So, either he means before he goes there, or this event happened before. Alex's trek to the tower?

I think "precedes trees" indicates that the tower was important to Slenderman before the trees were, like perhaps that was its point of origin. Doesn't Slenderman have an affinity with the trees, or forest?

In one story I heard, he was bound to a certain cluster of trees.

Well, they had that painting of the forest burning in #20, and the tower is like a climbing tower for firemen. Also, it's in the middle of a clearing within the trees. Maybe Slenderman's bound to that clearing?

Downloaded and watched in VLC at quarter-speed, and no surprises. It does look like there's a weird filter on the video of the tower though. Attached is a shot of the tower right before it cuts to the text.

Somebody really needs to translate the Morse code. Like, bit by bit, not just what it sounds like. This is actual Morse code, not something that looks vaguely like it, so we might get something out of this.
Other than that, I really don't know what to make of this video. I have a suspicion that the story will reach its climax pretty soon, but there's really not much here to brainstorm on. It's the sort of video that needs plain and simple know-how in order to figure out.

I'd be happy to if someone would turn down the bass in that fucking horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible noise.
It'll pop my headphones just before it drives me fucking insane.
Morse code ain't that hard when it's auditory, people, really.

Could "precedes trees" be totheark's way of saying that Slenderman is very old? Older than trees?

Considering that none of totheark's messages have ever contained anything both subliminal and meaningful, I don't think there's much to figure out. While I was watching the video I was waiting for some text telling me what TTA was trying to communicate (like he usually does), and lo and behold "waiting for you" Popped up. I think we've got this one cracked, guys. He's waiting for J to come to the tower.
Also, I take "precedes trees" to either be a meaningless soundbyte or to simply mean the tower stands right before a forest.
