[NEW][TRIVIA] The 'Band In A Bubble'

Okay, there were talks about an early release of Halo 2 in Australia. This was not true. However, it was true that the band 'Regurgitator' would be taking a copy of Halo 2 into a 'bubble' for a new TV show on Foxtel/Austar called The Band In A Bubble. Now, this opened up a chance to see Halo 2 in action and get some hints on the storyline, right?

Wrong.

Unfortunately, the 'bubble's cameras were set up in such a way that we see high nor low of the game in action, and the sound is so low in the bubble that you can't even hear Halo 2 playing (which they seem to play more than they do their music). Apparently, they're also under contract to not say anything about the Halo 2 story, or even the gameplay. The most I've heard them say about it was 'are you playing Halo or Halo 2?'

This was unfortunate, but there's still a chance to see Halo 2 in action from outside. Right?

Wrong again.

Bungie/Microsoft is being so scretive with Halo 2 while it's in the bubble they've set up the 'play space' so it is in the corner, where people can see them playing it, BUT the bubble is lifted up off the ground about 3 feet. You're basically looking up and can only see some guys rear end as he plays Halo 2.

So all chances of getting any story and finding links to ILB is not possible. Which sucks.

HOWEVER, while I was watching yesterday one of them was sitting on the computer and mentioned something about bees. The group then huddled around the computer and were all 'woah freaky' and such. One of them commented 'What a great idea, it makes sense' and they sat around watching for a while. Do they also have a transcript of what is to happen in ILB?

Anyway, I thought I'd update you on the situation because I know a few people were curious. Not much help, I know.

A demo of Halo 2 was open for free play at PAX in Bellevue, Washington and there wasn't a single hint of anything related to this, from what I saw. But I didn't actually sit down and play the game, so you'd have to ask someone else.

I had a friend there (lucky bastard) he did play, but he knows of ILB, and didn't mention any connections....

it's my impression from conferences such as those that you don't really get a feel for a game's storyline (in fact, I've heard that they actually cut certain things out intentionally). they're just trying to hook you on the gameplay. guys, I'm certain that ilb will tie in with Halo 2 in some way or another. just give it time. let it take you for the ride without trying to figure out the "twist" at the end.

The only thing Bungie has let people play at conventions is a multiplayer map called Zanzibar, from a build of the game that's now (I think) over a year old. There won't be any story hints coming out of that.

As for "Band in a Bubble"... what a strange way to promote your game, if you can't even see it being played. Do they mention the game a lot, on the show?

One, you're correct. They don't let people play a single player demo, it's only multiplayer.

And second, they rarely mention Halo 2. To the point I gave up watching the show for hints.

They were playing the old E3 build of the game at PAX, with only Zanzibar available for multiplayer. It even says on bungie.net that now that PAX is over, Bungie is deleting everything concerning this build. No help there...
