They are probably from FMV (or game engine) cut-scenes in Halo-2.

To the thought that Bungie is making a DVD:

At Microsoft, the company's Xbox game division is planning a marketing juggernaut modeled after a "Star Wars" movie release for its "Halo 2" game. Selling the $54 CD is just the start. There is also a $5.99 monthly fee to play in "Halo 2" tournaments online; action figures for $14.99; a DVD with movie ads and a guide to playing the game for $19.99; and three novels based on the game. A soundtrack CD is due in November.

All of this, including the tournament fee, has not been commented on
by Bungie/Microsoft.

The DVD will have movie ads on it (like all DVDs) but what will the content
be? Halo: The Covenant Wars?

If you go to any website that is selling the game (amazon for example) you will find that it is said exactly what will be in the limited edition/DVD combo:
Quote:
This limited edition of Halo 2 includes the game, a DVD of behind-the-scenes video of the game's production, galleries of art representing the game from concept to finished work, commentaries from the production team, and cut-scenes and trailers from the two games all in a collectable metal box.

I'm not entirely sure that's the DVD you were talking about, but it's pretty likely.

Yes, most likely it will be the limited edition Halo2 DVD, and yes, I already
have mine pre-ordered.
I was just pointing that out as an argument against Bubba's spec
that these .wav files are taken from an existing work or works.
If they were not made exclusively for this ARG then the only other option
would be a Bungie creation that we have not seen or heard of.

I feel this is mostly original. The voice acting I say is original. The background sounds... possible not. If you ever get some sound editing tools, they come with default backgrounds that sound pretty good. I haven't gotten any myself, but my friends who are into that stuff have, and we have some fun recording fake skits and stuff. Some sample backgrounds that I remember are like: high trafic area, in a car, emergency alarms, war sounds, bar sounds, and so on. Pretty easy to come up with those background sounds.

Either way, I feel that who ever is doing this, is being original, and making their own stuff. I also feel that they clips were ment for audio only.

Well, it wouldn't be at all that difficult to plan ahead and re-edit a visual scene
to fit an audio format.
Ever hear an ad on the radio for a movie? They don't even plan ahead but
they pull it off adequately.

Unfortunately, I think you're right.

either way, I promote the idea of looking into all possibilities.
