Well, in the SM mythos, people to tend to become rather obsessed with him, in that "unable to look away" sort of way.

And I think when J started watching the tapes and saw SM for the first time, he became curious. I think every video he watched made it harder for him to turn away from the whole thing.

in all honesty, if my friend up and left for 3 years, and i didn't hear from him the whole time, i'd be a bit curious as to why.

finding tapes like these would only make me further wonder. and look for answers. i'd have to disagree that he has no reason to be a bit curious despite all the shortcomings.

answers always lie somewhere in the end?

I'd guess you can be productive for a few hours. He said tomorrow, so that either literally means tomorrow morning, as in, after 12:00 AM, or perhaps "tomorrow" meaning Thursday morning.
