Well, this sure is interesting. Likely this whole shenanigan is just problems with windows/flash player. Ive tried 5 computers here at my house, none of which gave me consistent results....

@John Galt: Good note on the resolution, looks kinda sloppy to me, sorta fuzzy.

@Sylocat: "I have a feeling that the scene on the site is going to change... instead of seeing his study, we'll be looking at his room on the ship he's taking" Now that is a great theory! Seems fairly reasonable too, just seems to fit right in this situation.

The photo of his wife (ex?) and daughter takes you back to the study now.

He must of taken up whoever it was' offer to go on a random hunt around the sea. Unless he solved the 5x5 box and it's given him some coordinates or something.

reason for the missing or present box
fROM THE WIKI.

So I was checking out the wiki, seems there is a reason for our box problem.

Depending on whether or not the viewer has solved the "Coordinate Piano" of the Jewelry Box puzzle, the site will appear in different ways:

Scenario 1 - The metal box is gone. This scenario appears to hinge on the solving of the jewel box puzzle earlier in the game which in turn causes the first level of the metal box puzzle to disappear, whether solved or not.

Scenario 2 - The metal box remains on the table in a paper bag and opens to the first level puzzle. This occurs on a computer on which the jewel box puzzle was never solved resulting in the metal box continuing to open to the first level puzzle even after level one was successfully solved.

Scenario 3 - The metal box remains on the table in a paper bag and opens to the first level puzzle on a computer from which the site is accessed for the first time. The jewel box puzzle and lack of it's solution is likely the cause as in Scenario 2.

BRIX I HAVE SHAT THEM AGAIN

Sylocat you totally called it! For those too lazy to go and click the gone fishin note here is the new URL to his bunk room

http://www.somethinginthesea.com/ship/

From the looks of things his small pockets have gotten him a spot in steerage. Although if you notice the metal box isnt in his bunk room, so there still seems to be some problems here. Also i have a feeling that marks laziness (he forgot to fix his door before he left) will lead to some unexpected visitors! This is getting good Smile

I'm getting a feeling that the ship is going to get attacked...

Nice call on the ship, Sylocat. However, I can't imagine that this will be Mark's direct voyage to Rapture. We still have three months or so until the game comes out, and I think Mark believes he knows how to get into the box, but judging by the complexity of this whole story I imagine we'll have a fair few weeks of floating at sea and messing with the puzzle before it actually opens up. Plus, it might be draw some unwanted attention if Mark just has the ship drop him off at a lighthouse in the middle of the Atlantic, that is if whatever is inside the box gives Mark the exact location of Rapture and not just another puzzle.

new Location

@Sylocat that's true however couldn't Jack opt to turn the little sisters human in the game if the player wanted to get the good ending? So on the off chance he actually gets to Rapture AND manages to get a working bathysphere he might have a chance to turn her back although that is Highly unlikely... Confused

HAHAH! Oh wow, that's awesome! I wonder how long it would have taken for us to figure that out.

Yes, Jack could do it, but Tenenbaum taught him how, and gave him the special tools.
Mark, as far as we know, doesn't even know yet what Little Sisters ARE, and when he finds Cindy and notices that something is a little off about her, he won't have a clue what to do.

Oh, I don't believe he'll get there right away. [TIAG]They wouldn't set up a whole new room on a ship just to have Phase 3 last a few days, after all.[/TIAG] However, I do think he'll get there eventually.
Maybe for the final phase, in a couple months, he'll reach Rapture, and we'll have to help him dodge the Splicers and find Cindy, and maybe find the slug-extractor, or piece one together from scraps (that would be an AWESOME final puzzle, maybe on the eve of the game's release).
