Has anyone had their settings reset? I just tried to get back into the 2nd level of the box and the page froze, and now I have to start the puzzles from scratch.

That is stupid logic.

What was that on the answer phone about Mark looking for a childrens book that belonged to Cindy? Is it something from earlier on?

I assume that message refers to A Child's Garden of Ciphers, a book that Lutwidge wrote, that Mark has been using to crack the codes.

But why would there be "panicked phone calls" over that?

Woohoo! 5x5 box solved! The solution is "Carrowmore" (as in that place in Ireland). Looks like another puzzle inside!

ALRIGHT BOYS AND GIRL! Get on your thinking caps.

We have a new riddle!

Aside from figuring out how all these things fit in this stupid box the new riddle consists of:

20 panels 10x2 which flash a series of letters.
A set of typewriting keys made up of the letters A, D, E, N, R, W, Y.

The message from what I've gathered is as follows:

AYNYANEWAW
ERAYNAANNR
NYNANRAANR
NYEYEYEADY
DRANNRDRDY
EANADWRWRW
AARAAYDRRY
AYRYNAANAN
EANNEAAWEW
RWNYEY

When these 7 letters are put into an anagram solutionizer... we get

ANDREW DENARY WANDER WARDEN WARNED YARNED YAWNED YAWNER AWNED DAWEN DEARY DERAY DEWAN DEWAR DRAWN NERDY RANDY RAYED READY REDAN REWAN WADER WANED WANEY WARED WEARY YAWED YEARN AERY ANEW AWED AWNY AWRY DARE DARN DAWN DEAN DEAR DENY DEWY DRAW DRAY DREW DYER DYNE EARN EYRA NARD NARY NEAR NERD RAND READ REND RYAN RYND WADE WADY WAND WANE WANY WARD WARE WARN WARY WEAN WEAR WEND WREN WYND YARD YARE YARN YAWN YEAN YEAR AND ANE ANY ARE AWE AWN AYE DAW DAY DEN DEW DEY DRY DYE EAR END ERA ERN NAE NAW NAY NEW RAD RAN RAW RAY RED RYA RYE WAD WAE WAN WAR WAY WED WEN WRY WYE WYN YAR YAW YEA YEN YEW AD AE AN AR AW AY DE EN ER NA NE RE WE YA YE

Well I don't know what its spelling out because its not the password, I just took the time to write it all out and punch it in to no success... anyway for anyone who can translate (now that the 5x5 is open i can't find another translator)

Ship Update

If anyone has yet to notice (because of all the hype with the 5x5 and all) Meltzer has set up his SW kit as a kind answering machine. There is a blinking red button on the lower amp stack on the ship (far right side) push it and a message plays back. Its something about his microphone being a piece of crap...

EDIT After solving the 5x5 an array of what are called "Nixie" tubes are displayed with several entry buttons on the bottom, i believe this is the gyroscope calibration i was talking about. Some other much longer code needs to be entered with the limited buttons it is presenting us with. However this last puzzle appears to be THE 7 FOLD LOCK, as there are 7 input buttons for this last puzzle.

PS. (unrelated) Nixie tubes are 50's-60's style LED displays, they can be configured to have each tube display a wide array of digits numerals or anything one could imagine, im rather interested in these little guys and plan on building a nixie-clock at some point ^_^.

part of me hopes this isn't the case and that there are many more elaborate puzzles awaiting us.

I'm wondering if Lutwidge already had some plasmids before he made this thing... some of the teleporting/telekinesis ones are the only plausible explanation I can think of for how all this stuff fits in that box.

Okay, Cataclysmic V, I think it's time for another live brainstorming session. Will you be on Yahoo tomorrow afternoon?

(and, as always, everyone else is welcome to join in the live chat).

The letter for Z doesn't appear on mine! Maybe it's different everytime like the one that came before the 5x5
