I honestly think Masky is a new character and that he might have become insane from SM. For whatever reason, I seem to think that there is a lot of Lovercraftian elements in this thing, thus making insanity a huge theme in all of my ideas.

Also, in Entry #4 there was the idea of several SM's. could they just be masked men? Like a cult of some sort?

So. Just something I noticed. Masky's behavior, be it swinghing his legs or perching or staring at the camera or stumble-galoping at J, all seem to me that he's some sort of feral child or something - I mean, that he's more like an animal. Swinging his legs and perching could be a weird way of trying to portray that, and the staring at the camera could be in wonder, rather than trying to give us a good shot of his face or whatever. And attacking J is self-explanatory. The only thing that doesn't fit is how after he knocked J out in the house, he put J back into his car. Thoughts?

Due to the timing, Entry 19 seems to be a response to Messages (rather than Messages as a response to Entry 18 ). By waiting longer to reply, totheark has become the dominant force here. J is now anxiously responding to totheark's YouTube videos.

J says he has been filming himself for a month now. That means he started around Entry 17 - the entry that was captioned with "I'm not sure of what to do anymore." In his uncertainty after finding that entry, J did the two things he knew. He went back to the house, and he started filming himself like Alex did. That's his motive for returning to the house. It wasn't a safe/wise choice, but it was the only action he could consider.

"It should be on youtube tomorrow unless something happens" wasn't just to be dramatic after his adventures in the house. J really was in danger in his own home.

J's footage recorded to a harddrive; Alex's footage recorded to tapes. The outcome of both mechanisms experience distortion. Alex's distortion is very different from J's distortion. The movie-reel flicking that we see when Masky is in the room was also seen at the beginning of Exit.

"I've kept all the windows and doors locked". This is exactly what totheark wanted in Signal. Thinking about it creeped me out to no end.

Entry 16: TTA: Hey someone's watching you DONT GO BACK TO THE HOUSE

Entry 17: J: Man I need to go back to that house

TTA: Fine, come back, see what happens

Entry 18: TTA: THIS HOUSE IS DANGEROUS AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS ATTACK BLARG! Now go talk to Tim and he'll tell you the same.

Entry 19: TTA: YOUR HOUSE IS NOT SAFE CUZ SOMEONE WATCHES YOU!!!

I think Masky (who very well may be TTA) is just a very direct an unorthodox guide for J. He didn't want J to get involved so tried to scare J away. Now he knows too much and Masky must forcibly guide him the rest of the way.

This is just one of my many theories, very similar to Masky is watching over and protecting J in his sleep.

edit: and sorry this post is so long but maybe Masky is the bad-guy and SM was trying to protect Alex from him (note Entry 1 where he is initially looking OFF the porch into the night) sorry I'll stop the theories for now. Razz

So uh...nobody's mentioned this (that I noticed, point me out if I'm wrong and I'll delete this), but there's a mask in the window AFTER masked man appeared showing that mask WASN'T with J while J was gone. This means that either J was on his own or that it's SM taking J around.

If you read any of the original SM fiction from the SA thread you get that he likes to take people away and control them...

ANYWAYS, my theory is that MM is someone who either was affected by SM and went insane or is someone that saw SM "get" Alex. Either way, he's either trying to protect J or just trying to observe more SM gore.

I don't think masky's head appears in the window after J is gone. It's really easy to see things that aren't really there in the blinds, especially if you're looking really hard for it, but I'm pretty sure the only actual face we see out there is Masky's before he enters J's room.
