[INFO] Trigeminal Decided to look up trigeminal on dictionary.com , since I didn't know what it meant, and got the really helpful definition:
Quote:
Of or relating to the trigeminal nerves; trifacial.
So I went to a medical dictionary and got this :
Quote:
Main Entry: trigeminal nerve
Function: noun
: either of the fifth pair of cranial nerves that are mixed nerves and in humans are the largest of the cranial nerves and that arise by a small motor root and a larger sensory root which both emerge from the side of the pons with the sensory root bearing the trigeminal ganglion and dividing into ophthalmic, maxillary, and mandibular nerves and the motor root supplying fibers to the mandibular nerve and through this to the muscles of mastication called also fifth cranial nerve, trifacial nerve, trigeminus
Sadly, that still doesn't make things much clearer - but the connection between Axons and Nerves made me think this might be useful. If anyone has some medical background, amybe they could furnish the forums with a layman's explanation?
Note to the operators, you MAY want to start a new thread, separate out the Hive-Ku Discussion & Coordination into 2 threads, or this one is just gonna get unwieldy really fast. If you do this - please move this post into the discussion thread. Thanks

Hmm... that's something to definatly look into.. but I'm not a bio-major so I'm a little in the dark about the anatomy references

Oh yeh, it could get quite ugly if there aren't two seperate threads

Since Red_Blue deals with nerves, I'm going to guess that trigeminal does also.
I'm also going to speculate that Kamahl is explaining how CP is integrated into the brain.

Eyes and Mouth. Eye motion/blinking, Lips/tongue/mouth nerves.
Perhaps referring to Seeing Dana and Speaking to us.
/me wonders if any of the locations had nearby traffic cameras to capture the groups at the axons.
Nifty side effect of the puzzle, people got out of the house away from the TV/computer and saw/spoke to other people.

perhaps that's Bungie's TRUE purpose behind all this:

I'm betting they are trying to get us to make friends because it will make us want to play together on Xbox Live.
I don't know if you have read up on Halo2 on Live, but it's going to be cool.
Clans, IM's using MSN messenger, linking usernames and getting stats!
Fun stuff!

re: Trigeminal As I reported here:

I activated the 11:29 trigeminal axon today.
The part of the sound clip that jumped out to me of course (I study neuroscience), was at the end, when one of the kids shouts quickly: "Olfactory, Optic, Oculomotor...!" These are the first thee cranial nerves (of which trigeminal is number 5), and there are plenty of good sites if you just Google 'cranial nerves'.
Since the trigeminal controls the muscles of chewing and the sense of touch on the face and mouth, someone brought up "Eyes and Mouth. Eye motion/blinking, Lips/tongue/mouth nerves". I can't spec much about what this means; I'm still catching up on all that stuff. But let me know if you want to bounce any ideas about the anatomy or function of the brain or cranial nerves.

Some more general info about cranial nerves and the trigeminal nerve:
The cranial nerves are 12 pairs of nerves that originate from the brain, similar to the nerves that exit the spinal cord as you make your way down. The CNs control everything from tongue movements to eye movements to your senses of taste, hearing, balance (vestibular), smell, and touch (at least for the head and neck). Because their anatomy and functions are so well-known, the are one of the first things a doctor will test if you present with neurological symptoms (see http://www.neuroexam.com/ ). Some might remember an ER episode where Dr. Green was diagnosed with a brainstem tumor just because he couldn't stick his tongue out straight! The Trigeminal Nerve (CN V (5)) is the largest and most complex of the CNs. It has three branches (hence the name), and carries both sensory and motor information.
Lots more detail awaits those who are interested, but I wouldn't get too carried away looking for details or puzzles here. I think the significance is not the trigeminal itself, but the CNs in general, since the character in the clip was trying to list them in order, starting with I (olfactory). Spec away about how this relates to the chatternet, Melissa, or any other characters.

for what it's worth, I believe that the trigeminal nerve is also responsible for 'brain freeze' when you eat ice cream too fast

Wild speck since its so early and I haven't heared the clip. It occours to me speaking over the chatter net into an ear piece would be a great way to cheat on a test.

Kamal, being a medical geek like crfets, probably studied the nerves early in his career.
I remember there's an anagram for remembering all the nerve systems in the human body, that starts off "Oh Oh Oh". It's naughty .
I don't know why he'd be shouting them during a police raid, unless it's a code phrase. To his friend on the chatternet?

Trigeminal can also mean, when reading an EKG Trigeminy is having three regular heart beats complete with P waves and a QRS complex, before having what is called a PVC, or a premature ventricular contraction. What it generally looks like is three normal blips on the heart monitor, than a sudden irregular blip nearly immediately afterwards a bit off kilter from the rest, being a bio major and primarily a med student this might be what he is explaining. If he is using it in the context of soundwaves he might be speaking of soundwaves looking like a Trigeminal heart rhythm, which could be an accurate analogy.
