The lack of the operator symbol anywhere in the notebook from JAF makes me pretty sure they're not two parts of the same thing, but rather two games/stories with the same subject.

The Golden Rule of Marble Hornets, yet again:

MH is its own story. Anything you've read about SM, anywhere, has nothing to do with MH's Slender Man unless it's established within MH. And, I mean, explicitly established. Like, Slender Man says it. Maybe TTA sure as hell can't talk like a person and J is an unreliable narrator (Well, that last bit may just be me).

But, really, don't look for SM being tied to anything outside of MH.

I was thinking this earlier today: we actually don't even have any reference w/in MH to indicate SM is malevolent. For all we know SM just wants a hug. Smile

Guys I thought of something rather chilling...

What happened to Alex's dog? It's in the second entry, or mentioned there, and then never mentioned again.

In the entries where SM is lurking around the outside of Alex's house, why don't we hear a dog going nuts (as was established in the second entry, dog went nuts when SM was near)?

In entry 15, Tim specifically mentions animals ending up killed on Alex's lawn...

I think this won't help solve any mysteries, but finding out what happened to the dog might settle the "observation vs. malevolence" debate on SM's part.

We don't know what kind of dog it is/was. If it's a small breed, that perhaps it lived inside the house at all times with the family. And only went outside for walks to do it's business.

Or perhaps it was a larger breed. We just don't know. If the dog was indeed hurt or killed in anyway during these events I'm sure it would have been pointed out.

Yeah, I really don't think that there's a connection between MH and JAF besides being based in the same myth.

You know, the thing with the dog is that it could have been anything. Most cynically, the creators just used it as a plot device and forgot about it. Then again, remember, it was Tim telling us about the dead animals. Major suspicion has already begun to focus on him lately, so we can't necessarily give credence to what he says.

For that matter, SM might just not like animals.

The way I see it, the slender man is certainly a freak (in the best possible way, of course) but I think if he was really there for a really, really bad purpose, he would have started killing people and doing more horrible things than he has done so far. There doesn't seem to be too much evidence to his malevolence besides a couple shots of Alex with blood on his head, and even that was there before he walked into the room. I think half of the creepy things happened have more to do with his otherworldy aura than a necessary intent upon destruction.

So...yeah. Until proven otherwise, I'm sticking to the pro-SM side.

I like the point about Alex's dog, knowing what happened to it would make short work of the Evil V. Curious question.

Man that'd be a hug that just wouldn't quit.

Okay, so, as I had been meaning to do this for a while, I made a slender man TVTropes page to spread the word.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheSlenderManMythos

If you want to contribute or edit it feel free to go ahead. You don't have to join the site to be a contributor, though it does bring benefits.

Oh, another thing, I was thinking of creating slender man products, such as tee shirts and coffee mugs and the like for CafePress. I'm an artist and I need something to do until I get a real job (and even then, I'lll probably be at it). So, would anybody be interested?

Slender Man masks? Like, just a full skin colored mask that covers the whole head. It'd be pretty simple, in theory.

Also, this should be it's own thread. Maybe "Slender Man Merchandise."

The Dog has been brought up on more than one occasion before now, and has been rectified the same way: Someone asked J what happened to it, he said Alex took it with him when he moved away.

Has anyone suggested that maybe SM is a robot? What if he's some kind of android or something, equipped with ultra-advanced technology who's on a mission to kill Alex?

Kind of a stretch, I guess...

I think it would be awesome, and I can't really buy anything online but I love the idea. I wish I could, because I absolutely would, depending on the merchandise.

My teacher has this wooden doll where you can play with it to change it into various positions, and a slender man version of that would be awesome.

I think SM would kill animals because you know how they freak out when there's like a hurricane or something coming, like an earthquake? Maybe they were too much of a risk to have around, since he was trying to be all sneaky. Or the dog just peed on his leg or something ;D
