Did you mean to quote the movie "Clue"? Smile

indeed i did. Smile

i'm starting to get into this super-cryptic thing. it's like a jackson pollock painting, or a Rorschach test. what does it mean? well, what do you want it to mean? Smile

has anyone considered the serious possibility that Hatshoe (whoever he/she is) is simply f*cking with us? I ask this because I'm also following Marble Hornets, and in that case, there's enough outlay of effort and capital to be fairly certain that the creators have something serious in mind and will probably finish it. movie cameras, sets, actors, etc., etc.

but in the case of Hatshoe, really the effort required on the part of the PM so far has been pretty minimal. not that i'm criticizing. i don't want glittery videos with high production quality; i'm only pointing it out to say that i am starting to wonder if this is honestly a game *at all* or just a really weird, cryptic public performance piece.

I am leaning towards the latter.

it's quite simple really.
English FATHER
German VATER
VADER/ VATER /FATHER
And then you get the gold chest. Make sure you save afterwards

the hell does that mean?

I think he means this:

According to George Lucas, "Darth" is a variation of "dark," while "Vader"
means "father." (The Dutch word for "father" is "vader," but is pronounced differently; the German "vater" has a closer pronunciation to the name.)

but said in a strange 4chan kinda way, lol

i meant

what in the nine hells has the origin of darth vader's name got to do with hatshoe

*i know he was mentioned in read, but nothing about the origin of his name has been mentioned

EDIT: and since i play more for story than puzzles, the game/wierd way to blog question doesn't really worry me Cool

Hi guys, great to see a new page up. I got a mail from Hatshoe finally, don't know if it's just me but I somehow doubt it. I shall post it below.

In regards to the question 'Is this even a game?' I'm also leaning towards no, but whatever it is it's extremely intriguing and I'm enjoying the interaction too much to care!

Did the usual b&c checks on the new page and the message I got and nothing I could see. For your perusal:

I sent hatshoe a photo of one of my tattoos. He asked if we could be related, as he never knew his parents. I said it is possible, as I only just found my Mother. We are also still discussing gefilte fish and the snot that they come in.

I have thought this wasn't a game from the start. That makes it, in fact, exactly my type of game - the not game game. Hatshoe is a good friend Wink

My only hesitation with the conclusion that it's not a game is the whole "twowithout" adventure, and the occasional message indicating that there's more than meets the eye. For example, the email which discussed being a pedagogue and entering what we find. Those indicate that, at least at some point, the PM had some kind of game in mind. I'll be curious to see if that was just a blip on the radar or whether the "game" part is about to kick into a higher gear.

Well this would be my second not game game out of only two tries at games. Being a noob can't really say one way or the other, could be the paradigm of the pedagogue "clue" was a hint that this is a teaching expedition.

However there are clues to that the fact that there are clues. Also how about WoC that seems game-y? Especially now that he has seems to have pulled the trigger, both literally and figuratively. So my feeling is game maybe pre-game then I would be in two pre-game games.

But if it is a game, Read was either written by someone else OR the "ge in strange" can go into our stack of weird letter/punctuation choices. All the other g's throughout the game are hooked this one is cursive.

Is it just me, or does Read not have a link to it's page on the main page? It shows read, but there seems to be no hyperlink.

random thought, probably unrelated..

tab-selecting the links on the hatshoe main page selects them in a wierd way

anyone think this' important/what could cause it?

[if it's just some browser thing, i use firefox]

I think he meant that the main page doesn't have a link to Read...but it does.

The tab order is defined by the order that they occur in the index.html file. I have tried to discern some sense to the way those are laid out in there; it isn't alphabetical or chronological or spatial. But I haven't had any luck. So while it may mean something, I don't know what it is.
