I'd have to agree with the bathed in constant light argument. I'd be ass-deep in light generating items, from glow sticks to light bulbs.

I guess if you wanted an IG rationale it could be so he doesn't hurt his night vision. If he's sitting in the dark he can see in the dark better than if he was in the the light and it suddenly went dark, or he went outside.

I would put an IG reason to be, he is locked in his room of his apartment or where he lives, and not out working, so he can't pay his electricity bills so they shut off his power, but his new obsession has lead him to not care. That is my interpretation, at least.

If he has no electricity, how would he get the video up?

Public... library?

A very good point.

Problem there, is that if he was enough of a shut-in to not pay his bills, he probably wouldn't go to the library.

Not sure if relevant, but does anyone know what caliber the casing is?

I know, I had just realized that my point had been made moot and I was trying desperately to justify it Smile

I am now liking the idea that he shut the lights off so that he isn't seen by Slenderman, but that has already been stated elsewhere so I will waste no more time re-explaining concepts!

EDIT: Maybe the reason TTA/Masky took the bullet casing is because he didn't want J to eventually use it as evidence? Since (I think, from watching CSI and such) every time a bullet is shot, forensics can do a search on the serial number/some sort of identification to figure out what firearm shot the bullet, Masky could have been afraid that J would eventually lead it back to whoever owned the firearm? (ie. Alex or anyone else) Which would look hella suspicious!

Also could be the reason the label was ripped off the pills. Was the label ripped off when he got them, or was it ripped off the same time the pills went missing? I missed that.

It looks like a .38 SPC to me.

EDIT: Maybe a little too thick for a .38. We could ask Jay about it.

Hello.

2nd time posting. Did anyone notice the the label was still on the bottle of pills when he took it originally? Just thought I would mention it...

The 'so shut in he doesn't care the power's out' theory reminds me of House of Leaves.

But seconded, Warbear- power being out is not likely.

I have no idea if this may be helpful or a trout or who know's what, but if you take out all the shared letters from both phrases the following remains:

at kr wer

which can be anagrammed into the following:

ark wert
raw trek
ret wark
trek raw
trek war
war trek
wark ret
wert ark

Can't see anything myself, but I rewatched Entry #5 and I believe the site with the red tower was supposed to be (within the Marble Hornets film) near the site of Sarah's hunting camp. That, together with the presence of 'trek', 'war' and 'raw' in the list, the fact that Slendy's behaviour is rather similar to hunting- erk, idk.

With all the lights shut off, and not leaving at all, he could be pretending his house is abandoned. If he can convince TTA / Masky that he's not there, he might be able to have a safe place again without actually going anywhere new.

How would him having his lights off imply that his house is abandoned? Or do you mean he's trying to make it look like he's not filming from his house?

Well, if the lights in a house are out, and no one is seen entering or leaving at any time, you would presume no one lives there. Especially if they gave an indication that they might be moving, like J did at the end of entry 19.

I think he's trying to make it look like he's not at his house so that he can trick TTA / Masky, and entry 19.5 just shows us a glimpse of how he's doing that.

Taping himself and putting it on Youtube for the masses to see would seem kind of counterproductive. People would also assume that he's at his house because he put the video on Youtube.

Hmm... let me try and break it down.

Entry 19: TTA makes it clear he knows where J is, and can get to him at anytime. J mentions that he needs to find somewhere safe to stay.

His house then appears to become abandoned.

Entry 19.5: J uploads a video, but it's impossible to determine where he is.

To pretty much anyone watching 19.5, it seems like J is just hiding in the dark. But to TTA, who has seen the abandoned house, it seems as though J is keeping the video dark to disguise his new location, thus ensuring TTA won't be able to find him again.

TTA assumes that J is somewhere new, leaves the house alone, and starts searching for where J might be now.

It doesn't matter what the people watching the video think. It's what TTA thinks that matters. And you can upload a video from anywhere.

Though you'd think that if TTA has been watching J, he'd know if he were hiding somewhere else.

I doubt TTA is watching J 24/7. He makes the response videos which, presumably, means he spends time editing and uploading them somewhere the same way everyone else does.
And even if he doesn't stop watching J for even a short period of time, most houses have more than one entrance, and TTA is just one person. He can't be everywhere at once.
There's ample opportunity for J to slip away unnoticed.
