No worries guys, I was just pointing it out so there were no hilarious-yet-embarrassing mishaps during any chatting.

I also notice Bri's reply to Morgan's "Where are you?" was "hehas". When I first saw this I sort of assumed it was a typo of a giggle or something. Looking at it, I don't know why I would have, because it pretty clearly says "he has".

So some guy has her? This makes me wonder about what Morgan said about Bri not having problems with anyone...

ETA: Okay, looking at the archive, it seems there was a single entry in December. However, clicking on the month in the archive reveals no posts. Anyone know how to get at that sucker? Could be useful.

Also, I've been unable to find manicmorgangray or thefoolsapothacary on Twitter.

Sorry for the double-post (although the time difference between posts makes me almost not count it) but there's been an update to the blog. There's nothing in the source for this entry, already checked.

Narcoleptic.

Jesus. I took a nap around 4 yesterday and just woke up. Can't remember if I slept the whole time or got up in between. I feel loads better.

This makes me wonder if there's not some kind of Jekyll/Hyde thing going on with Morgan, but I'm not going to pursue that idea until there's a little more evidence of it.

I'd been hoping to catch Morgan on AIM, but since I missed him, I just sent this email:

Esteed wrote:
Hey Morgan, this is SamRey. You can call me Jerry if you want, it's easier. Anyway, I guess I missed you when you woke up from your nap. There's something I wanted to point out to you. I wish I'd noticed it when we were talking on AIM yesterday, but for some reason my brain misfired. Look at the texts you traded with Brianna before she stopped responding.

(Bri): morgn hav t helpme

(Me): Bri? Where are you?

(Bri): hehas

Those last two are the most important. For whatever reason, I thought that last one was a typo'd giggle or something. Y'know, "heha" or something. I was looking at it later and the context hit me: "Where are you?" "hehas". Look again. "Where are you?" "he has".

I think now might be the time to go over to her place and see if she's there. If she's not, then you should start trying to figure out if she DOES have a problem with some guy.

So we'll see how things go from here. I'm going to take a look at the titles of the entries to see if anything pops out at me.

ETA: Another update to the blog. Curious timing, considering what I wrote in my email.

Quote:
I Remember.

Last night I woke up and went to Bri's apartment. No one was there. Very disturbing.

No reply to my email, though. Curioser and curioser.

Below is an IM conversation I had with Morgan just now. Basically, I found out more about recent blog posts and that strange December 09 archive post. Morgan has not actually been in Bri's place yet, he still needs to find her spare key. Her family also does not know she is missing. When I asked him how she spends her time, he said she reads a lot and then went offline. More can be read below.

Code:

[15:07] curiouskat42: Hello.
[15:08] manicmorgangray: Hello there!
[15:08] curiouskat42: I have noticed your blog and the posts about your missing friend.
[15:09] manicmorgangray: Apparently a lot of people have.
[15:09] curiouskat42: A missing person is pretty serious business and so I think the word has spread out quite a bit.
[15:10] manicmorgangray: I should hope so...
[15:10] curiouskat42: So, why did you post those audio clips?
[15:11] manicmorgangray: Just testing out the whole posting from my phone thing, so I can update vocally while out of the house.
[15:11] curiouskat42: Ah, that makes sense.
[15:11] manicmorgangray: Mhm.
[15:12] manicmorgangray: I'm hoping to put some voice posts up tomorrow.
[15:13] curiouskat42: Oh, what will those be about?
[15:13] manicmorgangray: Iunno. Whatever I feel like at the time. This blog thing is more fun than I thought.
[15:14] curiouskat42: Ah, ok.
[15:15] curiouskat42: What will you be doing next in regards to your missing friend?
[15:15] manicmorgangray: Trying to get into her place, I guess...
[15:16] manicmorgangray: Hopefully I'll find the spare key.
[15:16] curiouskat42: You don't know where it is?
[15:17] manicmorgangray: Nope. She moves it around a lot.
[15:18] curiouskat42: Ah, ok.
[15:18] curiouskat42: Was she really worried about someone getting in?'
[15:18] manicmorgangray: No, she just figured it would be too obvious if it was kept in the same place the whole time.
[15:19] curiouskat42: Ah, ok.
[15:19] curiouskat42: Surely, there are other people looking for her too? Family, other friends, etc.?
[15:19] manicmorgangray: Not really. I'm trying to keep her family as clueless as possible.
[15:19] manicmorgangray: They'd flip a shit if they found out.
[15:20] curiouskat42: That sounds like a pretty typical response to a missing person.
[15:20] manicmorgangray: Yup/
[15:21] curiouskat42: Is there anyone who might be upset with her?
[15:21] manicmorgangray: Not that I know of...
[15:22] curiouskat42: What did you guys fight about earlier?
[15:22] manicmorgangray: My sister was being a brat to her. We made up later.
[15:23] manicmorgangray: Then we lost contact just a bit later...I figured she was still mad, so I let it go.
[15:23] curiouskat42: Has your sister been acting normal since then?
[15:25] manicmorgangray: Yeah.
[15:27] curiouskat42: Ah, so that's why your blog is called Aviary. I just saw your newest post.
[15:28] manicmorgangray: Yep. Creepy, huh?
[15:29] curiouskat42: Oh definitely.
[15:29] curiouskat42: Did your friend ever go to that aviary?
[15:29] manicmorgangray: Not that I know of.
[15:30] curiouskat42: So you have that dream every night?
[15:30] manicmorgangray: Just about. Not every night, but often enough to rattle me.
[15:32] curiouskat42: Do you think something triggered it a couple of weeks ago?
[15:32] manicmorgangray: I don't know.
[15:33] curiouskat42: Are you considering going back to it?
[15:34] manicmorgangray: Maybe. It's closed down now.
[15:34] curiouskat42: Oh yeah, I just wondered if you wanted to get as close as you can to it. It's odd that it has turned up so suddenly in your dreams.
[15:35] manicmorgangray: I think so too. Though I can't think of anything that would've triggered it.
[15:36] curiouskat42: It sounds like you have some bizarre things going on. A recurring dream, a missing friend, etc.
[15:36] manicmorgangray: Indeed.
[15:36] curiouskat42: Did you post before 2010 on that blog?
[15:37] manicmorgangray: Nope. I got it on the 1st.
[15:37] curiouskat42: That's odd.
[15:37] curiouskat42: In your archive, it says that a post was made in December 2009 but when you click on December, it says there is no post.
[15:38] manicmorgangray: I noticed that too. I think...I'm assuming it's just a glitch, since I posted on New Year's Day.
[15:38] curiouskat42: Ah, ok.
[15:39] curiouskat42: So, do you enjoy Warren Ellis' work or do you just like that quote of his?
[15:40] manicmorgangray: I stumbled across that quote online and found it funny.
[15:40] curiouskat42: It seems like a pretty truthful quote, given what limited experience I have had with writing.
[15:41] manicmorgangray: Yeah. It is.
[15:41] curiouskat42: So, what do you write?
[15:42] manicmorgangray: Poetry and short drabble-y stories, mostly.
[15:42] curiouskat42: Drabble-y?
[15:42] manicmorgangray: Rambling.
[15:43] curiouskat42: Ah, ok.
[15:43] curiouskat42: Is it more of a hobby or are you hoping to publish?
[15:44] manicmorgangray: Both, kind of.
[15:51] curiouskat42: Ah, ok.
[15:52] curiouskat42: So, are you seeking any specific help to find your friend?
[15:52] manicmorgangray: I don't know, any suggestions would be helpful. I just don't know what to do.
[15:53] curiouskat42: How does she usually spend her time?
[15:55] manicmorgangray: She reads alot.
[15:56] Meebo Message: manicmorgangray is offline

There is also another blog post. It was made when I was talking about him so that is part of the discussion I had. Audio clip test posts were also made before this one, those are also discussed.
Code:

Okay, so this started about 2 weeks ago; I've been having this screwy dreams about birds.  It's always about the same thing.  I'm standing in this place with a torn net roof and trees all around.  There are people just looking around, scared and confused. The place is full of birds, mostly black birds.  I'm walking around, trying to figure out what hapened, but I can't talk.  Nobody can.  It's dead silent besides all the caws and the flapping of wings.  And then suddenly every single bird in the place starts to flock towards me, and as they pass people, they just tear them apart, picking them near to the bone.  It's gruesome.  And then, as they reach me, I wake up.  Spooky, huh?  The wierd thing is, I know the place.  It's this old, dysfunctional aviary I went to as a kid.  It got closed because of some safety hazard or something, and they shipped off all the birds to the zoo.  I just thought it was creepy enough to post.

Okay, so several new updates. We've got creepy static that I'm hoping somebody can download and look at, we've got a blog update about a creepy dream that Kat has already covered, and I've got a new conversation with Morgan. I'm pulling out the bits I feel are most important, the other stuff is just random chatter.

Quote:
[16:09] SamRey56: Hm. Just read your email. If you can't find the key, there might be another way to get into her apartment.
[16:09] SamRey56: Not an illegal way, either.
[16:09] manicmorgangray: ...
[16:09] manicmorgangray: I'm not one for breaking and entering.
[16:10] SamRey56: Lol, yeah, this isn't GTA. I was going to suggest, if you can't find the key, maybe go to her landlord and explain the situation? Obviously it would be his/her choice whether to let you in, but if he/she did so it would be entirely legal.
[16:10] manicmorgangray: Hm. Yeah, that might work. I hadn't thought of that.
[16:11] SamRey56: It's probably better to try and find the key first, but it's a good plan B.
[16:11] manicmorgangray: Agreed.
[16:12] manicmorgangray: Though I DO have a crowbar lying around somewhere...
[16:12] manicmorgangray: >_>
[16:13] SamRey56: Ha! Getting all GTA is probably a last resort.
[16:13] manicmorgangray: Yeeeeeah.
[16:14] manicmorgangray: Oh my. Static from the TV sounds really creepy when processed through my phone.
[16:14] SamRey56: Can I ask if Brianna seemed preoccupied at all just before her disappearance? If there was something going on that she, for whatever reason, didn't share, then that would be a good indicator.
[16:14] manicmorgangray: Nope. Just good ol' Brianna.
[16:14] SamRey56: And I agree, the static does sound insanely creepy. Were you watching a horror movie or something?
[16:15] manicmorgangray: Nope. I just looked up clips of static on YouTube. Didn't want any of you to start hearing words or phrases that weren't there, so figured i was safe with TV noises.

Subtle hint?

Quote:
[16:24] SamRey56: Awesome! On a more serious note, that dream is pretty weird. Did you recognize any of the people in it?
[16:25] manicmorgangray: Nope...
[16:25] manicmorgangray: At least, I don't remember recognizing them.
[16:26] SamRey56: Hmm. Okay. Did you talk to Brianna about this dream?
[16:26] manicmorgangray: No. I hadn't told anyone except my personal journal about it until today.
[16:27] SamRey56: Understandably. A dream like that can't be easy to talk about. It's odd that you would dream about that aviary now, though. Did something call your attention back to it recently? Or was the dream the first time you've thought about it in a while?
[16:28] manicmorgangray: The dream was really the first time I'd thought about it since I was little. I don't see much of it, because it's kinda out of the way...
[16:29] SamRey56: Hm. Do you know if anything is happening there currently? Not right this very minute, obviously, but are they doing anything with it? Or is it still all closed up?
[16:30] manicmorgangray: Still closed up. It was unsafe or some shit.
[16:31] SamRey56: Maybe this is your subconscious saying you should pay it a visit?
[16:32] manicmorgangray: Mayhaps.
[16:33] SamRey56: It might stop the creepy dream, at least.
[16:33] manicmorgangray: Good point...
[16:35] SamRey56: Only during the day, though. Night might make it worse.
[16:36] manicmorgangray: Oh no. Not going for the creepy horror movie cliche.
[16:36] manicmorgangray: I'll either get abducted or murdered, just you watch.
[16:37] SamRey56: Nahhhh, during the day should be fine. Nobody ever gets abducted from creepy abandoned places during the day.
[16:38] manicmorgangray: I'll start the trend.
[16:38] SamRey56: Just remember The Rules, man. Always run out the door, not up the stairs, and don't trip.
[16:38] manicmorgangray: I'll bring a baseball bat or something.
[16:39] SamRey56: Bring the crowbar.
[16:39] manicmorgangray: Yeah. Good plan.
[16:39] manicmorgangray: Gordon Freeman.
[16:39] SamRey56: Exactly.
[16:39] SamRey56: And look, he survives everything!

My thin justification for leaving this in is so you guys know what he's planning, but really I just wanted to include the Half-Life reference.

Quote:
[16:43] SamRey56: Sorry. I had to. XD In all seriousness, I'm sure it'll be fine. There's a reason those things only happen in fiction.
[16:44] manicmorgangray: I hope so.
[16:46] SamRey56: Do you know what it was that happened at this place? What the safety hazard was?
[16:46] manicmorgangray: At the aviary?
[16:46] manicmorgangray: I have no idea.
[16:46] manicmorgangray: When I was 8, my mom just told me we couldn't go anymore. It
[16:47] manicmorgangray: 's been a while.
[16:48] SamRey56: Could be worth looking into. I could google the place if you have the name of it.
[16:49] manicmorgangray: I can't remember. Probably doesn't have a site anyway, it was a pretty small place. The guy that owned it was pretty cool though. He worked with the birds himself and everything.
[16:50] SamRey56: Ever hear anything about what he did after they closed it?
[16:50] manicmorgangray: Probably retired. He was in his late 50s, I think.
[16:52] SamRey56: Hm. The timing of all this is kinda screwy, when you think about it.
[16:53] manicmorgangray: What do you mean?
[16:54] SamRey56: Well, you start having creepy dreams and not too long after Brianna goes AWOL? I mean, the timing just strikes me as odd.
[16:55] manicmorgangray: I guess. It's not a huge deal. I just posted 'cause I thought it was interesting enough to share. Wierd, violent dreams and all that. sci-fi stuff.

So...what could that dream indicate? Beyond general creepiness and something gunning for Morgan?

Morgan has come back online and we are talking some more.

He has given me Brianna's e-mail address and has said that we can try contacting her.

It is:

So Morgan hopped back on and we had another conversation:

Quote:
[17:12] manicmorgangray: Hi again. Sorry 'bout that.
[17:12] SamRey56: No worries, man. It happens.
[17:13] manicmorgangray: Yeah.
[17:15] SamRey56: So have you noticed anything weird going on around you? Beyond the obvious current happenings, I mean.
[17:16] manicmorgangray: Um, nothing I can think of off the top of my head.
[17:19] SamRey56: Okay. You should ask your mom what it was that went down at that aviary that made it so dangerous, probably before you go. Wouldn't want to step through some weak ground or something, right?
[17:19] manicmorgangray: Yeah...that might suck.
[17:19] SamRey56: I hear it does, unless it leads to a treasure hoard.
[17:20] manicmorgangray: NOW we're talkin'.
[17:23] SamRey56: So let me just make sure I have this timeline right: You hadn't seen Brianna for a few days. Then, on the night of the 11th, you trade those texts and that's the last you've heard from her. Right?
[17:24] manicmorgangray: Yep. Really, it was the 12th. Midnight or so.
[17:25] SamRey56: Do you know what she was likely to be doing at around that time? Did she like to go clubbing or anything?
[17:26] manicmorgangray: Nah, she mostly stayed in. If anything, we would've been hanging out.
[17:26] manicmorgangray: She usually went to bed early though.
[17:26] SamRey56: So what could have kept her up that late? A good book, or a movie or something?
[17:27] manicmorgangray: Possibly Lovecraft, haha.
[17:27] manicmorgangray: But, all silliness aside, nothing I know of. She liked her sleep.
[17:27] manicmorgangray: And I really don't want to think about what could have caused her to stay up and send those texts.
[17:28] SamRey56: True. But to find her, you might have to.
[17:29] manicmorgangray: That's what I'm afraid of.
[17:32] SamRey56: Did she have any kind of online presence? Livejournal, myspace, whatever?
[17:33] manicmorgangray: She has an email address, but that's about it.
[17:33] SamRey56: Hm. Y'know what, maybe one of us could try emailing her? I mean, if this is all still her being mad at you, maybe she'll respond to one of us and not you?
[17:34] manicmorgangray: Someone else mentioned that, yeah. I doubt she will, based on those texts, but you can go on ahead and try.
[17:34] SamRey56: Sure, I don't mind giving it a shot. What's her email address?
[17:37] manicmorgangray: I'll put it up on the blog later. Someone just tried it and said the email bounced.
[17:37] SamRey56: Really? Hm. That's definitely odd.
[17:37] manicmorgangray: Yeah.
[17:39] manicmorgangray: Listen, I'll figure that out later. I'm gonna go get a bite to eat.
[17:39] SamRey56: Okay. Enjoy! We'll see if we can come up with anything on this end.
[17:39] *** "manicmorgangray" signed off at Wed Jan 13 17:39:55 2010.

It's odd that the email bounces, but let's see if we can connect it to any social networking stuff.

ETA: Another blog post. It may or may not be important, but I figure there should absolutely be a record of it just in case things disappear at a later date.

How Bri and Morgan Are Different.

1. She loves the song Ironic. I, being a writer, can only appreciate the irony in a song named Ironic not containing actual examples of irony.

2. She likes H.P. Lovecraft. I'm still trying to get into him.

The more we hear about Brianna, the more I'm liking her. Although I feel for Morgan on his second point. As a Lovecraft fan, I can tell you he's not the easiest writer to get into.

This one is worth a double-post. The blog's been updated with Bri's email address, and I just shot off an email. I'll report back whether it bounces. Here's what I said:

Quote:
Hi. I'm Jerry. I know this is a little awkward, but Morgan's been in contact with my friends and I. He's worried, and honestly, all of us kind of are. We're hoping that if you can read this, you can tell us what's going on?

Morgan appears to be getting harder and harder to come in contact with. Every time I get on AIM, he seems to log off right as I'm about to get a hold of him. His posts on his blog are becoming more and more chaotic and cryptic.

Has anybody gotten a response from Bri's supposed e-mail yet? I haven't tried myself, but I'm interested to see what has happened.

Also, those sounds that Morgan posted just don't seem right to me. He claims they are taken from the TV, but they sound like something... grinding per say. Like a food processor or a blender.

I attempted to view the source code of the page itself and tried to access the sound files for further investigation, but they've been strangely locked to the public.

Here are the direct links to the sound files:

http://www.tumblr.com/audio_file/332851697/tumblr_kw7e5dfLKz1qagmyr

Lastly, has anybody looked closely at the blog's icon? I don't have any sort of professional image resizing program, so I really can't magnify this image without it becoming extremely pixelated. Someone might want to check that out.

Edit: The ladyfriend blew it up for me (possible spoilers):

EDIT 2: BIG BIG NEWS

Finally got a hold of him in an aim conversation. Log to follow:

Quote:
[15:24] StarshotGray: Afternoon, my good man
[15:27] manicmorgangray: Hiya.
[15:27] StarshotGray: I take it you're the gent who's been running that lovely Aviary blog, eh?
[15:27] manicmorgangray: Why yes good sir I am.
[15:28] StarshotGray: Excellent
[15:28] manicmorgangray: Yes it is.
[15:28] StarshotGray: You'll have you excuse me lateness, I must be the 17th or so person to contact you about this
[15:29] manicmorgangray: Yeah, probably about that. And it's fine. Anyone who has any suggestions.
[15:29] StarshotGray: Any updates at all regarding the case?
[15:30] manicmorgangray: I'm putting up a voice post in a few, but YOU get the news beforehand; I think I'm visiting the Aviary come Sunday.
[15:31] StarshotGray: Oh really now
[15:31] StarshotGray: Morgan, you're too kind
[15:31] manicmorgangray: Why thank you.
[15:32] StarshotGray: I suppose with all this talk I should introduce myself. The name is Graham.
[15:33] StarshotGray: Like yourself, I am also an artist. However, instead of the pen, I use the piano.
[15:34] manicmorgangray: Ooh, that's cool. I play a bit of piano too. Not much though. I'm more of a guitar guy.
[15:35] StarshotGray: I don't mean to move the subject matter back to the case, but, do you have any idea what Bri's favorite Lovecraft story was? It may help us decipher what exactly she was possibly getting herself into.
[15:36] manicmorgangray: I'm not sure.
[15:37] manicmorgangray: Probably Shadow Over Innsmouth.
[15:37] StarshotGray: Strange, with a girl like her, I'd figured it would be At The Mountains of Madness
[15:38] manicmorgangray: I dunno, I haven't read much Lovecraft myself. I'm trying to get into him for Bri's sake.
[15:39] manicmorgangray: That might be it. For all I know, it's The Call of Cthulhu. Or even Rats, or whatever that one was titled.
[15:40] StarshotGray: Alright Morgan, I don't mean to cut this conversation short, but as you can probably relate to, I've got to rush to my next class.
[15:41] manicmorgangray: No problem. If you get any ideas, I'd love for you to contact me. the emails up on the blog.

So he's visiting the Aviary on Sunday. This could get good.

I'll look up the Lovecraft books later as well.

[13:41] victor: hey morgan
[13:41] manicmorgangray: Hey.
[13:41] victor: so how is the search for brianna going?
[13:42] manicmorgangray: The same as before.
[13:42] manicmorgangray: I have no idea where she is.
[13:42] victor: hmm...
[13:42] manicmorgangray: That dream is starting to seriously screw with me though.
[13:43] victor: yeah... your dream seams really weird.
[13:43] victor.com: did you dream about it again last night?
[13:43] manicmorgangray: Yeeeeah.
[13:44] victor: maybe its a sign or a premonition or something
[13:44] manicmorgangray: Maybe.
[13:44] manicmorgangray: I think I might have to go there.
[13:44] manicmorgangray: See if it leads to anything.
[13:45] victor: to where again?
[13:45] manicmorgangray: The aviary.
[13:46] victor: ohh there. i think its a good idea.
[13:46] manicmorgangray: BUT MAYBE IT'S HAUNTED.
[13:47] victor: hehe. maybe. hmm... do ghost appear during the day?
[13:47] manicmorgangray: Iunno. Still seems sketchy. I was more thinking rabid winos. And then ghosts.
[13:48] victor: wait, whats a wino?
[13:49] manicmorgangray: A vagrant.
[13:49] victor: ohhh
[13:49] victor: well, do you have anything you could bring with you
[13:49] victor: ?
[13:50] manicmorgangray: a crowbar. or a knife. whatever I have lying around.
[13:50] victor: go there in the morning and bring a weapon or something. oh, and bring gloves just in case
[13:51] victor: oh... i think you schould scout the place first before going in there.
[13:51] manicmorgangray: It's an open area.
[13:51] manicmorgangray: It has a net for the roof and walls.
[13:53] victor: any other specific thing about the aviary that you could tell me?
[13:54] manicmorgangray: Nope/
[13:54] victor: ok. do you know the name of the place??
[13:56] manicmorgangray: I don't remember. I haven't been there in like 10 years.
[13:59] victor: do you have a theory on the reason that place got closed down.
[14:01] manicmorgangray: Some kinds of safety hazard I think.
[14:01] manicmorgangray: Or maybe the owner just decided it was time to retire.
[14:02] victor: so, when are you gonna go to the aviary?
[14:02] manicmorgangray: Probably Saturday or Sunday.
[14:04] victor: okay then, good luck. and keep me posted okay.

yeah either sunday or saturday on the aviary trip, but graham already covered that

Morgan just posted a voice clip. Check it out.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Essentially, it confirms Morgan's trip to the Aviary come Saturday or Sunday. For some reason, you can hear some faint miscellaneous notes in the middle of the recording. Not sure if this means anything, but it's something to possibly take note of.

Transcript:

Morgan: "I think I'm gonna have to go to the Aviary. It's probably going to be this weekend and, I'm not (something that sounds like "freaked"), but I'm definitely bringing a weapon... and, definitely during the day, too. Obviously, Bri is still missing, and I think I have to go check her apartment. As you can (garbles)

Here's a summary for those Lovecraft stories Morgan mentioned:

Shadow Over Innsmouth: A guy traces his ancestry to a little fishing town called Innsmouth and finds out he's descended from a union between a human and an extradimensional monster from the deeps. His human side is slowly overwritten by his monstrous genetics and he goes to live in the sea permanently.

At The Mountains Of Madness: I don't know much about this one. There's an expedition to somewhere, that's about all I really know.

Rats In The Walls: Not technically a Cthulhu Mythos story, it's about a guy who inherits an old house, and it turns out there's things in the walls (that aren't actually rats, I don't think) that drive him crazy.

Call of Cthulhu: An investigation into a New Orleans-based voodoo cult turns into a globetrotting investigation into a secret cult dedicated to Cthulhu, a sleeping Great Old One who is "dead but dreaming" and will one day inevitably awaken to devour all that lives.

All of these stories involve the Lovecraft trope of the protagonist going bonkers, and not in that fun Walter Bishop way. Usually, Lovecraft protagonists look too deeply into things Man Was Not Meant To Know and bite off more than they can chew as a result. This could possibly be the case with Morgan, or perhaps Bri herself investigated something too deeply. More likely, however, it will be Morgan.

It's about a failed expedition to some massive mountains in Antarctica. The monsters the protagonist encounters are never really explained, only described through the protagonist's reactions to them.

I'm going to go ahead and e-mail Morgan about any... changes in Bri's behavior before her disappearance.

Edit: So a buddy of mine decided to do our best to decipher the icon image on the blog. After blowing it up and holding it back around 15 feet, we both came to the same agreement:

It's a doll lying on some tile.

What does this mean? I have no idea, but it could mean that Morgan maybe isn't the most reliable person we have in this case.

Okay folks, I'm in the middle of a conversation with Morgan right now, but I felt this was important enough to post ahead of time.

Quote:
[16:10] manicmorgangray: Listen, I have a seperate concern. I'm starting to get a little pissed at some of the people helping me. I've gotten numerous requests for my family's history, particularly on mental illness, and on my and Bri's experiences with Lovecraft. Any traumatic events. All that stuff. It's getting to me, because I'm not crazy, and neither is Bri. I just want people to know that.

So, folks. Let's try and be a little more subtle and tactful in our questions, hm? We've got no evidence this has anything to do with his family history, so ease up a bit on that angle if you want to avoid pissing him off. Also, try not to suggest to him that maybe one or both of them are crazy.

ETA: Okay, just finished the aforementioned conversation. It was fairly short, so I'm not going to bother going through and picking out bits, but I will bold the bit I feel is most important.

Quote:
[15:55] SamRey56: Hey! So I heard you're planning on visiting the aviary?
[15:55] manicmorgangray: Yeah. I'm getting really nervous about this though.
[15:55] manicmorgangray: What if I actually find something there?
[15:56] SamRey56: Tell us. Most of us don't entirely discount the, let's just say, weirder aspects of life. If you find something, we'll do what we can to figure it out and help.
[15:56] manicmorgangray: Thanks. You guys have actually been quite a bit of help as far as getting me to go to the aviary.
[15:56] manicmorgangray: Tomorrow's the big day.
[15:57] SamRey56: Have you had a chance to talk to your mom about what it was that happened there?
[15:58] manicmorgangray: I'm not talking to anybody until I get a solid idea of what's going on here.
[15:58] manicmorgangray: I think I might've been wrong, and the owner just retired.

[15:59] SamRey56: If you're sure. Just be careful, yeah? Also, I tried emailing Bri after you posted the email address on the blog. It didn't bounce, but I haven't gotten a reply, either.
[15:59] manicmorgangray: Well, she hasn't responded to me, or anybody else as far as I've heard. I
[16:00] manicmorgangray: I'm thinking that she might actually be missing.
[16:00] SamRey56: Yeah, it is looking more and more like that's the case. Have you figured out when you're going to go over there and try to get a look at her place?
[16:01] manicmorgangray: Probably Saturday night, or Sunday.
[16:01] manicmorgangray: If I don'
[16:01] manicmorgangray: t die at the aviar
[16:03] SamRey56: I don't think you're going to die at the aviary. Whether you'll find something or not, that's another story, but I don't think you're going to die.
[16:05] manicmorgangray: Yeah, although rabid winos are a bit of a concern
[16:06] SamRey56: I'm sure they'll leave you alone when they see the crowbar. More trouble than it's worth to mug a guy with a weapon, y'know.
[16:06] manicmorgangray: haha, you're probably right.
[16:06] manicmorgangray: Fuck I'm scared.
[16:07] SamRey56: And that's normal, man. That's totally normal. This whole thing is weird and creepy and if you weren't scared I'd be a little worried.
[16:08] SamRey56: But if things get too overwhelming, just try taking a breath. Things will slow down...at least, according to that one episode of Scrubs.
[16:09] manicmorgangray: Have I mentioned that you're my favorite?
[16:10] SamRey56: Haha, thanks!
[16:11] SamRey56: Yeah, I was hoping people would have a little more tact. I think they're jumping to the "weird" end of the pool before there's any real indication that things have gotten weird. I'll talk to them.
[16:12] manicmorgangray: Thanks. For all I know, I'll be completely fucking bonkers by the end of all this, but I'm all fine and dandy for now.
[16:14] SamRey56: I'm sure you'll be fine. While I'll admit the possibility of the weird-and-wacky cropping up, there's no real evidence for it right now. This is definitely not a good thing that's happening, but that doesn't mean we need to go into hardcore alternative investigating just yet.
[16:15] manicmorgangray: You're far more in control of yourself right now than I.
[16:17] SamRey56: Dude, you're right there in the center of all this. I'm here on a computer separated by lots of miles. If I were in the center of it? I'd probably be just as scared as you are.
[16:18] manicmorgangray: Okay. You'
[16:18] manicmorgangray: re right.
[16:19] manicmorgangray: Sorry about me constantly misshitting enter, btw. I
[16:19] manicmorgangray: SHIT, again. I'm just kinda twitching a bit.

[16:20] SamRey56: That's understandable. Maybe you should take a little time tonight to just go do something fun for yourself, something to relax you.
[16:20] manicmorgangray: That seems like a good idea.
[16:21] SamRey56: I know it'll be hard to keep your mind off the situation, but it will definitely help you stay cool at the aviary tomorrow.
[16:21] manicmorgangray: A beer and a long, hot bath, no matter how girly that sounds.
[16:21] SamRey56: Hey, if it helps then it doesn't matter how it sounds.
[16:21] manicmorgangray: I guess.
[16:22] SamRey56: I'm curious, did you have the dream again last night? I've heard that some people, once they make a big decision like this, find a little relief from the dream representation of the issue.
[16:23] manicmorgangray: Actually, I had a dream about the aviary. But a different one.
[16:23] SamRey56: Really? Do you think you could tell me about it?
[16:24] manicmorgangray: Sure. It started like the other one, same broken down place and all that, but this time I was alone. Comletely. No people, no birds.
[16:24] manicmorgangray: Then....
[16:25] SamRey56: Then?
[16:27] manicmorgangray: Well, I look up, and I see Brianna, hanging fron one of the frames, you know, essentially the cieling. And... Jesus it was terrible... she was all bloody, and brutalized. And on the ground under her, I see this ncklace that she wore. It
[16:27] manicmorgangray: Sorry. It was really awful.
[16:27] SamRey56: It's okay, I understand. Just take it slow.
[16:28] manicmorgangray: Okay. It was gold I think, or painted like it, and it had a little diamond in it, and I always liked it, but right then it was the most terible thing in the world.
[16:29] SamRey56: Understandably. That sounds terrible, man.
[16:30] manicmorgangray: That's not all either. But I really just can't go into the rest. 'm sorry, I know it might be important and all, but I just can't.
[16:30] SamRey56: That's fine. I would recommend at least putting it up on the blog before you go, since it could be important, but if you can't talk about the rest of it right now, that's fine.
[16:31] manicmorgangray: Okay.
[16:31] manicmorgangray: I can put the general thing up later.

[16:31] manicmorgangray: I can't face that blog right now.
[16:31] manicmorgangray: It's almost like it's become my enemy.
[16:32] manicmorgangray: The sheer, painful truth constantly just fucking staring me down. I haven't proven anything, but I'm just SO fucking sure that something's wrong/
[16:32] SamRey56: Don't think of it like that. Think of it like an independent timeline of events that you can look back on when things get confusing.
[16:33] manicmorgangray: That's much more positive than my view. Sorry about getting all tragic on you back there. Writer's habit.
[16:33] SamRey56: Don't worry about it, man. This whole situation is overwhelming, I don't blame you for being freaked.
[16:34] manicmorgangray: I know. I'm not worried about me.
[16:36] SamRey56: Yeah. Yeah, I hear you. All I can suggest is checking out the area you saw in the dream last night. But be careful, and if you feel like you need to get out of there, don't hesitate to do it.
[16:37] manicmorgangray: Okay.
[16:39] SamRey56: Do you know anyone you could ask to back you up there? I mean, I'm sure the winos won't make a move when they see the crowbar, but still. Couldn't hurt to have a second pair of eyes, just in case.
[16:39] manicmorgangray: You're probably right, although this is going to get out to everybody if I tell it to anybody.
[16:39] manicmorgangray: This is too serious to be a secret between me and a friend.
[16:39] SamRey56: Good point.
[16:39] manicmorgangray: Yrah.
[16:41] SamRey56: That necklace you mentioned, was it a gift? If she wears it a lot, it sounds like it was important to her.
[16:41] manicmorgangray: I think her mom might've given it to her.

[16:44] SamRey56: Okay, got it. It sounds pretty. Listen, I'm just guessing here, but I'm thinking part of your fear here is that the dream last night is going to come true when you go to the aviary. Am I right?
[16:45] manicmorgangray: ...yeah. I'm going to die if I find what I saw in my dream tomorrow. If I find anything that could be a sign of Bri, I'm going to flip, and this is going to have to be stepped up.
[16:47] SamRey56: Listen. Beyond going to that one area, forget about the dream for now. It was a dream. Just a bunch of mental detritus, probably just your fears coalescing into these terrible scenes. That's how you've got to think about this until you actually go there. Otherwise it's going to overwhelm you.
[16:47] manicmorgangray: You're probably right. It's interesting, you're the only voice of reason I can find in all of this mess, and I barely even know you.
[16:50] SamRey56: Don't mention it, man. I just want to help, and right now being the calm voice in the weirdness is the best way I think any of us can do that.
[16:51] manicmorgangray: Right you are.
[16:53] SamRey56: As far as what everyone else is saying, all I'll say on the subject is that if you do think of anything that seemed off before all this started, don't hesitate to tell us. Even if some of us can get a little intense, we are all here to help, and we won't judge. But that's all I'll say on that for now.
[16:55] manicmorgangray: Everything was incredibly normal.
[16:55] manicmorgangray: Honest injun.

[16:58] manicmorgangray: Shit, I've got to go.
[16:58] SamRey56: Okay. Take it easy for tonight, man. And be careful tomorrow.
[16:58] manicmorgangray: Okay. Thanks, honest.
[16:58] manicmorgangray: Bye.
[16:58] *** "manicmorgangray" signed off at Fri Jan 15 16:58:45 2010.

So, just to reiterate: Back off the crazy angle, chill with the Lovecraft. If this goes like Morgan thinks it's going to, we may want to look into Brianna's family history, assuming we have the ability. I'm hoping that if he finds nothing at the aviary, he'll head to her apartment sometime later tomorrow night.

Any luck on those audios, audiophiles?
