J went back to the house expecting to find his anonymous YouTube adversary "totheark". If I were J, I would greet anyone I met in that house as "totheark"...unless I knew them personally.

Now when J sees Masky, he immediately identifies him as Alex - actually, he says it twice. We may not be able to tell the difference between Alex and the cameraman, but J knows what his friend looks like.

The simplest explanation for Entry 18 is that Masky=Alex (as identified by J), and that totheark=Masky (as promised in Signal). It may be more complicated than that, but we don't have any evidence for that complexity yet.

Ok, first. It has been three years since J has seen his friend. Contrary to what people believe, things CAN change in three years. Second, if it were me, looking for my friend Alex to whom all of this has happened to, I would be asking if it was Alex myself. I'm sure a lot of you will agree with me on this.

Just so I don't lose my job as resident idiot/comedian/whatever I am, I'd like to share a small thought: do you think Slender Man has a car? I reckon he has a Mini Cooper. Could you imagine one of the creepiest beings of all time driving in a car which is 3 times smaller than him?

That just made me think of the Simpsons episode where Nelson laughs at that really tall guy in a small car.

I do not believe that J went back into the house looking for Alex; rather, he was seeking out totheark after totheark's insistence that they should meet. He has been obsessing over Alex, but this specific visit was all about meeting the menace who's been making him sick.

The tone he takes right before Masky rushes him is one of recognition - something like "Alex, is it really you? I've been so worried." This is a very different tone than the "Alex, where are you?" tone we heard in Entry 16.

Plus, remember what J saw. He didn't see some college kid with a camera. He saw a crazy person wearing a mask and an outfit that looks inspired by Slenderman, sitting on the couch staring at him like he's totally lost it. If I were J, I'd assume it was totheark. However, there was enough recognition there that J realized he was staring at his former friend.

J should still be able to recognize the general shape of his friend, and we have no IG reason to believe that form has changed. (Don't forget that he hasn't changed OOG, since the "2009" entries are filmed at the same time as the "2006" entries).

marblehornets (J) (Ce Gars) probably asked him to cease and desist for fear of messing up the story. Which makes it fairly obvious that it wasn't IG to begin with (otherwise marblehornets would have pointed us to him)

Yeah, he probably was forced off by Twitter because the people doing MH said he was being an impostor that could endanger their work or whatever.

I must applaud you for explaining your reasonings. Not many people do that much anymore. Also, you have given me something to think about and review. Something that I can use my time on, seeing as I have too much of it. lol.

EDIT: Alright. I did take a look at 18, and from what I heard, I didn't seem to hear any recognition in his voice. what I heard was a tinge of surprise at first, then he sounded like he was trying to evoke a response from Mask, that is to say that he was trying to see if it was indeed his friend Alex.

This is very interesting, but I don't think J was trying to seem like he recognized anything about masky. Someone could message him and ask him if he recognized the masked man as Alex, but I don't know how far we'd get with that.

J's tone on the first "Alex?" is quite interesting. Personally, I think he was just calling out "Alex" as he always does. It seems to be more of a habit than anything, just in the hope that he may find Alex somewhere along the way. Still, there was something odd about his voice the first time, and I can't quite make out what it is. Like severe shock or apprehension. I just like to chalk it up to really good acting, rather than supposed recognition.

If Alex is TTA, they had best have a very good explanation as to how he sprinted like a track runner over to where J was in 13 after being chased by the Slender Man. I admit, after thinking about it, it would be quite an interesting ending to the series, but there is simply more information pointing to the Unnamed Camera Dude than there is to Alex, so I find it very hard to join the Alex=TTA camp.

Also, you guys really need to chill out. This is certainly not the first time you've been without TTA videos. Anyway, just because one character is out of the game, at least for now, doesn't mean that J won't continue. There are plenty of other leads he can take. He can get more MH footage, he can contact Tim again, he can return to the house to find out what happened. These guys are resourceful; I think we've seen that so far. It's not the endgame yet. Just because there's been a change in the expected routine does not indicate the end of the world, Marble Hornets-related or not.

Wow, two intelligent and thoughtful posts in one night? We're on a roll. I agree, I think the fact that TTA is out for now will just make the next entry more interesting. I'm excited to see what they can think of next to keep us confused.

Also, who is this Unnamed Camera Dude? Is it the camera man from Entry #12? Because I thought Alex was behind the camera in that one.

Entry 9, actually. He argues with Alex about how he forgot that he was supposed to keep the camera rolling. At 2:23 (in Regards, the reply to Entry 9, the slashes flash twice, twice again, then three times, hence 2:23) he turns his face toward the camera, which I take as a clue that he was sending the messages as TTA. That and the fact that TTA repeatedly mentions an Operator, when that guy was, well, the camera operator.

He may or may not have been in Entry 12. That's been debated, but no conclusion was reached. It's very possible, considering Alex seems to step in front of the camera at the end, suggesting that there might have been someone else controlling the thing.
