Look at the color of the blood. It's bright red. It's very, very fresh.

A minor scratch on the scalp would bleed about that much, I've got the scars and experience to say that, but they seal fairly quickly. Three years? That blood would be black or brown. Assuming that, y'know. No one ever used that sink again.

As for the bullet casing, why was it underneath things? Remember, he had to pick an object up to reveal the casing. If there had been a gunshot leading to the blood being that fresh, it should have been on the top layer of debris, not the floor.

It's stage blood. As in, it does not turn brown with oxidisation. I think the fact that J scratches at it is supposed to indicate that it's not completely fresh, but it's most likely not supposed to be three years old either.

The creators probably didn't go around bleeding people just to get realistic blood that they could use for their production, y'know.

It's stage blood, this is coming from about 4 years of theater experience. (pretty realistic though)

Uh-oh. Looks like Sarah's been a naughty girl. Sarah, look what you've unleashed upon us!

But yes, I agree. I see it, time and again, people saying that the blood must be fresh because it's bright red.

The reason real blood turns brown is because the iron in it oxidises. Stage blood doesn't turn brown because it doesn't have iron in it. And considering that the creators probably didn't go around slitting people open just to get the most realistic-looking blood to spatter about the house, I'd say we can't judge how fresh it is supposed to be based on the colour.

It drives me nuts at times when people read things into these videos that are usually just quirks due to the fact that it's a production by some college kids. Hell, even with a big budget things in films don't always turn out as realistically as can be.

I would have used a quote but I didn't feel like going back.

As far as theories go, yours is no more far fetched or impossible than robots and mind control, however I do wish that people (not just you, anyone trying to make sense of all of this) would pay more attention.

(I know someone mentioned this, but I'm restating it because I agree with the fact that in case seeing it in the first entry wasn't enough, it needs to be pointed out.)

Alex did NOT tell Jay to burn the tapes. Alex told Jay that he was going to burn the tapes himself. This is what prompted Jay to convince Alex to give him the tapes in the first place. If Alex had told Jay to burn them, the entire story wouldn't make sense. K? K. Thx.

Oh and sorry for the double post, but my two cents on the blood in the sink thing IS

It's a bit much to ask that they make the blood completely realistic, especially since they ARE just students, however, since we kinda have to approach watching the videos under the assumption that everything is a clue, don't you think that the creators would at least TRY to get the color right to get their meaning across?

I mean, regardless of how it got there, if it was fresh, it was fresh. That's a clue. If it were brown and dried up, that would be a clue too. Just a different one. You guys are taking the clue factor out of it by arguing what actual blood does vs. what fake blood does vs. who put it there vs. how it got there vs. the splash patterns it made and whether it was puked up or coughed up vs. everything else. IG, I highly doubt that whoever was squatting in that house, if anyone, would find fake blood to put in a sink just for Jay to find........

Yes, but my point is that they consciously let it dry. J sticks his hand in the sink and scratches at the blood, and nothing comes off on his finger. That, I think is supposed to be an indication that the blood is not immediately fresh, not the colour.

Stage blood is made with corn syrup and food colouring, undoubtedly they used a recipe for the stuff, which tells you how much of each ingredient to put into the stuff. It seems to me as thought it would be a lot of wasted time and money to tweak that around for a while, trying to find the perfect shade of brown to indicate how old the stuff is.

Anyway, as I read once in a book about artistic painting, it said that blood is best painted as being red, because it ironically looks too little like blood when painted realistically, and turns out too hard to identify.

...Wow, this argument is dumb. I think I'm going to drop it at this, as my point has been made. It just kind of bugs me when people don't take into consideration contributing factors of why something would have been done in a way that isn't entirely realistic, but is much more possible than the people involved. Like that argument of whether TTA/Masky attacked J or ran right by him, presumably because the actor ran past J so that they wouldn't actually injure themselves or damage the camera. However, in-game the character was supposed to have attacked him, destroying the "ran past him" theory.

Really though. Caked on brown doesn't usually have people thinking 'omg blood' right off the bat...
