It's hard to believe that, in just 3 weeks and 2 days, it'll have been 2 years since Rob got that Vice-President position in Japan, since the Statue of Liberty lost her head, since Marlena went AHH! POP! SPLAT!, and since our lovable camera guy got Hud-munched all to bits. What a wait...

I'll admit, I shed a tear

It would be lovely to see a trailer shot from the sky probably from a military clone with all the green lightning and numbers and stuff just moments probably before the end of Cloverfield (where Rob and Beth were below the bridge).

While seeing clover walking through the city with the sun already rising, you can hear some random military guys chatting with each other through the radio saying hammerdown protocol will be launched in 5 secs, and then BOOM. After seeing clover almost covered in explosions and trying to resist the pain through roaring and stuff, one guy says subject is still active, and a few chatter blabbers again depicting the activity. Then clover tries to reach everything in the sky as it can, just like what he usually do when being bombed at, thinking it comes from them..and then it reaches them, being the reason for them to crash while spinning just like what happened to the chopper scene while seeing clover roaring and stuff and being badly hurt and tries to reach and crush everything as it can, including them, which then transfers the scene with the words, "It's still alive" with the release date below.

Pardon me as because I am just lonely my whole life..but tell me honestly, isn't it lovely depicting Clover is still alive?.. <:]

^ First, I'd probably have a minor heart attack. Then, I'd once again start bugging everyone who'll listen about "one of the most awesome movies ever made!" Though, at this point, a simple random TV spot with JJ saying, "It's still alive" would be enough to send me into a coma for a week or two.

Regardless if anything is going to come of all this or not, its just nice to see some life being breathed back into this site. Posts being made daily and not every other week or so. i do have this strange feeling, call it an intuition that something is coming very soon and once again something will have found us. long live Mr. Grumpy Pants

OMG SLUSHO ZOOOM!
Fresh for you!

I was sooo relieved to see the beginning of this thread from last month and not last year. So I am definitely on the table. I'm mucho pro Cloverfield sequel but read the pg 1 stuff where Abrams has basically said he's not doing that but has another idea using some of the same people, and that it's part of the Clover realm.

If it's Cloverfield "related" then they're all dead except for...crap, forgot which ones! But Rob, Beth and the one other one who got away.

Maybe it could be a prequel, so technically he's not lying.

Okay, had to get that out of my system and will return to pgs 2-5 and catch up.

What's this about Abrams and Stephen King's Gunslinger? That would be wicked cool!

EDIT ~

I had to pull up http://www.slusho.jp and listen to the tune, wow the memories. And the frustration that ensued. I agree that it's curious to a point that the sites are still active.

I also agree that it could easily be done via the Slusho angle and maybe show MGPs origins.

Remember too that Rob's film was confiscated footage from the military and the suggested speculation was that a sequel would probably be from the military perspective. But he's said mostly probably not on the sequel, so who knows.

Keep in mind, though whether as a hook or a legit tie in for a sequel, the last thing we heard when Cloverfield ended, played backwards was "It's still alive."

The question I'm most interested in is this: would Abrams actually put forth the effort to make an ARG out of 500Rads if it was a sequel/prequel/offshoot of Cloverfield or did he burn out on that aspect? I mean he could be doing a C2, but this time opt not to bother with the viral or the game.

Unless he'll be hella cool and team up with Stephen King for a Dark Tower ARG, and that would totally make up for it! God, I'd wet myself if he did that!

That is a good point. With the Economic Downturn, they canceled a ARG for LOST, Abrams' favored child. Could Mister Grumpy Pants also be cut should this be a sequel?

Well the this season of LOST being the last, that should free up much of JJ's time. Maybe he will spend it fullfilling the Cloverfield storyline?

NEW ARTICLE

http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=29992
Quote:
Buried at the bottom of an article on Paramount's success in 2009 in the New York Times, was a brief mention that chairman Brad Grey is developing both STAR TREK 2 and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 4 with Abrams. We knew both of those things so nothing Earth-shattering there but then in the next sentence we a hint that there's another secret Abrams project. Grey said it's "possible" that Abrams will instead next direct another "tentpole film" that Abrams is working on but hasn't been spoken of publicly.

I really hope it's Cloverfield-related.

The thing that keeps me hopeful is that Cloverfield was a tentpole film. It was a rather non-traditional tentpole, but a tentpole nonetheless. Between that similarity and the similarities we're told 500 Rads has to Cloverfield, including its budget... I hope, I hope, I hope.
You'll have to excuse me if I drool a little. I can't help it.

Maybe...

Maybe C2. I just can't think Paramount would allow a movie that made over $150 million total on a $30M budget go without a sequel.
