Superb!
Although, wasn't there a scene in the previews and trailers and commercials which did not appear in the actual movie? Maybe it'll be on the DVD director's cut extended version.

There were many scenes from the trailer not in the film (The interrogation scenes, seem the most prominent.)
As for jarsp's concern:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The RPG catch is in the film.
Anyway, yeah. Very strong film. More gory than I expected though. Shame the ARG was so minor, but the film's budget was reported to be low so I suppose it's not a huge surprise.

Excellent film. Needs to be promoted for Oscar!
Amazing CGI work. Great attention to details. Completely enthralling.
Highly recommend. Yes, much better than Cloverfield.
Makes a great political/humanitarian statements. The shark & I were talking about it for hours afterwards.

Just a note, but actually it was available quite a while ago, in the downloads section of district9movie.com if I'm not wrong. (That's how I made my avatar anyway lol)

pretty sure this game is still ongoing guys
several unanswered questions at the end of the movie.
eg: what happened to the sensitive files taken from MNU's database?

3rd weekend boxoffice D-9 beats Cloverfield The weekend isn't quite over yet, but Box Office Mojo is already reporting that District-9 has taken in at least $10,700,000 this weekend, beating Cloverfield's 3rd weekend take of only $4,842,031. I am ever so pleased!
Yahoo! puts District-9 in 4th place this week (down from last week's 2nd place), with a cumulative box office take of over $90 million! Not bad for a low-budget sci-fi independent movie, not bad at all.
And just because this is such a good movie, I went and saw it a second time.

Time Magazine's Lev Grossman asked director Neill Blomkamp:
Quote:
Inevitable question: Are you thinking about a sequel?
Well, it's kind of weird. I've only been exposed to this new world of people looking at the film for about two weeks. For the last two years, it's just me and the movie, and now a lot of people have seen it, and the question of sequel has come up. And it literally didn't dawn on me until the last week of filming about the idea of a sequel.
Now that I've starting thinking about it, if the audience likes it and the film is successful, I would love to make another movie. It's such a gratifying type of movie for me to make, it's got all the elements that I love, and it's got all the science fiction I love. I'd go back. But only if its successful -- only if people want it back.

On the misleading marketing of the film:
Neill Blomkamp had nothing to do with District 9's marketing plan. The now very familiar signs for "For Humans Only" do not appear anywhere in the film. What can be seen are signs banning "Non-Human Loitering". A small but interesting distinction considering that propaganda is Sony's doing and was intentionally left out of the film.
Also the most memorable moment of the first two trailers does not appear anywhere in the film. There is no sequence in which a government official interrogates a scared Prawn and there is never, ever any implication in the film that humans are preventing the Prawns from returning to their home world. The footage (seen here) of the captured Prawn pleading, "How can we leave if you have our ship?" was invented by Sony solely for promotion.

After watching the movie. I am still don't know whether to believe it. How did the aliens make their way into earth without anyone knowing?
