I am waiting on my Watson to confirm my Ch 5 deduction. As soon as she does that, I'll be merrily on my way to Ch 6

Here is my interview so far. As it is my first, I am not sure if one must ask questions in a certain order. I've marked questions that get a rise in the meter.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
S.H - Did you know your daughter's death was faked?

L.A - Of course I knew nothing of Helena's real fate. I simply believed she died of Scarlet Fever.

S.H - Did you know another woman was buried in Helena's coffin?

L.A - You must know you are disturbing me. Please get to the point.

S.H - Is the Order behind all of this?

L.A - I have no idea what you are referring to by the Order.

S.H - What hold did you have over Shurston?

L.A - How dare you imply that! Any more questions like that and I'll have you thrown out. *EXCELLENT*

S.H - Where is Dr. Clarence?

L.A - I do not know where Clarence is. A man of my position does not generally follow his doctor around. *KEEP GOING WITH THIS METHOD*

S.H - Do you know Alice Clarence?

L.A - You seem terribly worried about the fate of daughters, Mr Holmes. I have no idea whether it could be the body of Alice Clarence in the coffin.

S.H - Did you have anything to do with these murders?

L.A - How dare you! I am not the murderer and I'll thank you not to accuse me of it.

S.H - Did you know Shurston was being poisoned?

L.A - Shurston and I have known each other a long time and have undertaken several joint ventures. I was sorry to hear of his death. **

S.H - Have you seen this amulet?

L.A - I am not the sort of man who spends too long in grieving, therefore I did not see Helena's body before she was buried. **

here is my conversation after I had to re log in

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
L.A - I don't know how you got in here. This is highly irregular.

S.H - do you know where clarence is?

L.A - I am certainly not privy to Clarence's plans.

S.H - aren't you a part of the old boys

L.A - I have not heard of the Order.

S.H - did you know Olivia was poisoned

[SUCCESS!] Olivia tragically died in the fire at the asylum but I know little else about it; Clarence handled everything concerning her. If only he wasn't dead I'd suggest you talk to him about it. [LORD ATBUSH WILL HAVE TO STOP FOBBING YOU OFF NOW ALTHOUGH HE MIGHT STILL BE RELUCTANT WITH THE TRUTH]

S.H - Clarence is dead?

L.A - I understand that this corpse found in the river might be that of Clarence, but honestly I have not followed the story very closely.

S.H - did you go to Mullrooneys with him

L.A - Clarence must answer this question himself, I cannot pretend to know anything about the man personally.

S.H - do you know his wife alice?

L.A - Shurston and I were at Eton together. He always relied on me for business advice.

S.H - what types of advice did you give him

L.A - It almost sounds like you doubt my integrity! The truth is whatever I say it is!

S.H - how do you know Clarence is dead

L.A - It might be that the body found in the river was that of Clarence. I do not know whether he is dead or alive.

S.H - when was the last you talked to him

L.A - If Clarence disappeared when police discovered he has forged Helena's death certificate, it seems unlikely that a man of his intellect would remain in London.

S.H - why did he have to forge the death certificate

L.A - I am perplexed as to why Clarence might have faked the death certificate.

S.H - do you think he killed helena

L.A - Really Mr Holmes, you think you can come in here to the seat of power and accuse me of murder. I am not the murderer and will have you whipped if you say that again.

S.H - did you kill your wife?

L.A - I'll have you whipped if you accuse me of murder again.

S.H - Were you bullied by clarence

L.A - I know very little of the man but if he is as intelligent as he seems I doubt he would be in London.

S.H - where would ke go then?

L.A - Clarence has some questions to answer about Helena's death certificate, if he is alive he should come forward to clear up the matter.

S.H - what was wrong on it?

[WIN!] If you are going to accuse me of lying I have no more to say to you. I was going to try and be helpful and say perhaps Clarence is in Edinburgh if the body is not his, but I no longer want to help you. Get out. [YOU HAVE NOW ASKED BOTH KEY QUESTIONS. EITHER CARRY ON TALKING OR LEAVE THE INTERVIEW - CLICK CLOSE OR HOME]

Terribly frustrating.

I have tried every question I can possibly think of for the Lord Atbush interview. I even resorted to attempting the above questions, posted by djchristensen, with no results.

Someone.

Help.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
LA: I don't know how you got in here. This is highly irregular.

SH: Tell me about the Order.

LA: I don't know what Order you are talking about.

SH: Tell me about your daughter. [Key question]

LA: [SUCCESS!] Olivia tragically died in the fire at the asylum but I know little else about it; Clarence handled everything concerning her. If only he wasn't dead I'd suggest you talk to him about it. [LORD ATBUSH WILL HAVE TO STOP FOBBING YOU OFF NOW ALTHOUGH HE MIGHT STILL BE RELUCTANT WITH THE TRUTH.]

SH: Can you tell me more about Olivia?

LA: Clarence handled everything with Olivia, her death was a tragic accident and now he's dead too.

SH: Since when is Doctor Clarence dead?

LA: I understand that this corpse found in the river might be that of Clarence, but honestly I have not followed the story very closely.

SH: Were you aware that the corpse found in the river was wearing a pin of the Order?

LA: It may well be that this corpse is indeed the body of Clarence and he has met a grisly end. I know nothing of his private allegiances or enemies.

SH: Lord Atbush, what happened to Helena after Olivia was admitted to the asylum?

LA: Olivia was committed to the asylum as a young girl. She was melancholic and subject to fits of hysteria. Incurable. I left her in the hands of the Doctors.

SH: What sort of hold did you have over Lord Shurston?

LA: I believe some conspiracy was responsible for Lord Shurston's death, but I was certainly not involved and I'll thank you not to spread rumors to that effect.

SH: Do you think Clarence had something to do with Olivia's death?

LA: I am skeptical that this mumbo jumbo actually exists, I am sure the police will uncover a more plausible explanation.

SH: Can you tell me about Alice Clarence?

LA: A daughter here nor there is not important, Mr. Holmes. Only sons can be true heirs, so it is of no consequence whether it might be the remains of Ms. Clarence in that coffin.

SH: How did Helena die?

LA: It was all very quick. I was busy at the House of Lords and the message came too late to get back and see her.

SH: Why did you lie about Helena having scarlet fever?

LA: There was no reason to question the death certificate nor Doctor Clarence; the fact that the body was not Helena's was simply a misunderstanding on the Doctor's part.

SH: Why would you assume that the headless corpse in the river is Doctor Clarence?

LA: This corpse may well be that of Clarence if he was the victim of a bizarre assassination.

SH: What can you tell me about the East End?

LA: If Clarence disappeared when police discovered he has forged Helena's death certificate, it seems unlikely that a man of his intellect would remain in London.

SH: Do you think that the Order is responsible for Clarence's death?

LA: There is a society called the Order but I believe it is nothing more than a beneficial business network. I cannot confirm I am a member.

SH: Are you a member of the Order?

LA: They say the Order is simply a group of business associates. It is not a group I am a member of.

SH: Where would Clarence go?

LA: I am perplexed as to why Clarence might have faked the death certificate.

I had a heck of time with Atbush too. This is what worked for me:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First, ask him about Olivia to soften him up, then get him talking about Dr Clarence and the body in the river.

When he says he doesn't know if Clarence is alive or dead, ask "if he's not dead then where is he?"

That should trigger the "Clarence has some questions to answer about Helena's death certificate, if he is alive he should come forward to clear up the matter." response. Then ask what was wrong on it to get the same response djchristensen got.

Wow this was the first one of these I genuinely can't understand... I got one of three wrong and I don't know why.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Why is it Bow and not Edinburgh? I mean sure it makes sense for him to hide out at the Dolly House there and that that's the place that he got the poison at but why not Edinburgh?

Also

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The second key question is apparently calling him a liar

Hey, here's how I solved the interview. Ask/say these things:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I know about your daughter Olivia
How did she die?
Do you really not know it wasn't Helena in the coffin?
Where is Dr Clarence?
Was he in the Order?
No, you're lying to me I know you're in the Order.
Why are still lying to me? I know you were in the Order!
[the last bit is the hardest. Just keep calling him a liar and make him angry]

Even though I passed the interview, I only got the first part right because
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I asked Lord Atbush what colour hair Olivia had, because the corpse has brown hair.

But I got the second parts wrong the first time around. I mean the clues are there, but I seriously don't get how I was supposed to reach that conclusion. Second time round tis has happened. Bye bye reputation points Sad

Shurston's Desk

I cannot for the life of me find the second piece of evidence on Shurston's desk in Chapter 4. I've tried everything, including going into fullscreen and using the "images" option to check each possible angle.

It might be that I'm running Firefox on a Mac (0S 10.4) and it's just buggy...

But does anyone have any tips on finding the second clue? I already found

1. click on the button for the piece of evidence to be shown as its own image
(upper left by the sound options)
2. change the number at the end of the url to see any piece of evidence
3. look in the room for that thing, instead of blindly searching
4. success!

Lord Shurston Interview

Can anyone help me with the Lord Shurston interview? I got pretty far but then lost him. Please be specific with what I need to ask because I don't know what else to do.

Yeah that's a pretty tricky one.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Basically, confront him about you knowing about the order and that he's in the order and then ask him about who could be drugging him. When he says a sees a man in white, ask him if the man in white could be an orderly.

I've been going at this by myself (playing as Homles and Watson) since I found it a week ago. I looove the Holmes stories, and can't wait for the new movie!

And now a bit of rampant speculation about next week's chapter, because I really can't help myself:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Does anyone else think that the kidnapping is not the work of the Order? I mean...why take three when you only need one? And this family doesn't seem aristocratic, unlike the others so far. Hmmm.

Chapter 6 is still giving me some grief. How's everyone else doing?
