[SPEC] Axons change 9/7/04. Heat 'em before they get locked!

Me: Howdy all, I just have an axon theory.

You: I know... everyone has an axon theory these days.

Me: But this one has dire consequences

You: Oooohhh....

So, here's my speculative theory: these axons won't be available after Midnight PDT Tuesday morning (or Monday night, depending on how you view midnight Rolling Eyes...

Continuing on... Therefore, we NEED to get these axons unlocked by the 7th of Sept., otherwise, we potentially won't have enough pieces of the puzzle to put together these storylines.

Now, I know what you're thinking: SEX. Oh wait, the other thing: Yeah, but Dorkmaster, why would they pass up usage of acting material that they paid for!
Here's what I'm thinking (the other thing): they have the ability to work in these sound clips later. also, since we got archived/activated/cancelled on last tuesday, it would stand to reason that we have one week only for each set. This brings urgency to the game (you wouldn't want the game to end prematurely by people getting sick of answering payphones, would you? No! So you've built-in a way to keep the game moving, even if people NEVER got the wav files activated...)

SOoooo... what do you think?

Tuesday afternoon...

I agree with this idea.

It depends whether they'll give them to us anyway, or not, if we don't get them all. But with 2 days worth of hunting we've got a lot of the story. Once the weekend is over, surely we'll have them all. If not *shrug* the PMs might come up with something more original next time.

Sorry...wasn't trying to be States-Centric there, Sherpa! I actually meant this specific midnight could be viewed as either the end of Monday or the beginning of Tuesday. More of a glass is half-empty or full-type thing...
Very Happy

I don't think this is going to be a problem - if we have a weekend, I suspect a lot of places will get hot axons. It's just that THIS week most of us can't get out of work AGAIN for a couple hours to run a "personal errand."

Yeah, I got what you meant. Sorry, should've made my reply a bit lighter Smile (I'd call it Monday night, btw; on some good revision days, Monday morning... *grin*)

I will hit as many as I can on Saturday and Sunday if I have to. I think we can pull this off...

I know that two SF ones that will be done tomorrow will open up "to_do" and "drt".

I don't think that the audio files would be pushed back into the next set for opening if we do miss a couple axons and are unable to unlock those files. Do you think that there might be a roundabout way of accessing them from the archive that will undoubtly be made for the axons?

Or as we have noticed the previous axons from the first set were also in the second set, at least the locations were the same not the times. Do you think that if you are able to activate the axon in a later set that it would unlock the pervious sets audio file?

In order for the PMs to provide a backup method to release the AXON wav's that we miss, the wav's would need to be critical to solving the game.

I think it's SPEC at this point to say that the wav's have anything to do with solving the game. [SPEC] They could just be easter eggs (i.e., rewards for coordinating, and to keep people's interest in participating). [/SPEC]

I'll see ya tomorrow hopefully Cool

The wavs are all that we have at the moment - if they weren't critical, if they weren't the entire game right now, then we would have other stuff to work on. All we have is sending the SP votes and questions. The amount of money and effort that's gone into the sound files makes them very unlikely to be Easter Eggs IMO.

Maybe, but it's just as easily said that the GPS coordinates (AXONs) are all we have. I think it's spec either way. As of yet, nothing in the wav's has led to something on the ILB site, but, things on the ILB site have led to other things on the ILB site, all of which when we coordinate, release more wavs.

Still too early to say for certain.

assuming of course they weren't just sampled from something existing....

couldn't help myself.

The additional four from the first group weren't discovered until after the first group was completely activated. This sets a precedent that additional axons/wavs will not be made available until all the previous ones are hot.

With this being a web based source of information, a minimum number of locations for each axon may be preset to go hot after a predetermined amount of time. We would never know if one of them was not actually activated. This would guarantee that the game could continue on its own timeline and not come to a screeching halt if we couldn't activate an axon. For all we know, it may have already happened.

Given the amount of people who are playing though, it looks like we won't have to worry about it.

I agree that there are many things to be looking into, but the wav files have a lot of substance for us to use. Also they were produced with quality, I don't think anyone would want them to go to waste.

There are two more AXONs in my town that can help unlock files, but one of the AXONs doesn't work. Its the 15:35 one for raining_cops. We will still try to get it to work though.
