[SPEC] pious flea=G.O.D?

pious, obviously, means religious and/or held high religiously.
the pious flea could be a jesus-tupe figure, or a god.
so when the spdr tryed to kill the flea, melissa could'nt stand having a god killed, and killed the spider.
and the reason melissa is taking orders from the flea, is because the flea is a god.

other note, when i think of the pious flea, i think of flea from mucha lucha for some reason.

For a moment I thought you were talking about hte Graphical Omniscient Device from "When H.A.R.L.I.E. Was One".

No, the Pious Flea is not a god. The Pious FLewa is a very small artificial intelligence that wants to repair the Operator for its own purposes - purposes that conflicted with SPDR's.

That's why the Flea pretended to be a newer version of SPDR - to trick Melissa into giving it the power to delete the interfering SPDR.

Not to worry, mreddy - we all make mistakes.

However, judging by how the Flea's been named, the general consensus is that it's a Covenant AI -the Covenant being the theocratic alliance of various alien races that are waging a holy war against humanity in the Halo books and game.

A lot of their ships have names that reflect this religious bent - the Unyielding Hierophant and Truth and Reconciliation, to name a couple.

Because of the religious nature of the Covenant race, the fact that is is called the "pious" flea could in fact be a clue as to the possibility that it is covenent spy AI.

Pious means loyal. Not necessarily loyal to a God, but loyal.

true, but you would be hard pressed to find a dictionary definition of the word "pious" without religion being directly involved. i searched google for definitions and every one i looked at noted religion in the first meaning.

more linking to the covenant tho, the ai being a "slave" to the covenant, therefore being loyal to his masters?

Well, this is technically true, as pious comes from the latin word puis, which translates to dutiful. However, in most cases the word has come to mean in most cases as a religious loyality. However, this is far from being God-like.

In addition, I also found this site:
http://www.pious.org/
Quote:
Pious is a cultural center for peaceful resolution of societal conflicts. Historically, humankind has pursued war and oppression in the name of religion. But the solution is actually quite simple - a pious life is about love, not hate.

And maybe something more interesting:
Quote:
Pious also maintains a list of the Seven Heavenly Virtues

SEVEN heavenly virtues? Coincidence...?

Sins and Virtues

FYI, these are faith, hope, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance, and prudence

There are four Cardinal Virtues (prudence, temperance, courage, justice), three Theological Virtues (love, hope, faith), which have been combined to form the seven Heavenly Virtues.

There are also seven Contrary Virtues (humility, kindness, abstinence, chastity, patience, liberality, diligence) which contradict the Seven Deadly Sins (pride, envy, gluttony, lust, wrath, greed, sloth), and seven Corporal Works of Mercy (feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, give shelter to strangers, clothe the naked, visit the sick, minister to prisoners, and bury the dead)
