Thanks for the tip, Dav. My guess then is that I live closest to the PM and that the other people who called will get their letters tomorrow or the day after if they were all posted on the same day.

oh jeez. Game's up, gotta confess. I am J. I have been here, keeping an eye on how people took Marble Hornets and Just Another Fool. Wanna know how we made Slender Man?

I bow to you, O' J, god of all that is unholy. How unworthy are we forumites to witness the greatness of your videos. I stand humbly in your virtual presence.

Dav, what are you talking about? This is the real J. He did answer the supersecret question that proved him to be, without a doubt. Your skepticism is null and void. Wink

Ok if your J tell us something only J would know, like when will the next entry be up give us a date so we dont have to wait for you to upload it.

or if you cant do that tell us why you picked slenderman, or whatever creature it is.

Ok, well, what I can tell you is that Totheark will not be posting for some time. As to why I picked Slenderman, I thought he was actually a very creepy being, and me and a bunch of my friends thought it would be cool to make videos like this. ANy other questions? I can't tell you when the next entry is coming out. That is private.

ok i can understand that your privacy is important, and on the SM note god your a freaking genius I'm glad you like many others see him as a truly enigmatic and creepy creature. So one more thing i'd like to ask is will we get to see Slenderman soon and more often?

Well, what I can tell you is that SM MIGHT make another appearance. Wink Wink Wink

**OOG*** I have to give it to them. Having the confidence in your players to post all of the physical letters they receive. Pretty awesome of them. **END OOG**

So now, let's get to the important part where MsHeadwound posts the video of the opening so we can pick it apart like vultures. I might be jumping the gun here, but do you think the "HE" at the beginning might have some significance?

Interesting, too, how ambiguous the message is. Maybe Slender Man's more of a puppet master than we originally thought?

I must agree. Sometimes, it's just too much fun to resist.

Okay, so I must ask, why are videos so important in showcasing the material? I mean, wouldn't, say, photographing and/or scanning in images work just as well, or maybe even better due to higher resolutions?

It just seems odd how necessary you guys treat videos specifically to be.

So, I got a letter today in the mail...

Got my letter today. Mine was postmarked Cincinnati, OH. It was stamped November 16th as the date it was canceled.

There was no return address, and the envelope was clean and crisp - an amazing feat for the postal service, I assure you.

Inside there was a single small sheet of lined paper, the kind you find in those pocket-sized Moleskine notebooks. There was a roman numeral in the top corner (II) and the word YOU in giant letters across the center. to the right of that it says "will" and then below that on a 45 degree angle "live" which is underlined, and the l and underline almost form a check mark.

Across the bottom it says:

a brief but far more wondrous life than the billions of other "people" on this planet.

So the total message is "You will live a brief but far more wondrous life than the billions of other 'people' on this planet"

I guess the list of initials determines which page number you get, since I was second on the list and got II.

I'll attach images of the envelope and page to this post before I post it.

Has anyone else received a letter yet besides the two of us that posted? Or does anyone know who any of the other initials on the list are? This way we can get in touch with some of them and find out if they got anything yet, in case they're not looking for it or too busy to post.

My first real ARG (I'm not sure I could MH quite yet) and I already got some swag! Awesome! =P

Edit: I can see scratches in the page. Since mine is labeled II, and assuming they wrote them in order, the only thing this could be is the letter labeled I.

I can't make out much of it but I see the same giant YOU, and under that it looks like the word special and its underlined. My letters go over it but it almost looks like "are far more SPECIAL" or "before ... special"

Nothing terribly important as we'll probably find out what it says when someone gets Letter I but I figured I'd mention it for the sake of being thorough about my findings.

Thanks for posting your letter! Very Happy

I'm keeping a list of everything I've seen here. I believe it's set to automatically update when I make changes. I have some guesses as to which person each set of initials belongs, but I might be wrong on at least one of them, if not more.

Also, with your impressions and mine, we have a little bit of an idea what letters I and III say now, I think, although not enough to reconstruct them wholesale if someone doesn't come forward with pictures or information.

edit Just checked my twitter and Dav says he received a letter! So that would be DF.

if we do, we'll be able to tell if each card is linked, or is exclusive..

i guess exclusive would be better if we missed one

With the Yggdrasil references, the trees, and the possible missing eye, I suppose I ought to link the wikipedia entry on the number nine in Norse myth. Nine worlds connected by Yggdrasil, and nine beings that survive Ragnarok might be relevant.
