Axon finding tool

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but i hacked together a tool for watching the axons in any region.

Nice work. Unfortunately, it only tells me again that I have no axons near me. Sad The closest would probably be one of the NY ones...

Same here. I wish they'd give us a Knoxville Axon, or maybe one near our "secret town" of Oak Ridge (nuclear threat, anyone?) so I could assist in the effort.

Oh well. Maybe next time.

Dorkmaster reports he got the 10:53 axon on freelance - 5 more chances left to get that one today!

DC afternoon failure (crossposted from DC thread)
Well, there are 12 phones inside the National Gallery of Art, I waited by the four closest to the marker for the 10:15 call, but there was no ring. There's a set outside that I'll try, but I won't get it until Tuesday.

I also discovered it's impossible to make it from the Gallery of Art to the National Building Museum on foot in 8 minutes (traffic sucks, even for pedestrians). I missed the 10:23 call there by about a minute and a half Sad. I spoke to the coat-check worker who had picked up the phone and explained what was going on; hopefully he will give the correct response when the phone rings tomorrrow. If not, I'll try for the phone myself later (Labor Day holiday will prevent me from axon hunting Friday-Monday).

If anyone is downtown and would like to try for these, feel free! I've updated the DC reference page with phone locations.

St. Louis area is four for four. I'd recap what I heard, but Code_Nothing is live, so you can hear it for yourself.

For future reference, the Meramec College axon is the wall mounted phone in the Bussiness Administration building. I tried to put a little bee sticker on it, but aparently they keep carrot top at bay by soaking pay phones with WD40, so the best I could manage was to tuck it into the frame. Will probably be gone in a day or two.

Now, of course, if I was one of the people running this thing I'd, change the axon to a different pay phone on campus. Twisted Evil

THANKS! Rock On

Ok, for a little more detail, the 10:53 axon - "Freelance" grouping, located in Hinsdale, IL. We were originally thinking that it had to be either the Mobil station on the northwest corner of Chestnut and washington, or the un-ringable phones in the train station, but we were wrong. After taking a look at the payphone directory site yesterday after our failed attempt, I saw that there was a phone in the "Corner Bakery" at 42 E. Hinsdale Ave, and that it took incoming calls. I slapped myself on the forehead and was determined to go there today to check it out.

Unfortunately, I was the only one to show, so I couldn't share the experience, but I was correct. The payphone was directly in the back, near the restrooms. (Why do they do that?!?) I gotta tell ya, I felt creepy just standing there with a latte and my digital camera, cell phone in hand, ticking off the time waiting for the call. They probably thought I was some sorta perv hanging out near the washrooms... Razz However, the call came, and despite the ambient noise being high (there had to be at least 50 people in that shop, all of them eating lunch (it's 12:53 in Central time) I was able to activate the axon. The truth is, it was just a (rare) REALLY good payphone. It was in excellent condition, not gross... it had one of those "loud, louder, loudest" buttons on it, so I could hear above the din and clatter of the lunchtime crowd. It's fortunate, because with a less than stellar phone, I don't think voice recognition would have worked!

All in all, quite exhilarating, and I'll definitely check out another axon next go around, especially if it can take place during my lunch hour again! Cool

Let's keep it going, people!!! (By the way, bill at dead.drop has already posted an mp3 of his recording of the wav file. It's a pretty good recording, so check it out, cuz it looks like it's gonna be a while before we get the other Freelance lines, from the poor showing today! If someone wants a transcript, PM me...)

Trigeminal is now HOT!!

Keep up the good work all you hunter-answerer teams.

Typing up a transcript right now. A few words I can't quite get 'cause one of my speakers is cream-crackered.

Any help?

Cop: 'We got a trace.....' «- I can't get the rest of this piece of dialogue until:
'Sir, do you...' etc.

Thanks.

Sounds like "we got a trace on the chatter for a possible CP fraud" (CP I'm guessing means chatter protocol)

I think it was Hirouki who said "Oh right that's me". He just realized Kamal was giving him the signal to push the buttons.

And it was Kamal who said "Um – I was – I was looking up a friends address" Aiden and Kamal are in the apartment with the cop, Hirouki is a couple of blocks away comminicating with Kamal in an earpiece.

So he has the last bit of speech on the chatter? Who says: 'my friend was just looking up an address' then? 'cause adien already said he was to the officer earlier in the text.

Edit - read above post... Doh!

One last change, it was Kamal who said "Oh God, olfactory, ocular motor, trigeminal." He was giving Hiroyuki the signal to push the buttons.

Axon 9:09 cute_little_caps hotted this morning. Its at the Block at Orange (a trendy outdoor mall), right hand phone right next to the Starbucks, for anyone who may need to activate it in another wave.

Shout outs to yanka and HitsHerMark, the All Female OC Axon crew. We'll hit the 17:35 one at UCI this afternoon (or does that count as evening?).

<wave>

5:35? Hmmm, I don't know... I guess I lean twords it being early evening.

My Voice recorder picked up what was comming over the phone pretty well, but the cute_little_caps.wav has been unlocked as of our Axon going hot. So I don't think there's much need for me to post it.

See you in Irvine!
