OK, I said I'd post my email chain with Hatshoe, so here we go. The first email that I sent was in notepad form, I sent it as a pdf, you can download it here: http://www.adamhunter.net/2601_001.pdf The text of it (for those who don't want to bother) was a passage from Castlevania: SotN where Belmont accosts Dracula, and I took individual letters and faded them to spell "i am lost". The subject was "help" and there was no body.

His email back to me was . The text of that image says: "It might be too early to tell if you are the one to play the role, but you have pierced the membrane. Others might follow. Lead carefully, Belmont." I tried some basic tricks on the image, but there was nothing hidden that I could find. I took this communication to mean that he was pleased at the form that I sent the original email in, and that he was looking for people to take on roles in the game, but little else.

A few days later I wrote back to him, subject line was "offer", with the following image: http://www.adamhunter.net/hatshoe_offer.pdf This image is a fake job offer for Setec Astronomy, which those of you as film buffs will recognize from Sneakers. I encoded in the message the word "fezzik", indicating my forum name in case he reads the forum. I also made it clear that I considered our communication secret.

He wrote back, in text this time, saying "I am very interested in your offer, but there are still too many secrets about it." So obviously he got the 'joke', but decided there was nothing more to add. I think he didn't like that it wasn't handwritten, plus maybe he was indicating that I shouldn't be so obtuse.

So next time I dumbed it down a bit, and sent him this: http://www.adamhunter.net/todo.pdf Subject line was "todo" with text of "so busy!". The text has the obvious encoded phrase "how many are you". I was trying to indicate that I was sorry that it was taking me so long to get back to him (I really have been busy), and also I was curious if he was schizo or if there were more than one character.

This time I didn't hear from him for a while, and I got nervous so I sent him just a plain text message, title "my deepest apologies", and the text was

Real life has interfered. But I am refocusing. I apologize for insulting you with this
ignominious form of communication.

This time I heard almost immediately, in response to this email (not the other one), with the following message: . Obviously encoded there is the message "one now more later". The plaintext is "my most honest response would be not likely one of wise statements maybe upon consideration we could let our actions dictate how we are to be perceived." This meant several things to me: one, he's happy that we're moving on as a group, two, he's disappointed i wasn't the one to get the clue and he wants me to work harder, and three, that it's only him. The "more later" is ominous: is he recruiting? bifurcating? who knows.

This morning I wrote back with the following: subject "only trying to help", file http://www.adamhunter.net/errors.jpg Encoded in this message is the text "where is the rest of pill", referring to Sleeping Pill, which I think is the key to moving forward. The plaintext is just some notes about errors in his pages, just to let him know I'm paying attention.

A few other notes: he didn't acknowledge the "fezzik" thing, so either he didn't figure it out, doesn't care, or doesn't read the forums. Also, obviously in the ACheerfulOccasion image, he's written in pencil and then overlaid pen. I think he's just being cute but maybe one clue is that he's reinforcing the idea that different ink types (blue, black, pencil) indicate something meaningful, either different sides of his personality or different angles on the story.

I can't find any other numbers, but I am on a crappy monitor at work. I feel like there is def. something going on with the titles. Some have the tops of the 'h' and 't' very very extended. There is one where the 't' is obviously flipped upside down as well.

OK, so I asked our friend why he thought I was closest and he said:

If you read the letters that are lined up down the centre of the image they spell that phrase.

Yeah, don't worry, he'll reply soon enough if you mail him enough. Like I said, be polite and don't ask too many questions, that's been my mode of contact so far. If you ask him too many questions he'll usually only nswwer one or just reply with an unrelated message. Here's to hoping you can get something out of him!

with some terrible pseudo-poetry slapped in, kinda like my first post on this thread
