Hidden newspaper article provides date

In the new files we got, the sr newsclipping has faded reversed text - has if it had worn of from the opposing page (PatamonKid pointed this out to me)

So... color replaced to get rid of the main text, fiddled til i could see the text

(Pk also pointed out it was merely typed backwards, not actually mirror imaged )

So i read backwards - couldn't make all of it out, but turns out it doesn't matter

the top of the first line says "held at a nine-story prison in Brooklyn, N.Y." and a couple lines below says "'Are you OK'"

so I googled those lines and got

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/06/03/attack/main556665.shtml

nice established news article with a date on it

which indicates

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Steve Rowan may have been killed on June 2, 2003, since the article was dated June 3, 2003.

I'm gonna go ponder whether that makes sense, but tis a date.

The other article has something about a gem show and a date of

my fiddled with article is below, in case u wanna looksee yerselves
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Sunday Aug. 2, 2003, which I think someone found a few hours ago

Another thing that I just saw after adjusting the images myself. You are able to see an address on the left hand side of the Accident news clipping.

it is

580731, Minneapolis, MN

If you do a search for that you come up with www.north-trek.com which is a promotional site for the Cambridge Antique Fair.

all out of game I am sure, however, what I found interesting was this on the website.

The Isanti County Fairgrounds is located in Cambridge, Minnesota, about 40 miles north of the Twin Cities metro area, one mile east of Highway 65 on Highway 95. It is also about 12 miles west of the Tanger Outlet Mall at I-35 and Highway 95. Show hours are 8am to 5pm each day.

So, my Spec is this, so we already know that this accident takes place in Isanti county. So if we want an exact date, besides the Aug 2 & 3 that is reverse (as it might be a date for an upcoming or past event) we could email the people at north-trek and find out when the antique fair was held last year.

Actually, I just looked at some more of the text from
http://www.north-trek.com/cambridge/press2.htm
and it is the same as the text covering the left hand side of the article.

specifically saw
"The food available is among the best to be found"
"collectibles and several drawings throughout both days for special prizes"

So, make of this what you will, but it was placed in there for some reason.

i found the article for this year's fair online (thought i'd added this earlier, but apparently i imagined it)
did the search not on the address, hadn't thought it would get me a full address :/ but i did search on some of the phrases i found and got this :

http://www.isanticountynews.com/2004/July/28antiquefair.html

exact wording except for dates and "13th annual" changed to "12th annual"

the article this year appeared on 7/28 for a fair on 8/8-9

so if last year it was 8/1-2 the article should have been posted about... 7/23

tough to get an exact date with out contacting the fair ppl and asking them when they put the article up, but i'll say the accident happened roughly 7/22/03.
