But now I don't know if we should take that stuff into consideration, since he changed the code

He changed the way it was done, making the solution simpler but I think it might follow the same solve. I think he would have told us otherwise. I'll confirm it with him when I get a second.

Edit ::
Confirmed.

Regarding the code, only a few characters have changed. I'd assigned double..their own symbol, which made things too complicated.

Yeah, he said the clues about thorn and eng still stand

I don't know much about eng, I'm gonna look that up right now

Haven't looked it up yet, but my understanding is that it looks like an N with the \ part elongated.

It does.

So where does that leave us, i wonder?

j55n9j25c95mn

it's a substitution cipher, he said, except not when it comes to thorn and eng.

So the "n"s don't substitute? Where is thorn in all this? I wonder if "e - 5" still applies, he didn't mention it

Been lurking this thread for a little bit, thought I'd throw in my two cents on the cipher before I relurk.

j55n9j25c95mn

Clues given:

e - 5

the symbol for thorn's lookalike define's thorn's phonetic sound (th)

the symbol for eng's lookalike defines, well. I am going to assume ing.

So, disregarding thorn because that could be either b or p or y, I am going to jump to the conclusion that e = 5 and n = ing.

filling this in:

jeeing9j2ec9eming

or, for a bit easier reading

-eeing---e--e-ing

My speculation here is that the first word there is "seeing," considering the only other option would be peeing, and... yeah.

So, if it's a substitution cipher and he didn't decide to randomly screw with things half way through making it, j = s.

replacing again:

seeing-s-e--e-ing

And at this point, I have no other random guesses xD

Seeing would work well, but the whole eng and thorn thing don't necessarily go that way.

Nice job. And using more alphabetic substitution and ROT-9 (j=s) would make it "seeingisbelieving", which looks like it could be it.

So would we be right in assuming that the substitutions made here would be the same as the substitutions made in the previous one?

I'll tweet him and see if that's it.
Great work guys. I really suck at ciphers.

Update ::
Pretty much got confirmation that it's correct, but wasn't told straight up.
Asked if I was correct, waiting for a response, but I'm pretty sure you guys got it right.
Again, good job.

@Telos954 Yes. It seems I will have to choose a different method of encoding.

@Telos954 I tell you what. I am going to start using multiple codes, different methods of encryption, but I'll still use this one..

Yeah, I'm hoping Isaac doesn't start using the new codes too soon. This one was hard enough to pick up on in the first place.

New post from Devon, by the way. Seems he's having another episode.
