Just thought id pop in to say if there are any more London drops I may be able to do them for you as I live in south London (cant promise though). Bit dubious about doing the first drop as its over a week old.

Also I haven't read the whole thread but a world of words is surely a book, if the key is a candle burn the book maybe?

Or could a world of words be a map?

probably useless but oh well.

www.thirdrealm.org/book/ exists, but I think it was something used earlier on, unless something on that page becomes more relevant now..

Map or atlas would be the other way to go, but so far nothing exists for those two unless a clever synonym is being used...

This just popped into my head:: Illumination is used sometimes for the process of learning something... ((see Illuminati, the Illumination, the (Era of) Enlightenment, etc.))

to me:: 'when "in the dark", take "a candle" and "Illuminate" your path', means something like: if you are lost or don't know/understand, use a tool (book/teacher/resource) and learn something.

Also, to free the Yellow King, it seems like we have to be 'Original'? in order not to be a repeater/Prophet (who takes what someone says and spreads it to other people).

There's something we don't understand yet, we need to 'learn' what we don't *know* to free the King. Maybe we need to look at something in a new light? ((no pun intended))

I'm really convinced a Candle is synonymous with "Knowledge", but I can't think of any good words for it which lead to a new page.

What I think is that "candle", "flame", "oxygen" are passwords to decode the king+in+yellow.gif in which definitely something is hidden. But none of the hints given makes me able to understand how we can decode this file.

Have tried those words and quite a few others as the PW with Hide In Pictures. That desteg tool is speciifically used for bitmaps and gifs yet no joy here. Kewl finding those new pages tho', AUZ.

I've tried sticking candle and candle.html on the end of everything since the 'illuminate the path' comment... Although, illuminate is to bring light to, so perhaps I need to be trying light and not candle...

Just to clarify some things.
The 173 is the zip file and the 231 is the gif contained within. I do not understand the "contemplate the quarry" hint.

EDIT:
Maybe the "quarry" is the 1 KB file found in the strange MACOS folder ??

Perhaps you could try to desteg the resulting gif again, maybe with "flame" and "oxygen" since thirdrealm said before:
