Yeah, I used to have Audacity because it was a decent free editor and I was in a band at the time, pretty decent software for being free. But obviously editing music is a lot different than decoding audio for the purpose of something being hidden.

Glad you guys are starting to figure the program out, because I'm in a similar boat. Can we like host this clip on YouTube or something and have Donna listen to it? This isn't a DO IT, I'd like to hear any of your thoughts before we do this, because Donna is fragile in a way. She's obviously a strong girl but you've got to figure all this crap suddenly happening at once is taking a toll on her.

EDIT: Keep an eye on her Twitter, too. She said she'll be back this afternoon, but I have work at 3 EST so I'll be out the door around 2:30. She might not be back until after that. She said she'll be back "w/ Soph!" which kind of looks like foreshadowing that Sophie won't exactly be making the trip back with her.

Yeah, we're kind of all just messing around with it, that's the best we got thus far. We're using Audacity, it's a free program, Google it if you want it. If you know of any other good programs, let us know. Or feel free to have a crack at it yourself (audionoob or not, you might stumble on something we didn't see). These last few uploads are edits, the original sound file is a page or two back in the thread.

Don't remember which one I'm working off of, but props on all the noise reduction, etc. I tried not to read interpretations before I worked on it, though I did see the 'Ryan.' With such a high noise to signal ratio I think we're running into a pattern recognition problem in that you see what you expect to see to an extent. All that aside, here are my guesses...
There are five separate bits of sound. 1st has 2 syllables, 2nd has 5, 3rd has 1, 4th has 1, last has 2. All of these are only best guesses...

1st - really does sound like Ryan or maybe Brian.
2nd - This is the hard one. My best guess is, "I really need you?" I'm not at all sold on that.
3rd - "help"
4th - "please?"
5th - "Thank you."

The obvious next step is to ask if she knows a Ryan if that hasn't been done already.
