The Slender Man would make a pretty great aspect of Nyarlathotep. And he -is- pretty Lovecraftian...

Good lord, I believe you're right. Reading the wiki about him, it seems he is rather like him.

The great manipulator... He's got a reason for driving people mad. After all, -that- seems to be the goal of nearly everything he does... Even when he kills children. Imagine a mother hearing her child was found with his organs removed, impaled on a tree?

I also noticed the Lovecraftian overtones of the whole thing-- and immediately jumped to a comparison with Nyarlarthotep [sic?] based on the mainly manshaped body, tentacles, and general attitude towards life.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! Twisted Evil

Why I didn't think of it before I don't know. I love Lovecraft. Thank you for pointing it out though.

I reckon Slendy is a Tulpa, which is a mythical being that only exists because people believe he exists. Like a fairy, only badass. I remember seeing a picture of SM with 'Tulpa' next to him. If I find it I'll post it.

An idea popped in my head a while ago about Slendy, and I think I kinda mentioned it a while ago. Excuse me if this is the wrong place for it, but...

How on Earth could someone kill, or even fend off Slenderman? What would even hurt him? Would a bullet or a good whack do it? What about a car hitting him at 75 mph? Could something small even hurt him? Would a nuclear detonation do anything?

If JAFOOL's Slendy is the same/has the same powers as MH's Slendy, then he is possibly unaffected by bullet fire. He took down a squad of soldiers, after all. (Is that the right ARG, JAFOOL?)

How do you guys imagine him doing down, if he can at all? I personally see Slendy as nigh immortal. Sword, bullet, baseball bat, car, rocket, or fire...I don't think it would bring down Slender man. The most I see happening to him is being stunned for a bit, or being caught off guard. Then he'd just get back up and him being very angry.

I'm not sure, if push came to shove in MH, that I'd want our Slendy to fall. I'd rather see him slaughter J, Alex, Brian, Tim, Sarah, TTA, EFG (if not already one of previous people), and the rest of the town, then give the camera a smile and walk off triumphantly.

Slenderman strikes me as being some kind of supernatural/extra-dimensional entity who just takes on a human likeness and appears in our world to do, well... whatever it is he likes to do here, exactly. I don't think he plays by the same rules we do, so I doubt that he can be hurt or killed, at least not in the same ways that we can. Frankly, I think it would be pretty lame if you could take him down with something mundane like a gun or a bomb. Makes him a lot less intimidating.

personally, i imagined him as being more...
evasive or deceptive than plain out extra-planar, useing mind tricks or just ambushing people intead of walking through grenade explosions and five rounds rapid...

i mean, in JAF's case, i imagine he coulda been hiding in the tree..

For some reason, I imagine him dashing out and throwing people around like dolls. Any explosions and bullets not even putting a dent in his suit.

I agree, Sachael, he has to be some sort of entity where this form either isn't his "true" form, or it is impervious to physical harm. Or maybe it's just the suit? Maybe the suit is magical. (joking, obviously)

I love the thought of Slendy facing some army soldiers. So many ways it could go.

Don't know if it would do much but you could always kick him in the nards.

Heh, the same idea crossed my mind earlier in the thread. But I like the idea of him being a bit more neutral than Nyarlathotep, so...I won't believe it 'till I see it.

Dude, fairies are just about the most badass creatures ever in mythology. They lived to go to war and fuck with humans just because they felt like it. They were pretty much the cold-hearted sadists of legend, which counts them above pretty much any other creature I can think of.

I kind of like the idea of him being a Tulpa, but I like better the idea that he's existed for centuries, and for one reason or another, we simply don't remember.
