well it's definitely interesting how the receptionists at TT seem to continue there fabulous job of not knowing anything about their own company. and obviously, once upon a time a Mr. Richard Meyer had to have worked there... people don't send memo's to people outside the company. That's why it's called a memo. Fairly interesting. hmm..So I'd say we should definitely keep tabs on them... see if they change their studdering tune at all.

Hmm...i was thinking about posing as a serious contact, almost trying to be out-game but not altoghter, like som sort of journalist or something like that. Like a character who isn't a player but have heard it anyway, to see if they (receptionists) really don't know anything, if they are, what that is and why they are hiding it...
Thoughts?

I think that'd ruin the spirit of it all, Buff. You know, curtain issues. I would suggest against it.

just tried to ask for Joseph Silver again today. The receptonist is getting better at fielding our calls. she put me on hold for a sec then said he was unavailable and took my number. ill let you know if i get a call from him, but i doubt it.
ive been thinking about the TT number a lot. it seems that they WANT us to call for some reason, as opposed to some spec that they are sick of us calling.
the number is EVERYWHERE on the UH site and the TT site. and why do they have a live receptionist? wouldnt a voicemail be easier? if we cant get any info anyway, why not do it that way?
i think maybe we are supposed to use that number in the game. maybe our password we get from the memo is a voicemail password for silver or another employee.
i remember listening in on peoples voicemails in Majestic. but i believe the TT phone number is IMPORTANT.

Remember, the TT number is what was posted in the ads on the various casting sites. Most likely, it's an answering service most of the time.
Cooler than VM.

It's also possible that the phone number and the receptionist was provided to create a deeper immersion.

The phone number may be important and we may want to try some voicemails, but I don't think repeatedly questioning the receptionists will do any good. I really don't think the PMs would make it this hard for us to get ahold of anyone and tell us that the receptionists were told to not let any calls through to the higher ups, if they meant for us to somehow trick the receptionists into letting us talk to someone.
We've called and got no info. Now we've been told that even if we do call, the receptionists won't forward our calls to the higher ups. I think it's clear that, for now, we're not going to get to talk to anyone.
Now you're right that it might mean that we are supposed to use the voicemail, so if anyone calls I'd say focus on that.
The PMs of this game have been pretty clear as to how they will handle us not moving along on a puzzle as they would like. The other night when we were trying to solve the puzzle from jc, he sent us emails with hints to move us along. More recently, when we haven't been able to solve the memo puzzle, we received hints that the company often hides passwords in their memos. They've clearly shown that they know what they are doing and will show us the way if we are lost.

yes i agree varin that hassling the receptionists won't bear us any fruit at all.
i also think you may very well be right that the receptionists are there to add a layer of immersion.
but they DID put the phone number all over the place so that it would be a part of the game. so far, though, it hasnt been used in the game per se at all.
it is also true that the PMs are going to nudge us, but it was precisely that nudging (towards the TT memo) that got me thinking about how we could use a password once we find it.
i just couldnt help but think back to similar problems in majestic, where we solved puzzles, came up with numbers, and had to figure out that they were pins for a voicemail we got earlier in the game.
back to the drawing board i guess.

Also, this "game" was opened by Press Releases to real Reality TV casting sites. They expected people to be applying for this reality tv show - and not ARG players. Now, besides myself, who else playing this game is/was initially drawn into it because he/she thought it was a reality tvshow. How many people out there still think it is nothing but a reality tv show and they are sitting by their phones or mail box, waiting to hear if they are being casted in this tv show????? And then will be calling TT asking to speak to the casting director about their application?

Yeah, I agree that if there's anything else to be done right now with the phone number it would be to use a password on one of the mailboxes.

Hi, sorry about the anonymous post but I can't get my account to activate.
Called TT(8/26) and ended up asking to talk to Lisa Roman(should have asked for Sandra, but was shocked by them picking up, even after reading the thread.) Told them my name and said that I was from "Rain City Productions" and that were going to be shooting a documentary on old hospitals with portable lighting rigs and cameras. Since my "boss" recalled web chatter about Dread House, we were wondering about some of their field crew's equipment set up and were hoping for some specs or to simply talk with some of the crew.
When I mentioned Dread House she stopped and asked me to repeat myself, like the phones were bad(possible) or like she was shocked. Either way she took down my contact info and bid me good day, saying that she would pass the message on. Since I'm normally a lurker AND I'm a n00b, this whole exchange blew my mind. Wow! And I understand that at this point asking TT about this kind of stuff is a little silly, but I was just curious and wanted to see if I could get a response, so beat me if you must-but please don't!

nice goin' You called from Sweden!? That's great. Why would we beat you? Your call seems quite valid and imaginative.

Well not Sweden...more like Seattle. "Rain City" and all that. In an interesting twist that we all know is their standard response I received no return phone call, but I did get an email (in response to the same cover story being used in emails to lisa and sandra) from Sandra Brown informing me tersely that dread house never existed more than an urban myth used by the competition to hurt upcoming shows. I'll carry this over to a different thread if it's deemed appropriate. Oh, and since I'm used to video game chat threads, I'm not used to the civility and tone that gets around the ARG boards-thus my fear of beatings
Citizen56, who wonders if "dumb newbie" isn't still appropriate as a name...

I just called TT Posing as myself, as a University Student doing a research project on Reality TV.
A British-Sounding male answered, and put me on hold.
A man with a New York accent then picked up, and transferred me to the voicemail of the DCC, stating that I probably fell under the category of "media inquiries".
I left a message...
Maybe I'll get a call back.
