[UPDATE] 8/31 Dana's Blog "Eavesdropping" http://ilovebees.blogspot.com/2004/08/eavesdropping.html
Quote:
And the axons keep on coming.
The Operator's clock struck midnight, and now we've got axons in 160 cities in 44 states.
She thinks you're her crew. You're playing along, and you're re-assembling her memory fragments. Good. That seems like the best chance we have to understand what she wants and how to help her – or how to stop her, if we need to.
324 payphones to find. 36 new messages to intercept.

...my favorite game growing up was "the eavesdropping game." My mom taught it to me, and I think she made it up. It was a fortune telling game. We played it in elevators, on trains, or standing in line at the store — anywhere there were people to eavesdrop on.
This is how it started: One of us would tug our right earlobe twice. That was the secret signal. Then we would be quiet and listen to the people around us. We would listen for magic words — we had a whole list of them. If you heard someone say "Go," it meant you were going to take a trip soon. If you heard the word "why," it meant you were going to solve a mystery. If someone said "never," it meant that something you thought would never ever happen, not in a million years, was just about to come true. We always listened for me first, and then we listened for Mom. Our list of magic words kept getting longer and longer and longer, because every time we played we would add another word. My mom would whisper, "Dana! Did you hear what that woman said to the waiter? She said, 'lemon'... and that means you're going to get kissed!" And then she would pucker her lips and laugh, and just like that 'lemon' would be added to the list.
When we played, Mom always said we were eavesdropping on the future.
*
To all the axon-seekers: Go out in groups, get each others' backs. Fan out if you have to, but keep communicating — that seems to really help.
I know a lot of you are putting in heroic efforts... driving hours out of your way, going back to failed axons to try again. I'm speechless about it. I just wanted to let you know that I know, and it's truly awesome.
Keep going hot, guys.

Same game as Melissa? Maybe a subtle explanation as to why some of these don't fit together nicely?

Most interesting to me is the idea of "magic words"

Those magic words are very interesting. Could it be that these could be key words used to open future axons. Or perhaps they are code words used in relationship with the princess as she appears to be the one "eavesdropping" on the queen...

special words Maybe we should put extra care and figure out which words are being repeated the most in the .wavs or relate them to the text snippets found on ILB. as we are doing with the SPs secret codes. Maybe they will open up other secret pages.

She spoke about having a list of magic words, and listening to people's conversation to 'eavesdrop' on the future. The people's conversation's we're eavesdropping on are these audio files, so what are our 'magic words?' Maybe there are specific words interlaced throughout the files that we're supposed to pick out.

Hey! How does Dana knows what we should be doing?
I know she's apparently only making some suggestions but she's being too criptic about them. Does she got insider info we don't. Are we sure her site hasn't been hacked as well!?
Anyone has emailed her asking for her inspiration?

Technically, she doesn't know anything more than we do, but throughout the game, the PM's have apeared to send us clues as to how we should proceed through cryptic messages from her. Hell when a lot ofus were taking a stance that we didn't have to actually go to the axons, it was through Dana that they encouraged us to visit the points.
So no, she doesn't technically know anymore than we do, but her cute little stories are meant to be more than meets the eyes. I think we've seen enough of them to corroborate that this is the case.

Well, there are specific words to each file that become its name. It's possible there could be more to it than that, but I don't see that much depth in this.

The file names happen to seem like "magic words" to me. But that would seem too obvious.
So much dialog to sift through X_X
Yeah, Dana definitely seems on the inside. Her e-mail address has 777 in it!

I can't help but think that this little eavesdropping story has to be significant in the game. I say this because there is apparently no reason for Dana to be telling us this story, it sort of comes out of the blue, and she even separates it with *'s. Now I don't know if it is significant through the "magic word" or not. But I do think that this little tale is worthy of looking into.... especially the whole eavesdropping on the future reference....

I think the file names may be magic words as well. It might be possible that the theme of the .wav file is the meaning behind the magic word. Or at least the way it is used.

Hasn't anyone already tried coming up with links between all the names of the .wavs? Surely we're meant to look inside the files themselves and find "magic words" of our own. Perhaps what we decide should be "magic words" may influence what happens next?
EDIT: In retrospect, perhaps we're being forewarned that "magic words" will be easy to find within the upcoming .wavs we'll be unlocking this week... or maybe in the next set of 4 (or so) single axons that may pop up after that...

i'd stick my neck out and say that, although in the context of the game, Dana is 'one of us', it seems clear that she is with whoever's in charge of the game. I see her as some kind of intermediary. She's helping us play the game, by kinda hinting at what we should be doing. I'd say pay careful attention to what she's saying in that blog. As it was rightly pointed out, when we weren't sure what to do with the axons, she suggested we should be there (kinda). So yeah, i'd say when Dana starts talking about games played by listening to people, eavesdropping, and we have a load of sound files we're listening to, on conversations, maybe we should be analysing them, to try and find out the future (as they're set in the future, no?)
