192?=1929 maybe

Looking at the picture of list of patients of Ward B, Second floor, south...at the date the year appears to me to be 1929. As you can see the bottom of the last digit...and the curve matches the 9 in the type. Though, I could be wrong.

I know it's already been said, but we can't forget that Ann was admitted and then she started hearing voices from the dead.

Does this mean that there were/are perhaps many people who felt they spoke with the dead? Is this place really haunted and the dead speak to many inmates and staff?
One of the workers building the original Chapel claimed a ghost followed him home, and now we have two girls claiming to speak with the dead. Real haunting or mass hallucination???

This quote along with too many others to post all go back to the same thing that has been posted numerous times before.

Infrasound

Where does this fit into the puzzle? The workers at the chapel reported hearing something before they began seeing a ghost. Could this have been the sound that the two girls are claiming are voices from beyond?

I would say yes.

Here is my reasoning behind this:

We all know that CMH had a pretty extensive tunnel system in place to move patients, personnel, machinery, etc. We also know about some of the "treatments" that were given there (e.g. Shock therapy). Specualting here, but those machines couldn't have been quiet. What if the sounds that people were hearing were just echos of that machinery. But would that be enough to drive a person mad? I thought I read a post earlier stating that this is possible (Sorry can't find it right now).

Sorry if this is old info. I scanned the boards and didn't see this conclusion anywhere else.

Don't forget that per Charles' history, CMH was built on the site of an abandoned mine, as was the Gold Mine Hotel (as dmax pointed out elsewhere I think). As far as possible sources of infrasound go, I would think the mine would be a better candidate than the man-made tunnels. (After all, every major city has hundreds of tunnels running beneath at least some of their buildings, containing all manner of infrastructure machinery, but we don't hear much about infrasound driving people mad all that often.)

Sorry forgot all about the mines.

I rather thought that was the point, that we don't hear much about infrasound? Very Happy

Speculation of course, but I think it's possible that those tunnels may be connected to the mines, somehow. There's a story on the CMH website about a man who attempted to escape through the tunnel system, only to be caught by security personnel and shot 13 times before he could achieve his freedom.

I wonder if he didn't wander into an entirely theoretical dangerous infrasound "hotspot", go mad and have to be killed?

Actually, I think the abandoned mine was under the first site of CMH. Then the mine started to collapse, so they had to tear down the old building before it was actually able to be used and rebuild it somewhere else. Although I think it was nearby to the original site, so I suppose the mine might have been underneath the second site too.
