw the foreigner almost everyday. While they were playing after lunch the man would be smoking a cigarette across the street outside of a small market. Being children, they tried to talk to him and said that though he sounded strange, his Korean was very good. He was Swedish and he worked near the DMZ, but was on vacation. My father had to get home, but he told my mother and I all about it at dinner that night. He was so excited to meet this Swede that he kept tapping his chopsticks together while he talked.

Moon purposely dragged out his research with Lucy in order to buy time and be left alone at the station with minimal personnel.

Orange team has practically gone rogue and have been "out of touch" and seem to be using mnemonics? Looks as though this is purposeful by BSAI in an attempt to somehow recreate the "miniature renaissance" experienced by Benjamin Smyth himself. This seems to be their "purpose".

Lyman is out to avenge Noreen, and it will be a costly effort. Moon wants to stop him.

Cooper, in a effort to find Noreen's records - recruited us? He tells Moon not to worry, others will do the work to find the records

Oh oh! This doesn't sound good:
facebook wrote:

Branford Littleton: Our work at Smyth Station VII has concluded. One of our persons of interest has been accounted for. A scene we have encountered before. Some people are just unable to cope with life in Antarctica. I'm sure there were preexisting factors. Looking... forward to Dr. Clint's analysis. But our investigation is not over. The other is missing. The search begins

Tricia McMillan:This sound rather ominous. Please explain: did you find this person and he/she was in an unstable state of mind, or what exactly do you mean by 'accounted for'?

Branford Littleton: I really can't comment any further until Dr. Clint has completed his analysis and the family has been notified.
Shocked

ETA: I went digging in Moon's trash again. Do we know who this guy is? His image is embedded in the TimeModel-flash-file. Unfortunately my software doesn't allow me to export the original image, so this is just a screenshot.
