well, i'm going to be attempting
miracles -- 14:17 PDT -- 28.086757 -082.459400
the acme link for it puts it right at the edge of the street, but if you head due east, you reach the entrance for albertsons, where there are two payphones that accept incoming calls. i scouted it out and tested the phones at lunch. there also don't seem to be any other phones in the area, at least on that side of the street.

i'm rather sure there are some others across the street near the blockbuster, but i didn't check as i was pressed for time. if i don't make it and someone else does, note that the albertsons phones have INCREDIBLY QUIET ringers. i was standing right next to it and had a hard time hearing it when i called it from my cellphone.

if i get there and they don't ring i'll check across the street for more phones and report back.

Yes and no. I know there were people who arranged days off last week to hit Axons. This week no one was sure what was up. Also, this time we've got three Axons per target. I think we'd have only picked up a handful on the first day last time if that were the case. That and we've lost the "free Halo2 Demo" crowd.

I've got a pretty flexible work schedule myself, but can only sneak out/show up late/leave early enough to do one a day. Bet we have them all by Thursday night.

I've been lurking here and other places for a while, and i'm looking to get involved. Are there any new axions in Milwauke, WI or anywhere in SE WI? How would I got about figuring that out? I know it might be a bit late in the game, because most of the new axions are around old ones, but I want in.

Wasn't that my point? That we have lost a lot of folks who were picking up axons before?

I activated the one that works in Madison, and it is definitely more of the same stuff. More details later

I wish I had been able to activate the Ft. Lauderdale, FL, axon. I was unable to locate a working phone after 2 trip down there. Oh well, 2 hours round trip was a long time to drive just to pick up a phone. Too bad nobody lived closer Confused

Report from Virgina Beach [Dude 6:37]
This was my second axon, the first was same location from first set of axons [hey soilder]
Unlike the first time I was the only one there today. Upon awnsering the phone Mellisa sounded like she was "glitching" finally she was able to say that she was unsure if she could trust me and asked me her real name.
I had to say "Melissa" almost 8 times befroe she said "ok". She then played the clip. I dont want to write to much about the clip cause if I somehow remered something wrong I know I'm gonna get slamed. It was a conversation between 2 young men (20's?) One was possibly a cop. Has to do with one of them pressing a button that had every cop in the area respond to a certain location, but he did it as a diversion for something. And his buddy, the cop? was kinda pissed he did it. Then they started talking about someone, I think a girl bringin over some leftovers.
Sorry I couldnt record it or write it down, but I barley made it in time once I saw the new axons this morning. The call ended with the operator sounding more "confused" and "desperate" and the weird i love bees, bees clip.

EDIT. having now heardthe red clip, it makes a lot in dude make sense. Niether person in dude is a cop. It's aiden and kamal.

Kudos to whoever hit the 10:33 curious_girl in New York. I was at the Greene & 4th phones, but they never rang - where is that phone, anyway?

Anybody have plans for the 13:37 shock_sticks? It maps to 10th St & 5th, and Verizon's wifi lookup shows a phone between 10th & 11th on 5th. I'm not sure if I can sneak out of work again today, but I'll try to hit it tomorrow if it's not hot by then.

Big time lurker here.

I live 1 mile away from this axon. If you can, confirm that you'll be there today otherwise I'll activate this axon.

Thanks

30.274933 -097.741183

miracles
14:23 PDT
30.267528 -097.744512
5th and Colorado

If ya need me...

New Massachusetts Locations

Two new coords are in MA:

tack_hammer / 14:01 PDT / 42.220535 -071.027944
&
visa / 12:07 PDT / 42.077586 -071.033868

The 12:07 location is most likely:

Dairy Queen
344 Belmont St.
Brokcton, MA
Probably payphone #: 508-583-9813

The 14:01 is probably inside the South Shore Plaza, which has a TON of payphones. They are:

781-843-9558 = lower level entrance 5
781-843-9552 = lower level entrance 5
781-843-9541 = lower level entrance near Macy's
781-843-9697 = lower level entrance near Macy's
781-843-9578 = lower level entrance near Macy's
781-843-9615 = lower level entrance near Macy's
781-848-3170 = lower level entrance near Sears
781-848-3172 = lower level entrance near Sears
781-848-3447 = lower level entrance near Sears
781-843-9162 = lower level escalators near Filene's
781-843-6949 = lower level escalators near Filene's
781-843-9023 = lower level escalators near Filene's
781-843-9551 = lower level escalators near Filene's
781-794-9901 = lower level escalators near Lord & Taylor
781-794-9900 = lower level escalators near Lord & Taylor
781-794-9902 = lower level escalators near Lord & Taylor
781-794-9903 = lower level escalators near Lord & Taylor
781-794-9922 = entrance 6
781-848-6840 = entrance 8
781-848-3447 = upper level by ATM near The Gap
781-848-6885 = upper level entrance near The Gap
781-794-9915 = upper level near restrooms
781-794-9916 = upper level near restrooms
781-794-9917 = upper level near restrooms
781-794-9914 = upper level near restrooms
781-794-9918 = upper level near restrooms

I'd guess it's one of the upper level restrooms because that's also where the food court is and it seems almost all of these axons are located at or near restaurants.

I probably can't get to either until the weekend. Anyone else able to tackle either of these?

Refer to http://www.theblackforge.net/hivekuts-coords.html for
maps.

12:33: The Human Heart (repeat).

32.785099 -117.129132

This is the pay phone, OUTSIDE, of the McDonald's at Fenton Marketplace (where the Mission Valley CostCo is). The McDonald's is on the corner of Friars and Northside. Should be no trouble to find this.

13:53: Tack Hammer (new).

32.720605 -117.172889

Hah! This should be fun. This is across the street from the Star of India.
If memory serves, this is very close to Anthony's Fish Grotto. Searching the payphone lists gives two likely sets:

619-238-9232...Anthony's Fish Grotto.........1360 N Harbor Dr...inside*
619-238-9124...Anthony's Fish Grotto.........1360 N Harbor Dr...womens room*

619-531-9806...Cruise Ship Tours.............1140 N Harbor Dr...outside*
619-238-9523...Cruise Ship Tours.............1200 N Harbor Dr...outside*

The problem is that the map indicates otherwise. Anthony's points are south of the marked area. The Cruise Ship Tours spots are even further south. People who wish to hunt this out should know that the exact point is NORTH of Ash St., and on the EAST side of the street, next to the large parking lot across the street from the Star of India.

(EDIT: I remember the Star and cruise ship being SOUTH of Anthony's, which would put those phones in the right spot, but I haven't been there in a while. Feel free to scout around.)

16:13: I Hate You (new).

32.690600 -117.245000

Point Loma, Cabrillo National Monument.

Son of a...I was in Point Loma yesterday for work.
Note that 'work', in this case, is Fort Rosecrans. Not exactly where I was, but close. Anyone who's familiar with the area will understand that there is a large military presence there.

The actual point is on the way to the Cabrillo National Monument. It is almost certainly one of these two phones:

619-226-8860...Cabrillo National Monument....Auditorium...outside*
619-226-9588...Cabrillo National Monument....Auditorium...outside*

It's on Cabrillo Memorial Drive. The mark is at a small turnoff (probably the one that leads to the auditorium).

16:55: Right (repeat).

32.736089 -117.149150

The pay phones outside the San Diego Zoo. People should know where they are, though it did take a while to get it the first time. Which bank was it? The ones by the photo hut? There are four phones there.

619-237-9013...San Diego Zoo.................2920 Zoo Dr...Safari Photo Outpost*
619-238-9727...San Diego Zoo.................2920 Zoo Dr...Safari Photo Outpost*

619-238-9734...San Diego Zoo.................2920 Zoo Dr...exit*
619-238-9735...San Diego Zoo.................2920 Zoo Dr...exit*

17:31: Creamsicle (new, and WTF?)

32.847369 -117.277297

Interesting. The list says 'Mission Bay'. This isn't even close. It's in downtown La Jolla, marked at the corner of Coast Blvd. and Jenner St. No idea what's at that particular intersection, besides the beach--I envy the person going there.

I was at the one in the San Diego Zoo on the 24th but nothing happened cause of the prank calls and people started using the phones around 1751. this time around I wont be able to be there casue i get home around that time 1655, but i could make it if i really wanted to.....the other ones are just too early and i will be at work during that time.....i wonder if you are the guy from coronado

I am not. So far I'm merely watching surreptitously. My schedule doesn't permit me to chase around town--I was only considering it when it took five days to hit the Zoo. My main interest is in growing our axon (which seems to be the whole point of this--regenerating neural connections).

I came over as a Xbox fan, yes in hopes for something on the 24th, having never heard of an ARG before, now I am hooked and going ILB crazy.

OK, I've been pointed here to post reports of visiting the axons as well as coordination, so here we go.

9:29 PDT code_nothing HOT. This site was previously a dud and was cancelled in round 1 (11:53). The payphone-directory had the wrong phone# and it never rang.
Soo, I posted the correct phone# here and sent the correct # to the payphone-directory (where it was also updated by the webmaster there), and today it rang. Rock On

Melissa's watching us guys. Wink

So, if you have axons that are wrong and you can prove it, do so. If there is a next round, it will be an easy "hot".

OK, reporting what happened:

Melissa states that she doesn't know how long she can keep this communication working, then goes into the normal spiel of "crewmember, what's my real name?" After responding with "Melissa" we get:

.wav file summary: (thanks Shontu!)
It was Jan talking to her "dad" James. Apparently Duane (who she's friends with… his dad had the gate pass from the first memory fragment story) came by or something. Jan doesn't really like Duane hitting on her. Jan asks her dad in a humorus/sarcastic voice "Aren't you supposed to scare guys like that away" (more or less what she said). James senses Jan wants to talk. She says its nothing, but then opens up… she says that she wishes her "dad' would talk more about his past and his "unit" (war stores and such). James is a bit uncomfortable (impression I got) about talking about his past. He asks Jan if she'd like him to be more like the "d-mobs"(?) and sit around the house all day drinking and telling stories. Jan says "yah, sometimes" (more or less).

Hope this helps. Hopefully we'll get the rest that we need tomorrow and won't need this much longer.

Also, Shontu (serious lurker, but good friend of mine) says he's got the 12:17 PDT visa covered. I'll get the 14:11PDT miracles.
