I basically put something like
"The templar are a just organization working for the benefit of our civilization. I would like to help my god and my people by taking the opportunity to make a difference in this world."

Wasn't that exactly - but close enough.

got my homework it was different for me, as was the email address, looks like we may all get something different, perhaps depending on how we answer things. this was what i got from my binary, not sure if i should share the email yet, just in case we all do get different
Quote:
Sarah, you have passed the first step in becoming a sworn Templar, however the secrets are still to be had. I am going to assign you a task, upon completion, you will email me at a more secure account:

I trust that you will complete the task and go far within our ranks.

MISSION:
When we cleaned the blood left by Subject 16, we noticed two markings that looked familiar one of YONAGUNI, and the other of Mnt.FUJI. Look into these two events and see if there are any similarities between them and report back to me using the email specified above.

update, entered my info and got this
Quote:
Sarah,

Thank you for your assignment. I liked that it was quick. You are a hard and productive worker.

The two locations do in fact have many myths to them. YonaGuni and Mnt.Fuji are all connected some way in this... Could it be Biblical? Could it be something far more that we do not even have the comprehension to understand? All of these things are possible. Do some digging as far as the link between Eden and Mnt. Fuji. If your information is correct, then we could be on to something.

I would like to award you with a certificate of the Templar Order. Congratulations, you are now a Sworn Operative to the Templar Order. Attached is your certificate, and welcome
Agent S.

~C

When I enrolled, I told them:
Quote:
I seek the truth.

I got back:
Quote:
Kevin,

Sometimes, the truth can be hard to handle. You may continue.

..same coded msg..

But the first response appears to be customized to what you initially sent them, so there does appear to be someone behind the curtain.

So, Last night - right before going to bed, I got this email :
Quote:
Telos,

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that coded message doesn't follow the format that I have sent to you, so I am unable to translate.

Guess I fucked up the ROT5. Probably typoed the A=F bit.

I sent this :
Quote:
so sorry! im not on a computer right now, but when i get the chance, ill resend the message using your format. sorry again for the mistake!

Got this in return :
Quote:
Very well, and thank you for the quick reply, your interest means The World to us.

"The World" came up just like that. I'm about to resend my last message, making sure I got the right 'key' for it.

Edit ::
Ok, so, am I missing something? I went back and checked the one I sent. It uses A=F to encode it. Was I supposed to do F=A? I don't want to send him another email until I know for sure.

Cipher Stuff
Here's what I've been using for everything. Very user-friendly.

Hey Telos, here's the site I used to make the ROT encrypt/decrypt process go a little quicker:
http://web.forret.com/tools/rot13.asp

Here's one for binary too. Works pretty much the exact same way:
http://www.roubaixinteractive.com/PlayGround/Binary_Conversion/Binary_To_Text.asp

And just in case it comes up (there are quite a few in the Glyph puzzles in AC2) here's one for Morse:
http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html

You were probably encoding your new message with the key to decode the last one, which would make your new message ROT negative 5 I think. Just go to the site, change "alphabet shift" to 5, put your message in the "clear text" block and click "encrypt." Very easy to use.

Also got my certificate this morning. And new instructions to start using the "protector" email from Jim Sawyer's base-64. I'm assuming this is the new collective spot for us to all send to, which means the dead-drop was a one-shot deal. Weird. Makes me feel like I'm doing the Dark Brotherhood quests in Oblivion all over again. Only these dead-drops don't have money in them when I finish my homework. Too bad.

Nighthawk, is there somewhere that has a list of common ciphers used in these games? I can figure out a ROT, binary, or Hex. As for the others, I'm going to end up pretty stumped. Would have had no idea about the Base-64 either. Just wondering any way to ease the process.

I was using http://www.blisstonia.com/software/WebDecrypto/index.php, and when converting, I was using the key to solve it in there. I fail.

Thanks for the other links, though. I like that other ROT tool much better.

Ok, sent out my confirmation email to the Protector address tonight. I was wondering something too: has everybody played the Assassin's Creed games? Might not have much impact overall, but so far there's been a couple of tie-ins to the games. My homework assignment would have been impossible if I'd never played.

Hope everybody's getting confirmed as agents! On that note, you can officially call me "Agent A." Now that I think about it, a cool twist would be if there were two sides to this game, us Templars on one end and other players as Assassins on the other end. Not sure how it would all work out, but it would be interesting.

Meh, look at me rambling... you'd think it was 4:30 in the morning or something. Shocked Must be time to get some sleep.

Agent A... out!

P.S: On the upside, since we're all starting to get directed to the same collective place (ie. Protector email), maybe it means the game is about to pick up. Rounding us all up to really get things underway, so to speak. Either that or I'm just really tired, like I said.

P.S. #2: One last thing before I head out. Theres an update to the Findings Journal, referencing our homework assignments. LINK The references to Subject 16 was me, and from your Yonaguni assignment, I'm guessing the possible locations come from Ifsogirl. Once again, no weirdness in the source or anywhere else from what I can tell.

Ok. So I'm Agent A for Adam, Ifsogirl81 is Agent S for Sarah, the Location of Desmond Miles in the Findings Journal is signed by "~V" for Warren Vidic (a central villain-ish type in both games). The other two findings are signed by "~C" who I'm assuming is the Agent C who is our line of contact with the Templars. I guess it's a really minor thing, but do we have any idea what the C stands for? He/she set up my hotmail account, but it's registered under first name "Agent" and last name "C" so that doesn't help at all. I was able to get a location of Los Angeles, but that's pretty much it. Gonna go check if there's any significant characters in the games with a C initial, but might be a stretch.

Update: All I could find was Rebecca Crane, but she's with the Assassins so no luck there. Oh well, probably won't matter in the long run anyway.
