Flood-like

I searched around and couldn't really find this discussed specifically anywhere, so it might be trout, but here goes anyway:

The way Melissa spits out these random memories in the different pages of the website is awfully reminiscent to me of how memories are flashed through Capt. Keyes' head when he is invaded by a Flood infection form in Halo: The Flood. He is conscious, but sort of unconscious, and the Flood form searches his brain and pulls up his memories, sort of one at a time, scanning through them, and he re-experiences each moment of life back on earth that the Flood pulls out and plays across his mind, all the while fighting it from finding the coordinates for Earth. Being infected, Keyes cannot control his body - he's paralyzed - yet the Flood organism can, so Keyes can still move. Also, when the Flood take over your body, it reorganizes your physical makeup. On page 223 of Halo: The Flood it mentions, upon Master Chief examining an ex-Elite Flood combat form, that, "It was as if something had rewritten the Elite, reshaped it from the inside out."

Now compare this to some of what's been found on the pages:

Quote:
MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY
black beach, nothing but sand and darkness. Sometimes, in the distance, dry lightning: in the flash I see pieces of the wreck around me, the spars and rigging of my brain

-hold on. hold on. Steady up. Get a grip, girl. You have to fight through this.

Take a deep breath.

Survival Key #3: How Badly Are You Hurt?

Mentally, subject is confused and disoriented.

I keep slipping in and out of consciousness.

Physically, subject is paralyzed but moving.

Okay.

What the hell does THAT mean?

Held down: yes. As if strapped to a table. Could I be in traction in some sick bay, some hospital ward?

Not necessarily one of ours.

But at the same time, parts of me being moved around, emptied out. As if under general anaesthetic, dimly conscious, half-aware as the surgeon cuts off my feet and sews them onto my shoulders. She opens my head with a medical hammer and sand spills out.

I WANT TO DIE I WANT TO-

-no.

never that.

survive evade reveal escape. That is all you know, or need to know.

Did you notice the connections? Primarily, the moving of the body parts, the semi-consciousness, the paralysis with movement, the opening of the head (as in examining the brain), and there are a few other similarities to Keyes' infection if you're familiar with the book.

Also, Pvt. Jenkins remains fairly conscious while he's infected in the novel as well, and all he can think about, for the most part, is how he wants to die.

...that would make the Flea a Flood AI?

Do the Flood have AI techs?

Yeah, I have no idea about there being Flood AI or anything (and I think a Flood-type AI has been discussed by others), but the similarities were just too great for me to ignore. The way the Flea acts, through simple command prompts, leads me to believe it is primitive enough in its process to be a Flood AI (if such is possible).
