Kinda Sorta Mostly n00b here (:

So, I'm not completely new to ARGs, I did Vanishing Point on Neowin forums and I was in that one from start to finish for the most part. But all the ones I'm seeing on here (like this one, even though this one seems the easiest to understand) have either been going for a while and are way too far into things to jump in randomly, or they're finished. I need someone to school me xD (Like, I have no idea what Meta even is.) Because I'm kinda computer stupid. But I like the imagination part of ARGs and Vanishing Point was one hell of a good time. So anyone want to volunteer to help a tech-illiterate girl out? >__> And let me know when new games are discovered so I can start at the beginning with everyone else? Very Happy

OK, breaking this up into pieces -- first, META refers to a discussion about the game itself rather than the puzzles/characters/story. For instance, in Vanishing Point there was a lot of speculation about exactly what the game was promoting for Microsoft: that was discussed in a "META" thread (I played through Vanishing Point on the unfiction side of things and also had a blast.)

39 Clues isn't actually that hard to jump into, because the books make the experience fairly linear and puzzle solves are documented in the game's wiki for when you have troubles. Don't worry, the puzzles here aren't as hard as the ones on Vanishing Point, so it's possible to do quite a bit on your own. I just started this game a few days ago, myself.

If you're looking for news on new games, you can check the News & Rumors section of unfiction -- just realize that you're going to have to sift through a lot before you find a game that suits your fancy. Information on new games also goes up at argn.com, despoiler.org, and wikibruce.com -- argn.com/now_playing is a list of some of the games currently going on. Love Letters to the Future is the most recent game to tickle my fancy, although I've been hearing good things about the LEGO game (Bradford Rant) and the Dollhouse game (Ditch the Tech). Exoriare really impressed me with its launch, although I haven't checked up on it for a while.
