This might be useful for those interviewing Miles Judd. I actually managed to win it this time without buying out.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

[Mr Judd is very pleased to see you and shakes your hand vigorously as you enter the interview room at the police station. He expresses his joy at finally getting a worthy opponent.]

J.W - Hello, Mr.Judd

M.J - My dear Doctor Watson. You don't know what a pleasure it is to see you.

J.W - Yes, well... why did you kill those two girls Mr. Judd?

M.J - Have you never wanted to be extraordinary, Dr Watson? In this city of four million souls it takes a lot to rise to the surface, but you can't deny that everyone is talking about me now.

J.W - So why the interest in Egyptology?

M.J - The course of action was suggested by Jenny's letter to the Modern Egyptologist, which I subscribe to.

J.W - You have quite an interest in Egyptology then. So you would be able to explain the scarab and eye on Jenny's palms?

M.J - I was thrilled to think I was going to be talking to someone much sharper than the police. Now I'm not so sure.

J.W - Could you explain what you placed above Jenny's head?

M.J - I'm not going to answer that. Ask me about the murders.

J.W - Why Jenny and Agatha then, Mr. Judd?

M.J - I was thrilled to think I was going to be talking to someone much sharper than the police. Now I'm not so sure.

J.W - Why do you want to be so extraordinary?

M.J - It seems that without Mr Holmes you are just floundering about. Perhaps you should be asking him about his investigations more closely. You mean apart for my arrest for the ritual murders of two girls?

J.W - Ahhh... yes. The markings around the Jenny's body... what do they mean, Mr.Judd?

M.J - Aha you are trying to test me. The symbols were on the ground. At least that's what I remember.

J.W - What was the significance of that salt marking?

M.J - The three symbols that surround the pentagram mean 'moon' by Jenny's feet, and 'woman' and 'judgement' either side of her head. Then there's the double circles for protection.

J.W - What about the circle above Jenny's head? What was there?

[SUCCESS!] You try to test me Dr Watson, there was no circle by Jenny's head as we both know. [YOU HAVE HIM NOW AND CAN MAKE HIM CONFESS]

J.W - We found a white circle above Jenny's head.Did you honestly kill those girls Mr.Judd?

M.J - There wasn't a circle by Jenny's head, Dr Watson.

J.W - I don't believe you had anything to do with these murders, Mr.Judd.

[WIN!] Well, perhaps I'm not the killer in base and objective reality, but you must understand Dr Watson that I am guilty of thinking base and terrible thoughts, and should probably be locked up for my own good. If not for this then for bribing a corrupt policeman to give me access to the police reports. Please? [YOU HAVE NOW ASKED BOTH KEY QUESTIONS. EITHER CARRY ON TALKING OR LEAVE THE INTERVIEW - CLICK CLOSE OR HOME..]

I've managed to get back to where I was before the 'incident'. My reputation though, I'm going to have to grind all of it back.

Summary

I actually got this one first time around! Very pleased! I made my deductions on 3 main premises. Warning MASSIVE SPOILERS, only read if you finished this week:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
- Once you find out it wasn't Judd, you can count him out easily. The questioning was a bit fiddly, just establish first he knows nothing about the circle above the head or symbols on her hands, then just call him a liar until he cracks.
- Check BOTH sides of Watson/Holmes until you get all the evidence pieces. The note from Goldsworthy to his partner doesn't match the one he 'gave Shurston'. Hmmm.
- This one is tenuous, but if Goldsworthy supplied rubber seals to the MOD, why would he be dealing with silver mines with Shurston?

Is this what everyone else used?

Also:

- I'm running Firefox on Mac OS X Tiger, and I can never do the chases, etc, so I lose out reputation on that Sad
- I'm glad I did so well this week, I completely got last week WRONG, I defy anyone to tell me how they got it right the first time around, not in hindsight Razz
- I really love these games! Very Happy

y'know, it'd be great if WikiBruce could set up a new site dedicated to this game. What do you guys think?

that'd be really nice movielord. I have to agree.
19 pages to fiddle through on here just to find out something for a chapter.
Which are we up to now? I think I myself am on 2...

 New one!

The new one is up now! Very Happy

Plus, as an added bonus, they have acknowledged that there is a problem with the Mac related browsers, and at least for me, it's been fixed! I'm on 10.4 running Firefox, and I can do the chases etc again!

Spoilers/Help

Whoo! Either it's getting easier or I'm getting more Holmes-like each week Very Happy

In case anyone gets stuck, the first thing to do is

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Open the desk

and then

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Talk to Lord Shurston yourself as Watson

In particular,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Talk to him about the House of Lords, Lord Atbush and most importantly "The Order". Once you set him off, ie ask the first GOOD question, he will be a very good interviewee.

Final giveaway spoilers:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Get him into a good mental state by mentioning the Order. Then, if you peek at the deduction window, you want to know about his mental state. Nothing more.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You may get confused and worried about the orderlies, but this is less important. What colour of clothing do these men wear? Wink

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Lord Shurston will have views on them.

I've tried to be sequential and not give anything away out of turn. I think there is a logical order, so if you're stuck at a particular stage, work your way down my list carefully. Happy investigating! Smile

I have a few clues to give you guys I found out to give you the 2/2 of critical questions. Keep asking about below.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ask about a spider web which seems to be the orders emblem

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
secondly, also ask about the white spider and who they are

I've been doing pretty well with 221b lately. I've been going solo as Holmes (obvious pick, I know) ever since I've started, and I've never missed a single chapter since it began. I picked Holmes because I like doing investigative work, looking at the clues, and figuring out the truth; in short, I like to think like a detective. Sure, my reputation points have had their ups and downs, but currently they're at a pretty good rank as of Monday.

Sherlock Holmes has been my all-time favorite literary detective (I happen to have ALL of the original Arthur Conan Doyle stories, along with The Hound of the Baskerviles, in chronological order in one BIG hardcover here at home), and, by choosing to play as him over Watson (no offense to Watson; he's awesome, too), it feels like my dream of solving a mystery either alongside him or as him (to a certain extent, mind you) has come true!

So, who did YOU GUYS choose to play as, and why?

Worked alright for me! Slightly laggy this week though, and the 'search' rooms are VERY buggy. If you think you see a clue, you probably have. Just keep clicking at it from different angles just in case. Also, I don't know how anyone can finish this game with only one person. Either you're bluffing or very lucky - for the past two weeks now I've found it ESSENTIAL to use both people's evidence. Still managed to get it right first time Very Happy though I was worried about the motive so wagered a lower reputation figure.

I'm pretty obsessed with this game now, so if anyone's stuck, just ask and I'll help out. Don't want to ruin anything though so I'll keep schtum for now. One of the sillier weeks plot-wise.
