Well, I emailed him, referencing the two words he sort of emphasized on the omegle chat.

Quote:
sir,
do you find yourself lost in Time? or perhaps you wish you could Return?
your faithful servant

He replied with

Quote:
Exactly so, friend.
I don't suffer in this condition presently, however.

I asked him if that meant he could "speak freely" but so far he hasn't responded to that. Again, I have no idea where this fits.

EDIT so I don't double-post, but exciting news! I heard back from Hatshoe with this:

Quote:
Whatisthemistake?
.jpg

That spacing is as it was in the email.

I've been lurking for a while but haven't contributed. WoC latest tweet was that it was illegal to put tires with chains on their car or something like that. This confirms for sure that Hatshoe is in Canada, and most likely where I am, Ottawa (or somewhere around there), as we just had our first big snowfall and suddenly we get a tweet about putting special snow tires on. This is only speculation of course, but it would be cool if Hatshoe was here.

another random thought. One of the pages points at the holes and asks why there's white inside when the outside is black. if you change it to .jpg instead of .html the background is white. Maybe thee's something we need to see looking at the pages in .jpg format?

I think it means that there's a mistake in one of his pages that is more than one word. And there are no spaces in the answer and it has a file extension of .jpg.

Initially I thought it could be something involving Kurt Cobain. But I tried a ton of things like kurtcobain.jpg and kurdtcobain.jpg and kurtcobaine.jpg and kurdtcobaine.jpg and that didn't work so I dunno where to go from here.

I received an email from our man, indicating that we're on the right track with the email address. To add to my list of not-live.com-accounts: kurdtcobain, kurdtcobaine, kurtcobain. I tried those earlier, based on one of the source code clues. I really thing this email address thing isn't from one of the more recent hints/clues. He's indicated a few days ago that we already have all the clues we need to figure it out. I'll keep playing around with what we have.

[Edit]: Looking at the "Notes" page, I tried adjusting the brightness and contrast. It looks like there might be something there, since the note says

Quote:
Also you pressed to hard when you wrote
before and now I can see those words
showing up on this page.

There looks like there's something there, but I'm not sure what it is.

I fail at reading comprehension. This was already tried on, like, page 7, lol.

Miss me? I bet you didn't even know I was gone. I had to go and make sure Vegas had plenty of money to keep the lights on.

So a lot happened while I was drinkin' and gamblin' and yet here we are seemingly no closer to a clue as what we are doing even after a convo with the guy. Except that Hatshoe is in the future and wants to change something now so he doesn't die in 3 years a la Flash Forward. That whole temporal time travel thing.

Some things I see after a few days off:

The Third Unseen has a twitter posting referencing part 32 of a Walt Whitman poem. An interesting read and you can see the reference does seem to fit in a weird long poem sort of way.

Interesting idea on us being Carl seems logical especially with the email talking about wearing boots that make the reader look daper. I still need a program as to who is who but that's just me ranting.

For those of leaning toward the grunge, Cobain's middle name is Donald which could be one of the "three missing" (I don't think so) but it is a D as mentioned. There is also a reference to an additive mostly used for digital. TAG is the only thing that comes to my mind

I like the snow chains input from isthatcode. First thing I thought of was I wonder where they are illegal. Unfortuantely the where doesn't really gives us any of the other "w's" but good to know anyway.

I sent an email to sheogorathSPLATlive.com and have received no bounce back after 30 minutes unfortunately if it is correct I don't know what to do from there.

Also there was a clue early in the pedagogue email that speaks of entering what you find after adopting the way the pedagogue.

Pretty much got confirmation that Hatshoe has at least heard of the chans.
Quote:
I love your new pages! Have you heard of the "chans"? What it entails? I would love to understand more about you, friend!

Sincerely with thirty-fours,

I have heard of it.

Walt influenced many generations... Read his poem, "Song of Myself"! The most interesting section in it would be section 42. Veritas?

Thethirdunseen has come back after a "resting" period from what his last twitter message suggests. He might have been the one that asked Hatshoe to take a break... Not sure. Anyways his new tweet is interesting! Seems to refer to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... 42 is the answer to the universe and everything. Etc. But it also seems to relate as Whitecross pointed out.

And yes, I missed you cross. And I assume you meant 42?

The chans are image boards. 4chan being one of the most notable. We have people that are following Hatshoe(although inconsistently) via 4chan's /x/ board. Which of course is occasionally overrun by the /b/ board. Which is why a lot of us had trouble finding Hatshoe on omegle in my opinion.

LOL, you might be better off than those of us who do know who they are!

Also, my last message didn't post because the internet hates me. Basically, I couldn't find any information on any place in North America where snow chains are illegal. In fact, in several places in Canada, they're mandatory in bad weather. So it's weird.

I like the theory that Carl = us, and it seems to fit with some tweets, but some not. Maybe Hat uses it for duel purposes -- spying on his neighbor AND communicating with us en masse. It's probably faster and more efficient to tweet than to write on piece of paper, scan it, yada yada yada.

Is TheThirdUnseen the third of four? His Twitter bio is "My will is what holds me. I must be set free from this existence."

I haven't been sending emails, because I'm afraid of freaking some random person out, lol. I've been going to "forgot password" and typing in possible @live.com addresses to see if they are active accounts. I'm keeping a running tally of what works/doesn't work. I emailed Hat for a bit of confirmation about the password.

I have been using that tactic as well.

Me to HS:

Quote:
Sometimes there was a d in Kurt.
Sometimes there was a K in Cobain.
Frances Bean is beautiful.

You put dots on hatshoe to make it look fancy, like those stores.
You put them in weird places.
The fancy is odd.

I dry my face first.

p.s.

your hatshoe looks a lot like a hatboot.

HS to Me:

Quote:
I appreciated the symmetry
A K in Cobain though?
Perhaps sometimes too many in it as well.

I have misplaced my good ones and had to use that, I hope they won't notice.

hello guys
just some thoughts here
i think that we are on the right track with the kurt cobaine/nirvana references
honestly i think that the live.ca adress doesnt have anything to do with colors... though that was my first thought, and when i googled additives, it came up with the RGB color additives.

i mean look at the way that our hint is phrased
Splatlive.com
and to enter, use the missing of the three. (end of sentence)
Additive(as in extra), mostly used in digital.

i think that when HS says additive, he means in addition...

i was thinking that he might be talking about nirvana as a band, because technically they only had 3 members all throughout. Kurt Cobaine, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.
it might have something to do with novoselic because he was the bass player... and i figure bass is the largest component in digital music... though i might just be looking at this puzzle from a musicians point of view.
